Allen is being guided by the same philosophy - "bloody hard work" if you don't mind. You have a winner here, and his detractors will automatically begin to dirty the waters and throw mud - it wont work. It may take time, but given the chance St.lucia will benefit in the long run. Soufriere will in the long run prosper under a robust tourism industry under Chas like it or not. Open your eyes, St. Lucia.

This Allen is one of the most divisive persons to emerge in national politics.
Writers say he is good for the UWP. This may well be so. But he is most definitely very bad for this country.
His victory remarks showed that he was unprepared and what he said showed that he stood for business as usual.

With all his vaunted education and achievements his father entertained us with, in his opening speech he came up empty in terms of a strategic direction for the country. Is this all he could come up with after all this time spent outside and inside of government? This, most starkly and holistically strikes me as very opportunistic behaviour.
Congratulations, Mr. Party Leader on your ascendence to this pedastal; to acceptance of this social, political and economic ruin upon your well clothed shoulder.
The clarion call from the people is for: 1. Removal of corruption from the governance of the affairs of the people. 2.Removal of sectional discrimination that warps the progress of the people in this senseless feud of party politics. 3. An esprit-de-corp that seeks collaboration, solidarity and consolidation of a plan of action that will cause St. Lucians to realize social, political and economic healing. Regardless of their differences, the UWP and the Labor Party must find the way to lead without rancour. ( Don't let it be said that from the leaders of the people is wickedness gone through the whole land ).
Look deep into your navel, Mr. Party Leader and take good note of the times in which we live; look well, at the head of this cross-road of human discombobulation, and for Heaven's sake, work hard to convert this social, political and economic ruin to social. economic, and political health for all St. Lucians. Then, you will be called a healer of the breach.

If you really think that a victory speech (five minutes)should be used for outlining a strategic plan for the country then you do not understand what a strategic plan is.

Mr. Chastanet will have to bring proof of his MBA to light in the newspapers. It is very funny that after Air Jamaica, with these letters behind his name, he has not been able to find NO other employer than senile John Compton.
After Air Jamaica, this MBA's career went in the same direction as the airline he worked for. It went down. As far as we know, there has been no executive recruiters knocking on his door with a sign-in bonus to join another airline. That MBA is this marketable.

Some are very obvious. Others are taking on the title of doctor and they have people calling them Dr. This and Dr. That, when they do not have a genuine doctorate. There are grave doubts being expressed in some quarters regarding the situation. Let's clear the air. Examine the horns!

The real problem with business development in Saint Lucia is simply this: the SLP has abdicated its responsibility to protect the consumer by doing absolutely nothing to the development of a monopoly of a key sector like food distribution.
Two approaches may have been taken in relation to this: Either (a) pass legislation strengthening consumer protection to ensure competition in the marketplace by blocking such consolidations, or (b) participate in bringing in a partner to help the company that was being swallowed up by the monopoly. The second option could have been done so as not to increase the debt obligations of the government.
A lack of sensitivity and awareness regarding business concerns for fair competition to prevent price gouging and the fleecing of the resident population resulted in total government inaction.
The acquired company would have had to engage in a combination of a costly marketing campaign, lowered prices (margins), and easy credit to have ever survived the assault. It went under. And so did any prospect of fair competition in the food distribution sector in Saint Lucia.
Now the country is facing an even more disturbing and sinister development: a combination of a monopoly in the food distribution sector backed by a beverage company through family ties, with the looming prospect of near absolute political power being combined with this in the persons of a son and daughter of that business amalgamation, the son becoming further empowered with the constitutionally guaranteed, dictatorship of the prime minister.

When he spoke of the need to encourage economic competition to drive down the price of food in St. Lucia. When he toured the country side speaking to the folks about their fears and aspiration.
