What are the consequences of this sale for the St.Lucian economy? What kind of corporate citizen is Buckeye?

You know, I've read every bit of reporting on this sale since it's inception, and frankly, most of the stories are a rewarming of the same one press release - no actual "reporting" is done. I get that - budget, time etc blah, blah. What I don't get? How come you can tell me the facility is 32 years old, you can tell me the employees are concerned, you can even tell me they are non-union, BUT YOU CANNOT TELL ME HOW MANY EMPLOYEES ARE AFFECTED?

Look up Buckeye on the Web. It's a very nebulous company - there's no tangible information on any of its Websites - VERY STRANGE!

HESS et al have been using our shores as a door mat. To these U.S. Corporations (san mess) they never had any respect for the Governments of St.Lucia - due of course to the Kaca chien type of governments we have shown to these people and how we have presented ourselves to the corporate world.
Can you imagine inviting the likes of your man From Castries South, Micoud South Soufriere, Denery Nth. and Sth., Castries Nth, and the sexy Min. of tourism to the corporate boardroom, talking business at the level of these highly qualified and trained CEO's my god, what a laugh.
No wonder they ignore you and do not inform or consult you on any thing they do pertaining to their business on your soil.
Not at all surprising, your own leader treat his government and the people quite the same way, so get used to it.
It is a Kaca Chien way of doing business in St. Lucia anyway.

Great observation, above. Tell me, sitting at a meeting in a board room with Buckeye's executives; the likes you mentioned do not stand a chance. Infact, they would not understand the language of those executives.

Indeed, Kaca Chien business in what used to be Sweet Lucia!!

Buckeye appears to be some kind of Holding or Shadow Company that handles several anonymous international corporations under its corporate umbrella. At this point it's very hard to know the background of who or what St Lucia will eventually become involved with.
The government needs to inform its people of these things. Be assured, if they don't do so soon, it's because there's something shady and/or dangerous behind it.

If the P.M. knew all about the deal all along and did not inform (a) Parliament (b) the Nation (c) the Governor, then some thing smells.
If he did not know, it shows you that he is not on the ball, and I ask why did he not know.
Would the British or Canadians or even the Dutch treat a friendly, foreign and poor country that way?
The U.S. has no respect to countries they can bully around. We St.Lucians deserve that. They've looked at you straight in the eye and see how stupid you are, so they give you a 2x4 school that cast them 'Six Pence' and you jumped up and down singing tra la la.
Can somebody tell me, who among that lot is qualified to sit at the corporate table with these Yanks and demand a much better deal than that slap in the face?

O.K. we have one with a PHD, and St.Lucians do not hesitate at every opportunity to refer to him as Doctor, feeling good and proud about it, but let's see, is he the guy? he better be and not Dr. Hastings Banda, of Malawi, or Dr. Francois (Papa Doc) Duvalier of Haiti. (talking of Francois, remember him?) will he do as side kick to the real McCoy?

Just so you know, the USA treats the UK like $hit so don't think you'll get anything from them.
