You bet we (they) are doomed as a people. Those at the top are more interested in preserving the status quo for job preservation.
Take a look at the game play at St. Jude's Hospital, more interested in dragging political opponents to court, playing footsie with the legal system with criminals running amok, juvenile criminals bullying younger, weaker, less intimidating youngsters, tourists being attacked and robbed. I could go on, but would they ever learn?

They say "this is St. Lucia where they are happy". (but at what cost).
