King, where is the 50% of crime reduction you and your cohorts promised?

The political leader of the LPM is calling on Prime Minister King once again to put aside his ego and show leadership by galvanizing the resources and thinking of all St. Lucians and organizations to fight the scourge of rising crime in St. Lucia.

The Political Leader, Mr. Prudent, says that with the unprecedented level of homicides in St. Lucia, now at 45, the time has come for the Prime Minister and his government to rally the entire nation in the struggle to make this country once again a peaceful and safe place for all St. Lucians.

He says that in the aftermath of hurricane Tomas, the government and people of St Lucia have a great opportunity to rebuild, not only the physical infrastructure of our nation but also the spiritual pillars of a just and ethical society as well.

Mr. Prudent says that nothing short of a comprehensive approach in battling crime is needed now. The Prime Minister must be bold and courageous enough to do what is necessary and engage everyone in this struggle to fight crime since it had become quite clear that his government has failed miserable in managing lawlessness in St. Lucia.

Mr. Prudent says that while the creation of a task force is commendable, the same thinking and strategic approach should be used to fight crime. He calls on the government, once again, to set up a national consultation on crime that would include all individuals and organizations and all the social, economic and political thinkers and actors on the national stage. Mr. Prudent believes that everyone can contribute since crime affects us all. Everyone should be consulted, including youth organizations, the churches, teachers, doctors, nurses, farmers, business men and women, unions and taxi-drivers.

Mr. Prudent believes that the rebuilding of the infrastructure of St. Lucia should be done with a holistic and strategic view to reducing the level of crime and lawlessness in the country.

It makes little sense, he says, to rebuild the infrastructure of a nation and leave its people vulnerable to crime, chaos, disorder and unruliness as it was in the past.

Until the mentality changes nothing will change, why do St. Lucians find communication so difficult that they have to threaten people or resort to violence if they are not happy about what someone is saying, it appears to have become a way of life. Children starting school need to be educated about this vile behaviour and taught that there are other ways to resolve problems, Also physically abusing children will teach them that thats what you do if you don't like someones behaviour; fathers/men beating girls will teach them that if you love someone its ok to hit them, then they allow themselves to be abused in adult relationships thinking that being hit is ok because that person does it out of love.
This is a scarry place to be and sadly children have a future that looks sick.

Never any pragmatic solutions. In this world we live in, all we have is conferences, workshops and seminars and yet nothing comes out of it. SMH

'Mr. Prudent says' and 'Mr. Prudent says' simply because St. Lucians have not yet learned how to identify people who are dedicated with ideas from people who can only survive by winning their seats and being the government.

Before King had the PM handed to him, he was out in the wilderness, both unemployed and unemployable. He had no marketable skills except winning elections.

He has been given a golden opportunity. What does he do with it? Nada. Oh yes! He reads speeches. You can do that. Many others can do that. So Mr. King is doing no one any big favours here.

Until you and Mr. Prudent are given the opportunity to do something different, we have about 15 more days for Mr. King and the UWP Ali Baba gang to get rid of the reputation of being the worst and the most corrupt government ever to be in power in the English-speaking Caribbean.

UWP has in the Cabinet conniving rooks, drug lords, jailbirds, corrupt doctors, fat-face khaki-coloured liars, moronic ministers grinning every time you see them, idiotic printers, and political harlots who are mere simpletons as its party officials.

Give Mr. Prudent a break!

I do not live in St. Lucia. I have been on holidays there in the past.
However, I no longer feel safe there. Murders and muggings being repeated without being solved, along with an ineffective police force, cruises are becoming the holiday of choice.
With a corrupt lethargical
government, an ineffective police force, and a lying populace ready to rip one off at every turn, an Island of rubbish and garbage - I AM ONE TOURIST THAT SAYS CHEERIO.

What a sad and dreadful place to in St.Lucia. I mourn for failed promises by our leaders. I mourn for reckless statements such as crime rates is simply a perception and not a reality by Guy Mayers. I mourn for missed opportunties for creating positive change. But, in every storm there is a silver lining-the sun will shine on Fair Helen once we get better representation at the next election with a new party (one with a vision and effective strategies for crime.

Why did Compton a Vincention make unqualified King of vincention origin, Prime Minister?

Consider the LPM view point

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lpm-Soufriere-Constituency-Association/155739677769438

In a peaceful and tranquil community, civilization will prosper through the continual enhancement and promotion of strategic planning and input where citizens’ participation take root and ownership, there-by sharing the goal of creating a culture where individuals and families can prosper with the aspirations of enjoying a high quality of life.

The focus of these strategic planning may very well follow on a few strategic issues such as:

Ø Intelligence and information analysis

Ø Monitoring and surveillance

Ø Organizational capacity (command & control)

Ø Interactive media relations

Ø Quality customer service

Ø Auxiliary service units

Ø Public affairs bureau

Ø Accountability and fiscal responsibility

Ø Community support bureaus

Ø Growth and change demographics

In furtherance of the above strategic issues, it’s is necessary for residence to directly IMPACT their community through neighborhood services and initiatives that connect to end violence, despite our diversity. The services offered, should focus primarily on specific job skills training and development, social services, family services, community development services, and assistance in micro enterprises entrepreneurial ventures, towards the promotion of economic empowerment.

John Compton, a Vencie had such contempt for born and bred St. Lucians that he hastily enacted laws making it difficult for bona fide St. Lucians to come from overseas to join in local politics. Those he allowed were mere putty in his hands. The Bousquets come readily to mind. He even went further and got a Panamarian to achieve nothing in Foreign Trade under his rule. Name a significant achievement for that ministry for that period under Compton?

That 'genius' was so clever, that when the preferential arrangement for bananas, he dumped the economy like a hot potato in the lap of Dr. Vaughan Lewis. The party retards making up the officials of the UWP were so dumb that they rejected a younger and knowledgeable person for someone who clearly could have died anytime.

They never had the foresight to look into the possible future with Compton dying. The Al Baba gang tipped him into the grave. Today, we have in the shambles that John Compton left, real crooks, knaves, drug barons, unethical doctors selling patient's medical records for profit, ex-cons with double personalities offspring of the idiotic government ministers under Compton.

Now we have as puppet prime minister someone with barely an education above CXC. The drug lord is the prime minister.

The latest killing is drug related. Some gang members did not get pay, perhaps?

Do not believe the lies and the excuses. The total UWP cabinet is unfit for political office. The PM knows that the drug baron in his cabinet is the one giving the orders on the streets and in his cabinet. For this he has our contempt.

At 45 the Kin of Murder!!! What an achievement. What a legacy???

Consider these: RECOMMENDATIONS
In support of research findings on investment in Early Childhood Development and a bid to build a firm foundation for our children’s future growth and learning, it is suggested that efforts be made to:
1. work with the business, education and philanthropic organizations to broaden public understanding of ECD, its long range social and economic importance;
2. Use both direct investment and incentives to build capacity and raise the quality of ECD programmes;
3. Develop the infrastructure to support the availability of programmes that offer high quality experiences for children; and
4. Work with relevant agencies and institutions to increase availability and access to education and training programmes to build desired competencies in ECD practitioners.

Economists have long believed that investments in education are an important source of economic growth.
Evidence however suggest that early years are the most cost effective period to invest in a child’s life.
Because events in early years influence the child’s productivity and learning ability throughout life, early interventions have proven to be effective strategies for reducing poverty in disadvantaged populations; increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of school expenditures by reducing dropout and repetition and guaranteeing a competitive and productive workforce to meet the challenges of a constantly changing workplace.

Saint Lucia is certainly becoming a death zone. There must be some solution to put a lull to all of the madness. When people begin to slaughter one another in the presence of others, it means that lawlessness has taken a turn for the worse. Do we truly believe that the Police alone can fight this problem? The government cannot fight it alone either. It is time for Saint Lucians to put aside their differences of opinions and come together to resolve this situation. Stop harping about King's promises and stop expecting the police to work miracles...they too are human. As for the politicians, liaise with the people and find the underlying cause of the escalating crime. Nothing occurs without reason and there is definitely a reason why this is happening in Saint Lucia. It's time for us to stop playing the role of the ostrich and face the problems head on. Are we too caught up in our problems to see that Saint Lucia has gone to the dogs?Crime is everybody's business and when one family suffers as a result of crime we all suffer as a nation. Nowadays we have to be thinking along the lines of "Will I be next?" I hope the Police will find this young man's killer because I think they know who he is. If there were so many eye witnesses, somebody will have spoken up by now...or is that wishful thinking?

The police knows very well who ALL the killers are. They also knows too, that the killer's boss is sitting right there in the UWP's Cabinet.

Perhaps they are afraid to upset him, the boss, the one in cabinet. I sincerely pray and looking to the day the CIA and FBI will get HIM!!

We have the boss of the killing drug gangs right inside of the Cabinet of the King administration.

Not everybody knows this, but King has to get the nod for all he does and says to his mafia boss in cabinet. Some people know this. Others do not. This by itself does not change anything. But it only goes on to show the amount of damn lies the people of St. Lucia are being fed by this PM and his so-called minister of national security. Shameless liars!

The boss has them by the scruff of the neck. Some of the police are on the payroll of the Don. Members of the rival gangs are too.

Now, the people are being asked to do the job that the government was elected to do and the police are supposed to do.

How can we reduce crime when the police activities are being thwarted by the leader of the Wilton Yarde and the Grass Street gangs who sits in parliament. How can and when will we ever see progress in crime fighting when the don keeps on frustrating anti-crime activity by the police or informs the gangs that the police are about to make a raid?

King keeps on lying to the public. But some people know what is going on in the country.

Only when the drug king pin is out of power will the crime rate fall in St. Lucia.

King has neither the power nor gonads to do anything but make his usual hot air speeches. That is all he can do. That man has no credibility at all.

Imagine that he has just CXCs or none at all, yet in his profound ignorance and as a moron, he finds it fit to ridicule someone who has a doctorate. Why such low class people are ever given a position to be prime minister?

I agree that the whole UWP cabinet a damn curse on the island. Everyone of them should be kicked out of office.
