At the time the decision was taken there was carib star in the picture. So competition was healthy and fares were low, thus there was movement within the caribbean but the situation have changed. It's only LIAT in the picture now, with the johnny comes only doing the profitable routes. So you are talking of a different situations. Liat does need the help. By the way you should do some digging on the hand that Campee and Bird Played on Liat 1974.

What I find strange, is these fellows will scrutiinize and criticize every word coming from the opposition mouth. Even though they do not have the facts right. Whiles there is a whole set of nonsense coming from the government mouth piece, which they never talk about. What does Pele know more about Liat and other airlines which Pierre who was minister of tourism for 9 yrs do not know? These political operatives must learn to stay in their section.

Yes ANON #1, as I said I have no problem with helping LIAT, for it was because of my job working for Barnard & Sons who were their Agents in St. Lucia, I was able to buy my first home. I am not against that. I was only reminding the Hon. Member of what has taken place in the past. And Anon # 2. Mr. Pierre could not touch my 21 years of experience working with the airlines which include, LIAT, Caribair, AA & BWIA. I have made the airline industry a part of my life, and keep up constantly with what is taking place in that industry, so I doubt that he knows more about the industry than I do. And finally Anon #3. Tommy dead - what more can I say...lol

Pe'Lay, Since when 26 years of languishing at various airlines; filling out forms etc and playing "saga boy" equates to technocrats' analysis of raw data to come to a conclusion as to where it would be beneficial to invest our scarce resources.
You said you purchased your first home through your association with LIAT. Were you on "de lis"? No wonder LIAT is in dire straits today!!
