workers who keep the wheels of progress rolling, ..., are responsible for creating the wealth of the nation."Try to work the concept of value for money into your socialist dogma and then come back and explain why civil servants warrant a pay increase.
" The Citizenry ...possesses more collective wisdom than any government or trade union can ever hope for."If, by "collective wisdom" you mean the sum of all the wisdoms of the collection of citizens, then what you say is true. However, if "collective wisdom" is the majority view of the populace, then you are wrong. The former can never be substantiated; the latter explains why we have the governments that we have. Hayek's work was probably not on the route to the destination you chose to pursue, but it's never too late to reevaluate one's life and take a peek at his The Road to Serfdom.
"which side is the more reasonable and more ready and willing to compromise for the sake of the State - meaning the citizens? ... the citizenry must then do all in its power to put the full weight of its support behind those who will also support it"However, when a country reaches the point where one party to the conflict, the civil service trade unions, represents a majority of "the citizenry", it is beyond the point of no return, and the non-union citizenry is raped at will by the unions who vote a compliant government into office. I fear St. Lucia is near, or at, this point of no return. Trade unionism reveals its true colours -- exploiting the weaker of society for their own members' benefit.
Peter, The chickens have come home to roost,It is people like yourself whose duplicity have misled the working class. You instigated them to fight for equity and justice and abandoned them in midstream.Of course you can't see anything wrong with the uwp.Thats' the contradiction which faces St.Lucia today.
