Great accomplishment and I applauded this economically having come to St.Lucia from Canada in the early 70’s and settling in Soufriere. As the owner, have you ever ponder and visualize the economic power attained and social responsibility relevant to the same, worthy of some consideration with the Soufriere community.

Apparently some only look at the town from there vantage points on one side and gaze at the vegetation, the pitons and the Caribbean seas and the other by passes the valley- the town and it surroundings.

The town of Soufriere is staving, stagnant and miserable, no wonder your hotel guest never come to town, except a brisk drive to and from your properties – at diamond hills, Anse Chastanet, and Jade Mountain, way beyond the view of Soufriereians, except to work as maids and servants

This is a deserving honour for Nick and Karolyn - two of the hardrst working peple I know - and their staff. Nick has tried his best to give back to Soufriere and has given his services free of charge to many worthy causes in the town. However it is a fact that Soufrierians are not benefitting from the industry at a level that is anywhere close to the tourism traffic generated by their town. Something needs to be done about this. There have countless consultations and studies on Soufriere's development that have produced many reports. What Soufriere needs is sustained investment in pursuit of a clear vision. In the meantime some simple things need to be done: the roads there need to be fixed; homes painted; drains cleared and maintained; the main bridge needs to be widened to accomodate two way traffic. A public-private sector management entity should be established to oversee the affairs of the town. It can be done. But politics has to be taken out of the dynamic of the town.

The wealth should be spread around.
