Is it interesting that it took soo soo long for the Kenny apologists to work up a Press Release after the debacle of a small turnout in New York over the past weekend. From the 8,000 or 15,000 strong Lucians in New York only 125 turned up to see the former Prime Minister of St. Lucia. After 2 ½ years since the last elections and Kenny can only draw 125 people to see him in New York. What a laugh ! There are more people in some McDonalds on a slow day than that !
On a good day there are more people lining up outside KFC on Bridge Street ! So much for charisma. You can only fool some of the people all of the time.
Judging from another post the one thing that Kenny had going for him is that the St. Lucian Ambassador by the name of Donatus St. Aimee turned up to greet Kenny. This is the same guy who was the United Workers Party candidate for Laborie in the last Elections. It is fellers like this that make Kenny look important.

Kenny! Kenny! Kenny! Please! Please Kenny time to stop the lies. It's time to be truthful with the St Lucian people. I was present and I am able to confirm that the turn out was not what anyone expected.

Here are the fiqures: BBQ about 150 ( free food and drinks)

The Big Honor and Big Speech on Sunday- 75-50 people.

As the person before commented. New York has close to 15,000 St Lucians. It was a poor showing and we ought not to lie to the people of St Lucia.

We have lied to them in the past about false polls ( 14-3.We lie to them just about everything. Things are bad enough in terms of where we are in the country. No more propoganda please!

Minor correction.

Big Honor Big Speech: About 75-80 people. 50 Chairs and a few people standing here and there around the small hall.

Keith St. Aimee is the ambassador -- he probably has to show up to greet the Official Leader of the Opposition.

Anonymous said...

Hot dang, that was a Lucian New York Yankee no-show. Me thinks they stood him up.

Greet the official leader of the opposition in his capacity as political leader of the SLP?

That trip by Kenny was not a state sponsored trip you know. This was a political trip to rally support for the SLP in New York. It was a partisan affair. St. Aimee had no business being there, Period!

If you think I am wrong just read what the write up claims. " The opposition leader continued his presentation by referencing the mechanism begin implemented as his party parepares for the next general election."

Could this by why St Lucians in the big apple stayed away. If they did why couldn't St. Aimee?

I don’t know why everybody wants to blame Kenny for everything that happens. If the turn out was a disaster by Yankee standards and someone decides to mislead the country, the apportion of blame should go to them. I am certain that Kenny did not ask anyone to lie for him.

We need to learn to separate fact from fiction . Kenny was invited, and if the organizers did not deliver the numbers, tell me how did Kenny mislead the people of St Lucia.

Obviously, if there is a fictious component to what is being reported, the onus is upon those persons who refuse to accept their limitations after failuere, and go on to distort the facts in an effort to hide their gross incompetence and lack of public influence.

Let us to fair here to Kenny.

What those people said is correct. Kenny went to New York as the Political Leader of the St. Lucia Labour Party. I am sure he did not tell the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the New York office or St. Aimee that he was coming. Kenny never wants to have anything to do with anything to do with the UWP. Yet St. Aimee the UWP candidate for Laborie and the Ambassador turns up to meet and greet the Leader of the St. Lucia Labour Party. Eh Eh.

It doesn't matter whether Keith was a UWP candidate or not. He is now a GOVERNMENT official, as in government of ALL St. Lucians.

I think it was appropriate to make a courtesy call on the Leader of the Opposition.

Some of you are so partisan, your sh!t is coloured.

You mean at a political function where the SLP leader is talking about plans of winning the next elections? ah! explain that to dummies.

Anonymous said...

The Labour party WILL form the next government whether you all flambeaus like it or not!!!! Take that and smoke it!!! We need to restore credibility, good name and dignity to St Lucia. All the cronies singing for their supper, know that your days are numbered. If you know whats good for you all , begin the reconcilliation process NOW to save your selves. UWP has resurected all "jeri-art-triks" from Jurassic park back to politics. I am watching DBS news two nights ago and saw Percival MC Donald on the news!!! MY WORD WHERE WAS HE? AWA may- saye. Time to go flambeau time to go!!!

Anonymous said...

St. Aimee might as well have just gone to a SLP political rally in Laborie and sat next to Kenny !!!

Anonymous said...

That's all those SLP hacks are good for. SLP is going to win the next elections? What? In your mouth. Here's where I say they can't win the next elections. First of all, any party that begins a campaign on the premise of the lie can't be trusted. When your party leader goes to New York and come back and say that endless or hundreds of St Lucians were there to greet him, how do you explain that lie?

Don't we need leaders that we can trust. I don't understand it. Why all the lies.

They are just very ashamed of themselfs. King is not doing well at all yet St Lucians are not flocking to towards their party. LOL All they are attracting are the same ole cheer labar. LOL

Anonymous said...

We need a new party, those two have been there for too long and they're taking things for granted.

MY fellow st lucians Dr st.amiee did show up,when he did the function was over... done finish.

True or false:
125 persons at barbecue false.
75 persons true.
80 persons lucian paradise
function false.
65 persons true.
i was there..at each function and
i am apolitical... but St Lucian
at heart.

Your numbers are closer to mine.
On that St Aimee thing, I am told that the reason why he was there was to confront the SLP about certain accusations that were made about him. The news is that Sarah is responsible for passing on certain information about him to the SLP, long before she informed her own PM.

No one should be fooled. Keith knew very well that the SLP would be over there that Sunday, or shall I say a hand full of pro Kenny partisans.

Anonymous said...

My friends, Keith was not present for the SLP political functions. He went there afterwards to say hi to Kenny and other Saint Lucians gathered there. St. Aimee is a Saint Lucian at heart, and he would always take such an opportunity to mingle with his Lucian folk. By the way, did you all know that Keith and Kenny are buddies? These guys grew up in Laborie together and have been comrades forever. Why should that change?

What happen St. Aimee could not wait for another day to have a drink there. Don't tell me he was so swaare-if for rum. Yes people did not turn out but St. Aimee must have known that a political thing was happening there. Unless he had gone over there to maco.

Remember we are St.Lucians first, political affiliation second. Don't make politics an everyday thing.

Anonymous said...

Saying we are St Lucian first, songs good, and this is only a saying. Once you are a St Lucian, who cares you must be concerned or speak about politics. Only selfish people , who have it made, do not speak about politics in St Lucia. By reason for saying that is St Lucia is a small country, and everything that happen, economic or otherwise depend 100% on what the government does. They are the one to stimulate the economic. Everything is depended on them. So if they are not doing well, as our present government is. People will discuss it, because they are felling the squeeze. Also there are some who know full well the government is not performing but they still try to defend.

Kenny Anthony = Kenny Rogers???

Of men and politics the agony of St Lucia.

In government they were spin a machine, in opposition no difference. Same sh.t different day. I am glad to hear that them New York Lucians did not fall for the bait. Glad to know that out of over 11,000 lucians only a handful of die heart cheerlabar thought much of Kenny's visit.

One hundred and twenty five St Lucians showed up to welcome Kenny Anthony in New York? In my opinion that's a fair amount of people.

Over 75% of St. Lucians in New York do not have the time to focus on St Lucian politics especially those between the ages of 18-30.

A whole lot of people never even knew the man was in town.
Many of those who knew and reside in the outer limits of New York City like New Jersy, The Bronx Queens and Long Island would have to pay more to commute to Brooklyn in these times of economic downturn as the MTA (Metrpolitan Transit Authority) has just raised the fares for the trains and buses that service the city.

The man was in town around and during the US Independence Day Weekend when many Lucian/Americans celebrate with backyard BBQs.

If the guy drew 150 people during this time of year, No doubt! he did good. I don't take sides but how many do you think King would draw?

Anonymous said...

Don't make me laugh. At a paid party for independence at $100.00 a head King drew 350 plus people amidst controversy. At a free BBQ and big time meeting under 150.00?

The whole of St Lucia and New York knew Kenny was in town. It was all over the news and even in the free new york newspapers that most of us does pick up here in Brooklyn on the weekends the news was in there. Don't come here with this lame excuse of wrong weekend etc. The turn out was pure magee by New york standards. It was the best weekend for him to come and don't make any excuse for that. Compton came up about the same time a few years before and pulled nearly 3,000 lucians. Try topping that.

Give up on it for criss sake. The damn thing was a flop. Move on...

You all my dear people, who are saying Kenny did not draw people in New York, who cares, only a few people in New york will come back home to vote anyway. You all must come to the MARKET STEPS one day to see the crowd Kenny draws, that is all that matters. Anyway when you all come home in the next couple of years Kenny will be our beloved PM again and all of us will be proud of St Lucia once more.
