Most countries subsidize fuel prices so that the USA can have the cheapest gas in the world. Why hasn't the goverment tried to find other suppliers not linked to America, was it Chavez who wanted to supply cheaper gas, an opportunity for this high cost of living country lost by turning this down. When fuel is expensive so is everything else e.g. food, clothing etc, fact of life, so come on goverment, baffling people with statistics does not ultimately make things clearer for people to understand the importance of this comodity for every aspect of their daily lives.
A country like St. Lucia deserves to have something at a reasonable price for a change oin stead of paying through the nose for every little thing.

Why are not oil prices adjusted every month?

Must Lucians be ripped off forever?

Can't the "cabinet" calculate fast?

Not relative to the good of the masses. This kitchen cabinet needs a clean up. Too much dust, stale food, spiders, rollers and process food.
Some fresh fruits and vegetable is prefered.

Adjusting the price of gas would be nice huh Curvy gurl, but st lucia cannot survive with an adjustable rate for gas. For this to happen it would mean that st lucia would be operating an open market which would make gas prices higher as the dealers would be setting the price. The government already has to subsidise the price of everything which is proof st lucians cannont survive an open market economy. St Lucians for as long as I can remember oppose VAT.

_______________

And for how long can St. Lucia go against the trend?

Curvy, OPEC controls the price of gas. When gas prices soared OPEC was the one who stepped in to put restrictions on the amount of petroleum being pumped and the price. If the st lucian government did not step in when gas prices reached in excess of $5 a gallon in the US St Lucians could be looking at a price of about $15 not taking into consideration the other taxes and transportation cost which will be passed down to the consumer. Now when the price of gas is at a low all is good and well but what happens when there is sustained growth for months on end? With pertroleum being a monopoly market has forced the push for alternative energy.
