Sanders is a diplomatic service wonk, so I understand where he is coming from (when all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail). His article does not reflect reality, and can be seen as smokescreen to hide his inability to speak plainly and truthfully.
All he had to say was that political leaders in the Caribbean are not about the people’s business; their primary objective for pursuing a career in politics is to line their own pockets in as short a space of time as possible!
Hye De-mystify: All that you meant to say in your first post was said in your second. So I don't see any diference between and Saunders in that respect.

The Caribbean is in a mess because its leaders are all messed up intellectually and morally.
I agree, they still have the slave-driver mentality where one of them is chosen only to whip his own people to death.

Also, there is nothing timid about the politicians in the Caribbean; they are aggressive barracudas focused on their own personal gain!
