I am so proud of myself. before reading this article, I made this exact observation, that the speaker should be guided by the standing orders and she was not in a position to rule on a constitutional motion. Furthermore, that the standing order was drafted to compliment the constitution and therefore one cannot reasonably argue that the relevant section regarding the deputy speaker is contradictory to the constitution. Even if it were, she would have to stick to the standing order for the time being and allow whoever disagreed to challenge it in court. The standing order clearly states that the post of ds must be appointed before the businness of the house continues. If the opposition had norminated one of their members, they would have to be seen as the worse enablers in this country. They are the ones who have been telling us how corrupt this government is.

These responses are clear and straight forward and demonstrate a professional integrity that is lost on those who suffer from a self-imposed ignorance that is exhibited by their personal attacks (ad hominem)on the eminent professor - a rather dishonest form of "argumentation".

Professor Antoine has pellucidly shown why the Speaker's ruling is erroneous.
