The SLP Administration of 1997-2006 has cost St. Lucia $450 million in the past 5 years (2007 -2011) because of the interest and principle payments on debt incurred due to their mismanagement inclusive of rochamel, road cost overruns, NCA and a host of other issues.

How come no one is asking for Mario Michel to come back? It is clear from his positioning that Phillip Pierre is incapable of managing himself out of a paper bag so the Labour Party needs help.

Wikileaks on Kenny Anthony.

This is what the US Embassy relayed to the American State Dept about that failure Kenny Anthony who raised our National Debt to $1.6 billion and our interest payments from $16 million a year to $65 million a year. That is why St. Lucia now has to borrow so much to keep afloat. St. Lucia has had to borrow an additional $250 million in the last 5 years to pay just the INTEREST on Kenny incurred debt on TOP of the $200 million to pay for Rochamel, NCA and road cost overuns.

Ҧ10. (C) Despite the positive mood of the day's events, post
considers PM Anthony AN UNRELIABLE PARTNER whose commitment
to security responsibilities consists of SELF-CONGRATULATIONS
and COSMETIC SOLUTIONS such as replacing local police
commanders with British police officers (Ref A), without
insuring the logistical or political support the law
enforcement personnel need. Post's interagency Law
Enforcement Working Group believes that St. Lucia's security
forces are actually one of the better performing groups in
the eastern Caribbean. The forces' effectiveness could
benefit, however, from the replacement of several individuals
in leadership positions. The Prime Minister has not seen fit
to make those changes.

¶11. (C) As in the matter of the delayed Article 98 signature,
PM Anthony refuses to take responsibility for realizing
security commitments while declining to delegate or
relinquish the authority needed to meet them. In observing
his interaction with his own citizenry throughout the day,
Ambassador Kramer concluded that PM Anthony is not interested
in acting locally or leading globally; his sole focus seems
to be on maintaining his position rather than providing a
vision for St. Lucia's future.

Karl, I like your trend of thought. All parties send their best slate and after the election the best winners (the people's choice) are used to form a coalition for good governance. But Karl, isn't that how we select the West Indies team. I think if accepted we would respect the chosen captain and support him to ensure that Government performs. Who say the West Indies cannot have their own system of governance. It would be nice to have an academic/intellectual debate on the model. For sure less valuable time would be spent on divisive manouverings. And, our people would feel a sence of oneness and pride. Karl Meow thinks the suggested model has something in it. Lets hope that we give this some constructive consideration -- we are not at war -- we want the best team for sweet Helen.
