Carlton, I have often pondered your question on why people become politicians. My friends consider me niaive because I believe people enter politics because to make things better, to improve the quality of life of the citizens. My friend says categorically that in St.Lucia people enter politics to make money period! If true then one of the reasons for this mind set is the fact that freedom has come cheaply , there has been no fight for freedom. St Lucias politics has no cause , no belief system. Note the calibre of politicians fielded in the last election, the integrity of numerous is questionable , but nothing is done. There is even evidence of a current minister being a convicted felon, and nothing is done. The old adage rings true we get the politicians we deserve!
