Some one from the CFD really needs to come forward to say Sorry for the poor setting for the FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS and the lack of lights in the city of Castries this year. Not only this has toned down the festivities but the merchants are also not inspired to light up their show windows, the banks and other places have little or no displays...the CITY is like a cemetery at night..Jeremie street is the livest part..and we are ready to inspire our children, the youth...invite tourist here...I have more...but seasons greetings and a better next year.
i honestly don't know what happened at festival of lights this year. An event when staged on the Derek Walcott square brightens up the city center with lights and at nights it looks so pretty. What about the square this time? not even a little something something to give people taste to go have a seat or a walk in town? what is becoming of St. Lucia? we try keeping culture alive when culture is disappearing right before our eyes. Who's to blame this time?
Am in total agreement with "naturalist" for this year's glaring BLUNDER where the festival of lights are concerned this year.
And I add to his/her post - most of the lights came from vehicle headlamps and tail-lights of automobiles caught off guard with unnecessary road blocks, and had to go bumper to bumper along The Calvary, Conway, The Darling, La Pansee, Morne Du Don, Jeremie Street and La Chausee ... all trying to get in and out of Castries City in a chaotic and disheveled manner!!
Shameful!!
D.W. Square is a much better location for such an event.
