Notably absent were two of the oldest schools that in the past were staples of interschool competition. I am referring to St. Mary's college and St.Joseph's convent. As an SMC old boy I am concerned about that and can only wonder if a proud tradition of college sports, that in the past would shut the town down for a half day , has lost that edge.Is it a coincidence that that occurred at the same time that those schools are no longer run by the Brothers and the Nuns.

What was the actual distance for the race? 5k? 3k? It would help to know that to put the times into context.
