With so many children birthing so many other children, of course the great lack here are necessary parenting skills. People are not born with those you know.

When we stay in St. Lucia we are struck by the amount of roadside garbage that is piling up and creating environmental issues.
This will become the legacy for the future children. Plastic and styrofoam does not disintegrate.
Recycling and collection must be addressed now.

I am in agreement with the author if this article, especially where she raises a VERY BIG CONCERN about:
(1) children birthing children
(2) parenting skills does not come with a hand book.

Although there are departments (both government and private) to deal with family issues, unfortunately (why? this should not be) they are very poorly manned, financed and managed.

It is also unfortunate (why? this should not be), that the powers that be ... glide over the government and private departments who are supposed to foster family issues, with no subsidies and/or stipends. These departments have to make do by themselves with whatever little resources they have to do so.

The family and social affairs of St Lucia are supposed to be dealing with people of tomorrow - but ... St Lucia *sigh*, you know the rest. Everything in this land is now politicised, instead of being really looked at from a front row seat.

It is TIME TO STOP politicising issues and deal with the very important issues at hand - family affairs being one of them. (There are so many).
