i understand what you are saying..the vulnerable needs protection from this oppressive tax called VAT... but unlike the UK..which is rife with economic power and dollars to back it up..st lucia doesn t have the luxury of the UK..or the rest of the E.U. .. so charging VAT on what may seem to be items frequently utilised by the poor .. is a double edged sword..cause we dont have a huge economy in not charging VAT on most items... so sadly the GOV has no choice.. but to spread VAT taxes..on most goods..
Have no fear. We can survive off the land. Let's go back a few years when we sustained life on strictly local foods. We do not need apples and pears. We have mangoes of all varieties as well as plumbs and the list goes on. If we go back local and stop the importation of foods there will be no vat tax to be paid and the local economy will get a boost. Go lacal
You do not realize by now that it is not about St. Lucians or the children(as the song goes)or the cost of living for the middle class.
It is about Kenny/Tony and Phillip and their continued spending like madmen. It is Kenny and Phillip who borrowed $2 billion+ over 10 years so St. Lucians have no money to pay civil servants or to invest because of interest payments.
But you St. Lucians can't see that. You cannot see cause and effect. You oly hear now for now as Kenny/Tony bamboozle you with all the fancy words out of which nothing comes for St. Lucia's development. I do not see any of you protesting except for writing silly letters in the newspaper and chances are you voted for this incompetent in 2011.
If your PM is not sophisticated, he will remain clueless as to how to navigate the shoals of economic turbulence that will continue to batter our domestic economy.
The implementation of the VAT and the innanities and posturings of the phoney Opposition MISleader (our leading pension freeloader and B.S.-er), are cogent examples of the wall of incomprehensibility and incomprehension facing over 95percent of St. Lucian politicians.

The PM does not understand Mathematics. He has no grounding in Economics.
The PM is like a monkey in a museum. He does not understand value. Poor country boy!

So start thinking straight!
UWP is even less competent than the SLP! St. Lucia is in the twilight zone, between a rock and a hard place.
In the land of the blind (saint), the one-eyed man is now Kenny; it used to be "king" with a capital "k".
3.15 pm eating local food is much healthier for us and will save us money.
