As If SLP did not know that when it was under their watch crime started to spike. They spent another 5 years in opposition talk trash wihtout a crime plan. In power, look at where we are? The same place they left us in 1997.

This is quite a revelation by Mr. Victor LaCorbinierre! He is the country's Security Minister and receives a huge salary and other perks from the public purse. By admitting that he cannot do anything to protect us and is in even frightened himself tells us that he cannot do the work. We must now bring this to the attenton of the Prime Minister. We must demand of him a Minister of National Security who can protct the nation

I await HTS's spin on the issue on Monday. Look for them to not report this story, and if they do, look for them offer a water down version of the story.
They should allow marijuana to be sold. Money is tight and could be valuable source of income. States in USA now sell it, as do some European countries. Police resources should be focused on cocaine and the hard stuff.
And after we allow marijuana to be sold, which according to you is the soft thing, years to come when cocaine is replaced by a harder subsbance, we should free it up too? Right?
If the government is really serious about tacking the drug trade they should first start with individuals/business people who have accumulated wealth that is not reflective of their tax returns. They should pull those tax returns, stuy them and compare it with the accumulated wealth of that individual in St. Lucia. That should give them a good idea of what to do and where to look next. Not only the "little man" who is now flashing wealth should be looked at but everyone including ministers past and present, civil servants past and present, and business people.
The criminals have more money than the government and they do not need VAT to raise money and they do not have to pay VAT...just hand the country over to those with the most money and these guys will tell us how corrupt the politicians are.
All merchadise exchanges valued at the minimum narco trade levels should be subject to the VAT.
Upon being brought before the courts, the law should stipulate payment of all back taxes in VAT to reflect the amounts of cash stashed or discovered in bank balances.
Relatives would have to pay the back taxes based on bank reports of interest gained or earned as "taxable income".

Did you not read the last sentence? Focus on cocaine and the hard stuff. I live in Europe and have travelled widely- marijuana is a minor aberration compared to serious narcotics dealings.
Both the consumption of marijuana and narcotics dealings are very dangerous business. Both of them bring serious health and social problems to society. None can be considered a lesser eveil. So we better wake up to the reality and the sooner the better!
Minister La Corbinierre talks as though he is not part of the solution to this growing problem in society. But we want him to outline for us the government's plan to save our people and country from going under the weight of the widespread use and abuse of marijuana and narcotics dealings.
Why the hell do elect governments again? Oh yes!
So that they can tell us that they don't have the b lls to take a hard stance on the issues.
Is La Corbinierre of one sex but an entirely different gender?

One cannot tackle the drug problem without looking at some of the underlying causes. You do not just deal with the sympton of a desease, you deal with the cause.
When it comes to crime in St. Lucia, whether it is drugs or otherwise; a lot of it stems from lack of opportunities and hoplessness. How many people in St. Lucia with good paying jobs do we have on record as having commited the kinds of crimes of which the Senator speaks (whie collar and theft, corruption is another issue).
First, we need to great better opportunites for those who would not get involve in a life of crime if they have a way of making a decent living. That will leave the authorities to deal with the hardened criminals.
We need to educate our people, train them (prepare them for jobs/careers), and provide the opportunities that will make them proud members of a good society. Then we go after the rest of the hardened criminals.
To fight cime in a climate of high unemployment, and little hope, has not really worked anywhere else, why should it work in St. Lucia. Look at the places that did it successfully; they first provided viable alternatives. If we do nto do that, the crime rate will increase, and the criminals will oly get more determined, more daring, more creative, and stronger.
The senator is right, without a course correction now, we should all be very, very afraid.
What will we do?
The people are afraid, the ministers responsible for helping to fix the situation are afraid, that does not bode well for the future :(
First of all they can start by trying to have young people GET MARRIED before starting a family. The greatest reason for the churning out of ill desciplined murderous and thuggish youth is the ABSENCE OF THE FATHER IN THE HOME.
So tell Kenny Anthony , his wife and the liberals in UWI and at the UN to stop promoting prostitution, abortion, same sex marriage and concentrate on building up nuclear families in St. Lucia.
Tell Kenny to show the youth an example and STOP BORROWING RECKLESSLY and spending like a drunken sailor. When you do this you show the youth no DISCIPLINE. They then feel they can go and sell drugs the same way your government goes to Parliament and just borrows money on the heads of future generations. It is now $100 million at a time!
When the young thugs see ill desciplined politicians they also think it is OK to get money anyway that they can.
Kenny and Phillip are drowning in their own manufactured hogwash and can no longer smell the stench coming from their policies.
Kenny was the same one who in his first or second term was asking Mennisa to give him advise on how to stem the violence!
And now Lucians expect any better ! We will keep on sliding for the next 4 years!

It saddens me that those brainwashed colour blind party supporters don't see the solemnity in the assessment of the state of affairs of our beloved country by our security minister. It is really a sad state of affairs and must be taken seriously. We all have a part to play. Let us stop being cowards and report any known illegal activity in our immediate neighbourhood. You can remain anonymous if you call from a public phone well away from your neighbourhood. Stop harbouring known criminals for a dime. Be vigilant 24/7. Keep a close eye on strangers/foriegners/deportees. Don't get caught in the midst of criminal activity. Don't support your kids' criminality. We must stand together in this fight or fall together. REPORT TO THE POLICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh shocks! Now I understand why Carmy Joseph is so dismissive of opinions expressed against the SLP.
What has HTS or Claudius to do with our deplorabe situation? Neither did it begin 10 months ago (ie. since the labour party re-emerge). Who does anyone think he/she is fooling? The root of it begins at the top (yellow and red alike . The biggest players are politicians and buisness owners. It then trickles down to the smaller fish which includes you and I. We now lust for money and therefore, anything goes (drugs, bribery, prostitution, thieft). Do some soul searching. No one seems to ask what they can do for the island? Everyone asks what the island can do for me especially those entrusted to give us direction and a sense of purpose and security.
La Corb, are you frightened because 'may I help you' is code for 'kill the bastard in the Grave Yard. If the police gets to him before us, we all will be caught'?
Alright.. Here i go; you wanna curb crime? You need to frighten the youth into not thinking about that path! Kill, kill, kill, no mercy. Make strong examples of criminals, known and unknown. One thing about a bad man in St. Lucia -THEY SCARED TO DIE. Show the criminals the REAL outcome of a life and see a change. The prisons are packed, the bandits believe that a lawyer or 'links with a lawyer' constitutes to some sort of amnesty- let's change that perspective. Look what happened with ‘operation restore confidence,’ confidence was restored, right? Execute these elements, especially those prone to violent acts. Frighten the youth. And remember for this kind of change, there must be casualties!

The police and the criminals are in cohort they will go back and tell the morons who said what, and the blood shed will continue. The youth seem to be the segment of the population responsible for most of the crime. The highest rate of umemployment is also concentrated in the youth group. Lack of opportunity leads to feelings of desperation and frustration, which inevitably leads to an increase in crime. Since the economic situation will not improve any time soon, the crime will continue to increase. There are a lot of people being paid a lot of money to do nothing- to tell us that they are frightened. Sweet St. Lucia is no more and all we can do is point fingers.
All the research in the USA and the UK that the liberals like Kenny do not show you is that it is not the drugs or poverty or gangs that is leading the youth astray.
The biggest factor causing the breakdown of society is THE ABSENCE OF THE MAN in the home. The single mother family feminizes poverty and destroys young lives.
Yet the liberal/progressives like the abortion supporters Planned Parenthood chose to push all the things that mash up families. Abortion, same sex marriage, prostitution and all the vice they can find.
A set of them are now trying to promote sex in schools to underage children to sexualize them into vice - see what they had to stop in the school curriculum in Jamaica recently. Trying to taech them to "pleasure" themselves and to say that their sexual identity can change as they grow up.
So we have destroyed our Judeo Christian ethic and values that made white societies great and we expect that we will improve as a society.

What we would like to hear about is the strategy you have in place to put the country on the right path!! Oh! What did you say? You have none? Well, here's a good place to start. Begin by searching your "house" and your "back yard". Big fish tend to have strong connectings in high places. These influential connections tend to protect the 'big fish' while their little minions take the fall. Find foreigners to go undercover. I strongly suggest foreigners because, in St.Lucia everybody knows everybody and we all know how lucians like to talk!! Unless you crack that solid wall of protection, the situation will just get worse. You need the support and trust of the public. Give them a reason to trust our authority and you may make a dent. Just saying!!!

Why doesn't anyone query the already sad state of the St Lucian economy and the rampant poverty that exists in St Lucia. Those politicians keep trying to keep us blinded and then they keep sucking up on us like vampires. Why the hell did VAT have to be so important while St Lucians are suffering? Maybe one honest citizen acknowledging the truth of the matter. Most politicians especially past are well corrupt, hiding behind respectability. Prend toute, prend toute....
