This editorial is entirely wrong. The editor is a mad man or is so disconnected to what is happening in st.lucia that he needs to be fired.
one thing is certain. he is disconnected to what happened during the two days of bachannal in st. lucia carnival 2013.
Mr. Editor: there was a shooting, in fact two. several skirmishes involving individuals with knives. several of them were arrested.
there were several fights some broken up by the police. having said that how in the hell was carnival 2013 'relatively crime and violence free.' what planet have you been living in Mr. Editor
if the operative word is 'relatively' am i to assume that one shooting or two shooting deaths means a crime or violent free event and that five shooting deaths mean it was not crime and violent free.
what does the operative word 'relatively' signifies?
please explain.
am i to believe that relartively mean quiet because the violence was few in number?
The leadership of the Royal St. Lucia Police Force; has shown visible results; in a positive direction.
The rank-and-file and the Management under under Commissioner Francois; no doubt; has shown that there was every good reason to remove Ausbert Regis as Commissioner of Police.
This was the best thing in the interest of St. Lucia; the country.
There were several stabbings and while these were not fatal, they were criminal in nature. The weekend was quiet compared to other years. I believe the heavy police presence aided in that respect. That should have been done a long time ago. Now we need to keep that police presence throughout the year particularly in the known hot spots. Police presence should not just be reserved for major events as crime happens everyday.

The operative word is "relatively". The only problem I have with this piece is that the kudos all went to the COP and not the entire RSLPF.
