Just we we thought that the Americas were moving.

On a second thought, how did Castro came in power, was it not by overthrowing someone else? So who are they to talk?

I think both Chavez and Castro are afraid because the same thing might happen to them and they might lose the firm grip they have on their people.

Viva La Democracia! Siempre

excuse me chavez was voted into power...the electorate is very polarised in Venezuela...but th epoor are big in numbers and they had been oppressed for a long time under the previous system...Chavez's social missions have brought free primary education and subsidies food to the people in more than 20 yrs in Venezuela...something we take for granted in St. lucia....Chavez is not perfect but the prior administration was a horrible corrupted edifice...they were bilking all the funds from petroleos de Venezuela Sociedad Anonima...the state oil company...and lining their pockets as well as that of the big oil compnies in the US and Europe...no money was going into social development.....people should try to criticise intelligently....this coup needs to be stopped...

and by the way the regime previus to that of castro was the same in cuba when it was a playgroud for rich, racist, and mobster americans to control the wealth and the government....while the people were dirt poor and illiterate...castro is not perfect ....it is ofcourse time for change...but every thing in its context instead of spitting out blind nonsense....itelligent criticism...everyone one democracy is not the same and every path to democracy is not the same...and it never should be...political arrangements should be shaped by the history, desires and the facts on the ground in every country...people will get to a better place with encouragement not will ill considered analysis...its seems you have disregard the plight of the poor in both cuba an venezuela in your statement...do some reasearch and reading.

Raul should ease-up on the people otherwise there will be an implosion and they will take back their country.

The younger generation needs more.
The Embargo hasn't work and it's only hurting the people so the Castro regime should do something about it. 50 yrs is enough.
