Incantation for a Leader To Go

Before these articles came out it had already been brought to the attention of the SLP executive that the UWP had recruited someone to make Dr. Anthony look bad. Could this be the one?

I believe that both Denys Springer and Marianna Williams have been recruited by the UWP to make Kenny look bad.

Often when a party loses an election, they change leadership.

The UWP doesn't need to recruit anyone to make Kenny look bad. He can do it very well by himself, thank you.

We need new leaders in all parties, not the same old guys who had time to become crooks.
We need career politicians, not MPs who hide behind closed doors all day long to run their private businesses.

Well done man. It is very clear to most of us that Kenny has outlives his usefulness. He could not take St Lucia to paradise in the last 10 years of his adminstration and I doubt he can if given a 2nd chance.

He is just about done and though the scaretels may shower him with priase, outside of the SLP comfort zone, St Lucians are not sold on having Kenny again.

Why are they so afraid of Kenny? All of a certain some people want him to go, as if he imposed himself where he is. I believe that is a ploy to create some sort of instability in the slp to give the incompetent uwp a slight chance. He was voted in Vieux Fort, and also by his party. Where has Hiliare won a seat? We are not even sure he can win a seat, but he is the man some people is calling for, I do not know if he had shown any interest in that position. I strongly believe if any one has to go is the scandalous government we have today in Our beloved St Lucia.

Deny's have some good points in this article, however its clear that over the years his tune continue to change depending on who is in charge. he loves to sing for his supper. Valid points though so i will make the difference betwenn the message and the one singing. I will however take serious objections to your charatization of Hillaire of not being a peoples person and only for himself. Where were you when Ernest was doing his voluntary work with the NYC and CFU? We love too promote people who are popular, yet we refuse to ascertain whether they are capable or not. This is the malady affecting us we love popular persons but we dont give a hoot as to whether they are capable and can perform and serve the nation effectively. While Marianna is doing her hit job so are you.

In defence of Denys:

As a past member of the NYC, I too support what Denys has said.

I don't remember Hilaire any different. He always give the impression that he was better than the rest of us. Involement does not mean that you are a people's person. There are many person who are invole in community activites yet they are distant from the cause which they claim to help. It's easier for them to give orders than to follow on it themselves. Hilaire is one of those persons. Lazy, if they say the least.

The people didn't want Kenny to lead the country, they wanted reform and they gave it to Compton. It means that there is something about Kenny that most St.Lucians do not like.

Anonymous said...

That Hilaire guy has vicious eyes and I don't trust him, he looks mean.

Anonymous said...

He is a mean guy with a vicious mind. Those who know him up front and personal can attest to that. Any inclusion of Ernest in the body politik of our country can only mean one thing: Retribution. These fellas are dividing the country along party lines than uniting it around a common cause.

Hilaire does not have the fine attributes of a politician. If anyone is expecting him to win a seat base on this "Dr" BS, they better think again. When it comes to electing candidates the people of St Lucia will decide, not the rank and file of the SLP. Hilaire already have all the votes that can be cast. They are the die heart SLP supporters who often go out to vote for any broom stick with STAR symbol on its head. Outside of that, it's going to be music to the ears of who ever Hilaire is going up against.

Let the night mare campaign begin for the SLP. You go St Lucia!

I love this " he always gives the impression that he was better than the rest of us" another one "that guy hillaire has a vicious eyes i dont trust him"..."he is a mean guy with a vicious mind"..."involvement does not mean you are a peoples person" Do we ever wonder why we always get the people we deserve? It is this kind of backward thinking of casting aspertions on the character of persons which we cannot substantiate that have us here today. We seem mostly interested in the popularity of the person as opposed to his abilty to do the job of the office he is running for. I am not saying that popularity is not important, but my so many of those popular ones who have been given the opportunities to serve have been abject failures. Just take a look around the popular ones we have elected and u can see for yourselves. If you plant apples how do you expect oranges. We like it so

I am not a friend or confidant of Dr. Hilare but have met him on a few occasions.

What I can say about him is that he gives the impression of competence.

The fact that he has anything to do with administrative positions in cricket in St. Lucia or the Caribbean unfortunately does not add to his CV in any positive way if you look at the debacle of the World Cup held in the Caribbean, the poor marketing of that event and the subsequent administrative mess of cricket in the Caribbean. It seems that cricket in the West Indies has only highlighted the poor philosophy and mindset that seems to be that of our present leaders in the Caribbean. It does not help that Hilare is in with such a group. A jobs for the failed boyz situation.

Dr. Anthony appears to have a problem as there is a decided element within the country who want to see the back of him. It is a problem that he and his party will have to deal with internally and I wish them all the best of luck.

Philip Pierre I have met on a number of occasions and as far as politicians go I think that even if it is from a political perspective he more than Dr. Anthony has the people at heart as he knows that is the only way to gain their vote. Selfish or self serving at least he focus on the people. Does that mean that he can serve them well as Prime Minister ? I think that he can manage as PM but in a "holding pattern". He will not make any substantial progress but he will attempt to be positive within his limits which are philosophically limited and therefore his policies will not attain the level we need to really develope. He will not be subject to corruption (I do not think he is ultimately motivated by money but power)and I hope he would be able to control those around him.

Given the choice of the three there is obviously the issue of what the SLP delegates at a convention think ? Or at least how they can be made to vote. On that basis Hilare is out of the equation and Pierre would have to show the guts to go up against Kenny.

If Pierre was really interested then he would have to follow the following strategem. Quietly meet with all of the head honchos in each constituency who control delegates. It does not have to be to discuss leadership but to show he is interested in the country, the party and them.
His supporters will have to secretly plant the negatives on Kenny and support them in print, on talk shows and in general conversations.
Philip must then start to come out with contributions and ideas on the development of St. Lucia. Not in the petulant way he sometimes does but with authority and conviction to show his SLP people and the voters that he has what it takes. He has 18 months to manage his chances and if he does succeed it will be interesting to see if he can carry the ball. If he does we will have to see if we end up with a Compton or a Lewis !

Dr Anthony can not even take care of his own family much less St Lucia. His own brother is stooped in a wheelchair with no one to care for him or even a solid meal to eat. Can't even move himself to the toilet when necessary. Let's see the good "Dr" step up to take care of his own family first before considering putting the fate of the country in his hands again.

There goes Denys Springer AGAIN...Saint Lucia's NUMBER ONE POLITICAL PROSTITUTE pretending that he is unaware that Marianna Williams is a UWP plant. Marianna Williams is no supporter of the Labour Party, but rather Denys Springer HERSELF, prostituting herself as usual, in consort with Rick Wayne. NOW, that having been said, let me make it clear that I also have no use for Dr. Kenny Anthony. His BIG Doctorate has not helped him to be a good leader. It has made him no better than MADINUS Francois. What more convincing can St. Lucians need that Kenny is a liability to the Labour Party than the fact that the 83 year old John Compton whipped his behind? And this in spite of the wonderful STEP Project, new police stations everywhere, great and successful projects too numerous to mention all over the country, and the MINDBLOWER itself, the amazing Cuban Freeness of the EYE CARE Project? Yet OLD MAN Compy KICKED Kenny's behind??? What more guarantee do we need that Saint Lucians have said BYE BYE to Kenny? To add insult to injury, the man is a real MASSA just like his father and grandfathers before him, the Bernards, who were slave-owners at one time in St. Lucia. Kenny is always so willing to just sit on his fat behind and RELAX, enjoying the fruits of others hard work. Look how he maliciously played his dirty games to marginalize Mario Michel, connived with Vaughan Lewis against Phillip La Corbiniere, connived in and MESSED-UP the Castries Central Run-Offs that landed Richard in Parliament and signalled the END of the SLP government, and last but not least, has caused all the CHER-LABAR supporters to turn their backs on the Labour Party!! So, we don't need St. Lucia's NUMBER ONE POLITICAL PROSTITUTE, Denys Springer, to tell us about Kenny's uselessness as the future Leader of the SLP. We will be REMOVING HIM in due course, POLITICAL PROSTITUTE Denys or not. Donna.

There are more than enough competent people who can lead and serve the country in Government. But they will not come forward if their only route to service means joining a political party whose policies and princples they do not share. I cannot see any serious person joing either SLP, UWP or ONE at this time. And as we know Independents don't stand a chance in elections.

So in the absence of constitutional change, cwapot smoke we pipe.

In the meantime Saint Lucians must be clear about the qualities we want in a Prime Minister, so that the political parties can take note, when choosing political leaders. Ideally what we want is a cross between the vision, energy and selflessness of a Compton; the steady competence and ability to empathize of a Philip Pierre; the mobilization and communication skills of a Romanus Lansiquot; and the straight talking characteristics of an Allan Bousquet or Lorraine Husbands.

We should avoid making the mistake of assessing people only on their ability to occupy the PM slot. That generally is not how great leaders emerge. Hilaire may not now be able to demonstrate he has all the leadership qualities we're looking for, but given some time in Government, he may be able to convince us. Philip Pierre has the capacity to serve as PM but he has not shown the necessary inclination and has allowed himself to appear too comfortable in Kenny's rather large shadow.

Hilaire leadership potential, we need to know

Baggy show! LOL

The political opportunists or as some people like to say "prostitutes" in my mind are those who have propped up Dr. Anthony all along.
These include Tom Walcott, Leo Clarke, Neville Skeete, et al and are the ones who give Kenny the strength to hold onto the leadership of the St. Lucia Labour Party. None of these characters have contributed anything of worth to St. Lucia that they themselves have not received back 1,000 fold in contracts and political connections to enrich themselves. Nothing wrong with looking after yourself but when we have so much of this and so little progress in St. Lucia it is time to expose what is keeping the SLP so weak. Unless this happens and you all just have Kenny and his backers then crapo smoke yu pipe.

Bagguy show! LOL I like this very healthy debate. It was about time that St Lucians began thinking beyond Kind and Kenny.

How about Flavia Cherry? She is very progressive and her heart is set on the betterment of St.Lucians. We need more people with empathy to lead this country.

I also think that it's time for a woman to take the helm, there's too much testerone/BS flying around. It's time for change.

Why would anyone waste their time looking to the UWP or SLP to save St Lucia. There is a lot of falling out in the UWP and by the look of things there is a growing dissatifaction with the leadership of the SLP. Why don't those persons get together and form their own party. The advantage that the SLP thought they might have if ex flambeaus went alone would be greatly lost. St lucia still have a chance for something entirely new. Like most young people I speak to on a daily basis, I would not hesitate to cast a vote for a new group.

I agree with u, a third party is the answer, we need to walk away from the chains of the past and walk into the future.
