That commissioner is nothing but a little PUNK and needs to step down. You mean to tell me you got the threats from day one and instead he couldnt immediately tell the public why the man couldnt be charged but instead go n have a news reporter lose his job for showing the facts as well as some of the hypocritical members of the public supported the commissioner's view on attacking the reporter at time. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Yes, I'm still pissed at the way these things are being handle in the country. May Corporal Vincent Peters RIP and God's blessings over the family.

This is so sad that St.lucia is such a beautiful country and some of the people think that they are in control and could do such criminal acts and get away with it. What they donot realize the God is in control and he sees everything. The Government of St. Lucia need to take full control of their country the people of so many countries love St.Lucia and can now read so much on the internt about St.Lucia. The Bananas are gone the only thing we have is the tourist please stop the crime let live in peace stop hating love one another life is to short.See Hati's suffering it was not planned the whole world suffered. The people committing any crimes please stop pray and by God's Grace you will be free. Lucian that sad about St.Lucia's crimes and still cares

The Section of the Code should have included Law Enforcement Officers from the start for they stand in the line of fire and Government Employees also but in this climate of extreme criminal activities every citizens of the State should be included ensuring their protection and made feel safe and secure.

Well, well, well, well, what happened to our peaceful St Lucia?

Imagine, thousands of expats cannot come home to enjoy “Mother Helen” because of senseless crime by a small group of lawbreakers and cowards.

Now, don’t believe for one second that these criminals are the only criminals in our beautiful St Lucia. There are many corrupt attorneys, lower, middle and upper-class citizens, some government officials etc etc who don’t necessarily carry a GUN, KNIFE or do drugs, but are also destructive in criminal acts against thousand of St Lucian.

Because of those of us who live in massive foreign countries for decades, coming home will be nothing short of a civil war against these criminals. There’s no way that any of us would back down or run from these unpatriotic bastards. Being away has afforded us a whole new way of life. We think and act differently with respect for law and order just like we did when we were young roaming the streets of St Lucia long ago. However, we couldn’t allow these sub-humans to hold us captive under any circumstance.

Many in this new generation haven’t a clue about the real “Mother Helen”

All the different governments, past and present and the law are partially to blame for allowing a handful of punks, inferior beings, uneducated scum of the earth and extremely violent pieces of feces to ruin our paradise. It is so simple just to live in peace.

If the government and the law had paid serious attention to this problem a long time ago, they would have stopped these punks by storming their hideouts and neighbourhoods and take them out by any means necessary, and I do mean any means necessary. Criminals who kill have NO constitutional rights. That privilege is reserved for law abiding citizens.

You cannot make deals with these criminals like some government ministers tried to do by bringing them together to promote peace. The law must be obeyed. The citizens of St Lucia must live without fear and in peace. Mother Helen’s arms must be opened to welcome the visitors of the world without compromising their safety.

This is a 238 square mile rock which was once heaven in paradise. It is now being held hostage by a bunch of violent teenagers hiding in downtrodden areas with many respectable people living there, where they hide like cowards.

The government and the law must eradicate this problem by capturing these violent cowards by any means and prosecuting them on national television with a vengeance. That way, other hidden criminals and potential criminals will get the message very clear that St Lucia will do whatever it takes to protect its citizens and visitors from homegrown or foreign threat by any means necessary

This idiot is sickenin me by the minute. I think regis should be held accountable for the death of this gentleman. The idiot chose to chastise the reporter instead of using the intel to go after the goon who made the threat. her is a man giving the indication that he had access to firearms and the intelligence wasnt folowed up on. It is quite evident that regis is an impediment in that police force and for this dept to get any form of success this idiot should be made to leave. He is a coward and has no wit. Most officers will tell u that they are willing but have no support from the heirachy. Please Mr prime minister get rid of this NUT JOB.

Too bad we take that education and settle in another country.

We need to start tieing people to the country so they can pass their knowledge to the less fortunate and the next generation.

Mr. A-HOLE, where in this string of comments do you see blaming this on a particular party? It's disgusting to see in this sad state of affairs one would try and point fingers to a party on that incident. It's evident that ppl with the mentality like yours that keep the country back.

Guess what people - everyone who has access to the internet can read everything written here. You could be scaring the crap put of tourists around the globe with all your comments. I am appalled by recent events - my heart goes out to the victims & families of these senseless crimes. I fell in love with St Lucia in April 2009 - your country is astoundingly beautiful and the people I met were lovely - my best vacation ever! For a Canadian from Ontario it is an amazing place to visit - so different and so much to offer in the way of idle pleasures. And as a matter of fact I just booked my second trip to St Lucia just yesterday however in light of recent events I am seriously reconsidering my decision. Originally it had been my intention to visit Negril Jamaica, but it just seemed to pale by comparison to all St Lucia has to offer. Your wonderful island entices vacationers of all types and it is really quite special so I hope you and your government can clean all this up before the news becomes more widespread. I have put a thread on Trip Advisor forums which I will try to remove but perhaps some of you may want to chime in with some positive comments

First of all it is patently ridiculous for the St. Lucia Labour Party under Dr. Anthony to politicize crime when I like every clear thinking St. Lucian, clearly was aware of his incompetence in dealing with law and order during his 9 years at the helm.

We know how many St. Lucians died.

The best thing that the Labour Party did under their regime was to bring in a team of officers from overseas to add weight to the crime fight. Unfortunately they politicized their decision and brought in the overseas cops as “advisors” when in fact they should have replaced the top echelon of the RSLPF completely.

The RSLPF is fundamentally corrupt.

We know it and they know it.

There are reports on the corruption. There are overseas agencies fully aware of the corruption.
The first step in dealing with law and order is to replace all in the top echelon of the RSLPF. Not all of them are on the “dark side” but those that are not, have reached that far by turning a blind eye to the corruption of their colleagues otherwise they would have been drummed out of the Force a long time ago. They all have to go.

This is Step 1.

Anonymous from massive foreign you got that right brethren. There are many corrupt attorneys, lower, middle and upper-class citizens, some government officials etc. etc., who don’t necessarily carry a GUN, KNIFE or do drugs, they dress up is suits but are also destructive in criminal acts and have been raping
Helen of the West for many years and should share the guilt of death of this brave police officer.

Some people in authority are so corrupt they do not have the nerve to confront the criminals because they are part of the whole criminal enterprise. The criminals on the streets know of the officials' corrupt, dysfuctional and sexual perversive activities so they make deals and negotiate with them to promote peace.

Zeigy says "Government has been educating us for years.
Too bad we take that education and settle in another country." Yo Ziegy, calm down brethren, the education offered by The St lucia Government is limited and inadequate, by the time you pass it to the next generation it will be obsolete and outdated, so one has to go to foreign like Kenny, Odlum and others did to get the real thing, then come back home and not have a lot of pride because the have a title before their names but be humble to the people they serve. We St Lucians in a foreign can see clearly when these politician play (mislead) the people, for we have access to institutions of higher learning out here, this is why they and the joker (Juke Bois) do not want Lucians in a foreign to come back home and run things.
The criminals don't have nothing (no length) on Lucians in a foreign so there will be no deals or negotiations they will be instantly put away in penitentiary when found guilty and the attoneys, government officials and other white collar criminals who never get caught, the rust of their silver and gold shall devour their flesh.

No, it's not a problem for the government anymore.
It's a matter of people to get together and distroy the slums and those living in them.

Coporal Vincent Peter's Conference to curb Crime in St Lucia.

I lived in St Lucia for over 25 years and had only been to Dominica and Martinique for not more than a week then returned. In 1986 I migrated to the United States and spent 8 straight years away from my homeland. I have always been hearing visitors say St Lucia is a sooo very beautiful a place, it is a paradise. I can also remember Jeff Fedee my former teacher at the Castries Andlican School explaining why St Lucia was called the Helen of the West but I never was able to grasp this and could not understand it until on my return to St Lucia after an eight year absence. On my return to St Lucia in 1996, on the Pan American Airways flight there were just four St Lucian nationals including myself and a large group of North American visitors. As the the airplane approached St lucia I was very exited, I Said to myself "Yes Rasta I man coming home!" The Captain then made an annoucement, he said, "We are approaching the beautiful Island of St. Lucia" and all the visitors were very exited and were eagerly trying to get to a window to get a glimpse of paradise, there were gasps, people saying "O it's beautiful, Where are the Pitons?" and man I could not believe what I was seeing and hearing, it was amazing, and i got it, everything Jeff Fedee said when I was 12 years old came right back to me and when the airplane touched down and I got out I inhaled the fresh ocean breeze and looked around and saw Mount Moule a Chique, Maria Islands and the Vieux Fort coastline contrasted by the blue Atlantic ocean and the white foaming waves, I saw the real beauty the visitors were talking about before I left St Lucia in 1986 and before.

St Lucia's unique beauty is one of it's greatest assets; this unfortunate tradedy with Corporal Vincent Peter losing his life should have the Government and the Opposition putting politics aside and come together in a bipartisan way along with social groups, orgaizations and have a National Conference after the Corporal's name to come up with solutions to curb this violent climate of crime which could lead St Lucia into a dark period.

Real Strong Radio is expressing sorrow amd sympathy for the grieving famiy, relatives and friends of the deceased.

The incident involving the HTS reporter happened more than 6 months ago. Yet we have not heard any moves to amend the Criminal Code to make it a criminal offence to threaten the Police. This is unacceptable. Perhaps now we will see a wider review of the Criminal Code in the context of the alarming increase in crime. Perhaps now, we shall see tougher penalties for those who aid and abet criminal activity including insensitive reporters and politicians. Let's be clear about it! There is absolutely no difference between what Clinton Reynolds did when he aired the threats of a criminal against the Police and what Minister Frederick did when he interviewed the criminal "Bage". who openly described his modus operandi on radio. I wonder why the Police and the public did not react to Frederick's fooolishness in the same way they reacted to Reynolds'. With this kind of double standard and hypocrisy, it's hard to see any progrees being made in reducing crime in our beloved Saint Lucia.

Zeigy said...

^ Probably because the people who are able to articulate these ideas so clearly don't bother to live in the country.

Anonymous said...

Zeigy; There are more than enough concerned, patriotic Saint Lucians still living at home who are capable of articulating their concerns in the same way I have. It's been said before that bad things happen when good people do nothing. The criminals have created a crisis of fear in our beloved country. I am deeply troubled by the fact that there has not been any condemnation in the local press of Minister Fredericks' offensive interview with Bage. Not even those who have claim to bring the truth to light have said anything about it. This cannot be right. If we continue in this way making exceptions for people becasue of who are are, then we can forget about our crime becoming like jamaic's. We are on track to become like Mexico.

Police officers in saint lucia are crying out for their own safety and it is apparent that they are afraid to take the necessary measures to do so. I am talking from empirical evidence because i am one also. Police officers are being threatened by criminals on a daily basis and when they ask/apply for a service firearm to take home to protect themselves and their loved ones, the hierarchies ALWAYS give a cock n bull story. When they apply for a personal firearm......worse. For an officer to get a firearm in this police force to go home with, he must be part of the 'click' in other to get it. It is high time the authorities step up to the plate and realize whats going on in this country. The criminals out there are fully aware that certain police officers are only armed on duty. And when they return to their homes they have nothing to protect themselves. A Police officer was gunned down with a hand gun more sophisticated than what police officers are exposed to in saint lucia, and what does Mr Regis say.....'We will not allow those criminals to take over the country.' I just pray that we police officers will come together ONE DAY and protest against the shit that's happening, and the way the authorities treat the police force.....we need to stop stabbing each other in the back for power and favours cuz we are all in this shit together. Its time for the victimisation in the police force to stop. If the police intel dept can tap into police officers phones and frame them, why cant the same be done to criminals? I mean, we all no who the 'top' criminals are, we all know who the 'top' criminals in the FORCE are.....who ever it is, we need to stop being reactive and be more proactive in this shit. If police officers cant take a stand for themselves who will? When we do, all we get in return is victimisation (transfered to central et al.) They cant transfer the whole police force to central can they? I wud wish to produce an article in one of the islands newspapers and i would also wish that one of the talk show host cud start discussing the real issue of this country (the security and victimization of police officers)

WITH THAT I SAY NO MORE FOR NOW, I'LL AWAIT YOUR COMMENTS
FROM A CONCERNED POLICE OFFICER.
MY BADGE NUMBER HAS A NUMERICAL VALUE OF 12. MEANING WHEN U ADD IT UP, IT SUMS UP TO 12.
NO MO VICTIMIZATION
THANK YOU.

So why didn't you just give us your badge number?

Are you mad?? LOL. You want me to be black listed in that force for the rest of my life mun?
Next ting i get transfered across the country! Thats how the shit is in here u no.

Zeigy said...

I'm inclined to believe this man's story. A lot of our leader's are so insecure they are quick to try to shut anyone up who criticises their authority without trying to deal with the real issue first.

Keith Mondesir comes to mind and what he did to that officer in Anse La Raye.

We need to stop victimizing and thinking that we are better than our fellow lucian simply because we are serving in Massa's house and not out on the plantation working the field instead.

i am a tax payer, my taxes pay for the guns for the force, use them on these little basterds until all the bullets are done we will buy more, commissioner you better act fast or you will end up on the 'i need a jod bad list" act now.
