Cruise people don't spend money and the Islands are competing directly with the cruise ships.

Enough of this gibberish about the increase in cruise ship arrivals and visitors to St. Lucia in January. The average St. Lucia don't understand and don't really care about all these numerologies that the Tourist Board is feeding us. What St. Lucians really need to know is how much income was generated versus what was invested, and could this fragile economy survive on these forcasts. We all know that the passengers on these cruise ships don't spend money. In their short stay on the island, they probably take in the sights and walk around town. Most of these visitors are not rich. Most of them have been saving over the years to take this trip.
Tourism is Ok, but a country like St. Lucia cannot base it's Gross National Income on such a fragile industry.

Right on; Zapon...well said.

The income generated from those cruise ships, we will NEVER know, sadly.

Perhaps, income, if any, has been embezzled someplace.
