lol. Josie actually had the guts to write about individual greed! Greed is at the very core of your weekly brayings. GO AWAY JOSIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't hate> Peter has the write to write whatever he wants. He has the right talk about Greed. The first order of business for the sLP in office was to raise their salaries. The 2nd order of business was to offer pension to politicians after serving two terms.

YOU TALK ABOUT GREED WELL THIS IS GREED.

The SLP had full right to raise their salary because they worked for every penny they received. This is the first time we see so much development in St Lucia, in it history in such a short period of time. The majority of ministers in the present government do not deserve to be paid with our taxes, because they do nothing. I could name some of them for you, AS Ta Fan, AS In Jame, Shall mine, PM, both of our Guys, Pain en paniere, Manday day Zee, Easy Cal, Spida, Testa Tucker etc, etc all these guys do is to call and ask Chou to finance a little project here and there, none of then is working.

A former Minister who solicited and sort out foreigh investors now calling them "international gangsters". Would someone please tell Mr. Josie that we overseas with interest in the region read these papers, posts and blogs to find out where is best to put our money.

Could St. Lucia have been developed and advanced the way it has, albeit there is still lots to be done, but could it have without international investors aka "international gansters"? Could St. Lucia left to find it resources internationally have found the money needed for the new hospitals, hotels, roads, secondary schools, etc., etc.

It is true people have freedom of speech, but with that freedome of speech comes a responsibility, I doubt calling foreign investors "international gansters" is responsible.

It is the job of the government and the various agencies in St. Lucia to make sure business is conducted fairly and legally. There is greed everywhere, and cutting off the "international gansters" will not mean St. Lucians will not try to rob, cheat and steal. Or is it only "international gansters" that do bad business deals in St. Lucia.

Mr. Josie we can point out alot of things you did wrong, but we have chosen to respect the contribution you have made to St. Lucia and leave it at that. But since you started pointing findgers, here is just one example of your lack of leadership: as far back as 1975 the economist magazine, several UN agencies and regional bodies were siting the need for agricultural diversification, they were citing the need to educate the population especially young people for a knowledge based economy, you were in office what did you do about all the recommendations and warnings? Nothing. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Acting like you were never part of the problem.

Well said anon 9:53 pm...just had a conversation with someone about the SLU government's acumen in investment law and whether they rely to heavily on private law firms both in St. Lucia and abroad...and just maybe these factors coupled with the personal greed that is the title of the article...my be driving unsound business decisions at best or patently corrupt decisions at worst...

I think everyone agrees the airport requires an overhaul...but the size of the budget proposed at nearly half the country's GDP should give pause to those who are about to make the decision of who to hand it to...it should be done fairly and above board..

Also there is a valid point as to whether the figure given is too high...etc...it just seems liek there is alot of rushing here by authorities and the due diligence is falling by the way side

this is not a good way to start off when you are proposing a level of expendiature for which future generations of tax paying St. Lucians as yet unborn will have to foot the bill....

Oh there are indeed some entities posing as bonafide investors who are infact international gangsters or are linked to them...just thought I'd say that....when you deal with international criminal law and counter-terrorism law you tend to come across such phenomena...but by no means is this a broad brush with which to pain all international investors...

Kenny and Josie are in the same boat. Stabex and Rochamel I don't know which one is worst. They both cost the country millions. Kenny should do the country a favour and join Josie in retirement. Membet mem pwell.

We keep remembering to bringing back Rochamel, Rochamel, Rochamel, something which has gone through all kinds of forensic audits, and millions was spent on commission of inquire etc, etc. If Dr Anthony had done something so bad then he should be fined or should be in prison by now. What happened to all our money that was wasted on all these inquires, was it not millions wasted? Rochamel happened more than a decade ago it is still remains fresh in the mind of these bias UWPEEES but they are blind and deaf to all the money that is wasted PRESENTLY by the government. They also pretend to forget all the money that was wasted by the Compton administration. I challenge all these bias UWPEEES to show me ONE government on this earth, who has never made mistakes.

As long as you SLPs bring up Stabex fund, expect to hear Rochamel. You can't make other politicians look bad and expect Kenny's misdeeds are not going to surface.

It is time we start thinking and promote our country's interest. The airport expansion is one of the projects needed if we are to grow our tourism product further. My problem is A&M. Where are they from? We just heard their arrival at the Allan Bosquet Highway with no prior work experience in St. Lucia (probably nowhere else!), did not apply to the Tenders Board, didn't have equipment and did sub-contracting. Then after over a year and a half of waiting to starting the Desruisseaux road...BAM...A&M again and sub- contracting again to a company quite capable to do the work on its own. Then the airport, where has A&M built airports before or done similar expansion work? Of course they will sub-contract again. Don't you see a trend there...all the time sub-contracting. Does that appear normal to you? A company with no track record of construction…. all of a sudden getting contracts and sub-contracting them. Wouldn’t it cost the taxpayers less if the contracts were given to companies who could do the work themselves and with the experience in such construction/contracts so there would not be need for sub-contractors? Doesn't that look like siphoning money? And who is behind it?
With such a trend how do we know if the estimates are correct and not padded for the contractor? St. Lucia is ours and we should be vigilant as there does not seem to be any control from inside. Some Ministers are doing as they wish and will leave the mess for St. Lucians.
People like Mr. Josie could help since he is retired and has time on his hands. If possible I would be grateful for an article on the various housing projects that have started so far. There seem to be a problem there as well.
Common sense would dictate that if you start a housing project, you would see it trough completion or at least to some degree of completion and then start another one. That does not seem to be the case and I suspect the same strategy as above is being used to siphon money by laying down the infrastructure in these housing projects but very little or no houses.
Lucians look out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

St. Lucians cannot see the forest for the trees. They love to swallow and repeat what those uneducated and unsophisticated politicians [Marcus, Joseph, the PM, Mayers, Bousquet etc] and talkshow hosts like Jukbois tell
them too much.

St. Lucians love to take the easy road. THEY REFUSE TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES. Chastenet gobbling up an entire retail sector de supermarket business and appliances without any competition in sighte, and dem people have soap in their mouths.

Richards, gobbling up real estate like pacman, and they still have soap in their mouths.

Why can't St. Lucians understand and accept that if you remove the protective tariffs and your cost of producing bananas is too much higher than that in other countries, those countries will eat your supper?

What? All dem talkshow hosts on the air everyday, talking you know what are too dumb even to explain this simple truth.

That LPM fella told them last Sunday that tourism cannot take on the number of people thrown out of work from previous banana cultivation. He gave the crowd the very cold reason is why we have so much unemployment.

Not even the brightest and the best, like Jason, among the reporters there on Sunday seemed to understand what was explained about unemployment. They are not used to presenting the matters that are important. It was not roro.

Jose did not even see it fit even to make a passing comment on the inability of the tourism industry to take on the excess workers. St. Lucians are in even deeper trouble today than yesterday. The unemployment numbers are rising and not falling.

Which party understands the people's unemployment issues? It is not the SLP. They have not got to this point yet.

Don't talk about dem UWP nitwits. After cornering the supermarket business, one of dem fellas wants to sell us as slaves to Sandals for menial jobs and menial pay.

The other jokers in the pack don't have a clue about economics or any interest in helping St. Lucia get out of the unemployment mess that we are in.

They just give the lazy St. Lucians who do not care enough to think for themselves a lot of empty promises and lies, hot air and more hot air, while they continue to frustrate the youth without taking care of the unemployment problem.

Let us for once look at an issue without blinkers on. What ever your feeling on Peter Josie, there is no doubt that he is better abled in both administrative and political terms than the likes of Marcus,Guy Jopseph, Brucie Tucker, Guy Mayers. I really wish he runs as a LMP candidate.
How can we say to ourselves we are happy that Stepheson King is our Prime Minister with all his sort comings and a man like Peter Josie must remain in retirement.? Stupid Stupid stupid.

An elected Senate based on proportional representation would be a great deal better than what we have now. But, it is very, very, very sad indeed and an obscene waste, not to have past ministers like Jose in active politics as in our present Senate.

That is why such pappyshow representatives and complete nincompoops like Mayers, Joseph, Bruce Tucker, Marcus, and so on are strutting their stuff on a farcical stage called the House of Assembly.

Yeah, together with a PM with 'Ls' for his licence plates, being extensively manipulated by a drug baron trying to get a Tivoli Gardens and garrison constituency going full throttle in Castries, St. Lucia is in grave danger of being another Jamaica. Sinister forces are in control.

Already, Lucians have abandoned their culture and have adopted the Jamaican language. When you use a language of somebody else, you think like the natives who speak that language. It is little wonder that violence, criminality and drug use have gained such wide acceptance in St. Lucia and have replaced the good moral values in what was once a peace-loving and law-abiding country.

Many of us, like frogs in the proverbial boiling pan of hot water, have not even been able to become aware that we St. Lucians are slowing being 'cooked' by this Ali Baba gang of UWPs.

Dem LPM chaps need to be given a chance to turn around this country. It is not enough to want to vote for them. We must encourage others to read about what they want to do and discuss us it among those who are not aware.

Those of us who are aware, must go underground and grassroots with the message of hope and programmes of freedom on the LPM website, to get rid of and isolate us from the criminals who have been voted into high office in St. Lucia today.

The SLP seems to have lost its steam.

We are running out of time to save St. Lucia people.

The LPM is full of crap. Therold Prudent is just another example of a disgruntled flambeau looking for food. Labour has received their fare share too with Vaughn Lewis and Lourne Theophilus. Peter Josie on the other hand is a waste, the same who said "I wish death on the lifes of anybody of betrays labour" when his colleague crossed the floor, later on would do the same...go lie down in a corner ole head

You know a real example putting individual greed aside for national needs is Mr. Philip J Pierre. Pip made remarks about the current class structure that each and everyone of us thinks in private. He has become the sacrificial lamb although many people are now supporting him and ideally if a Minister without a constituency makes $100-$200 less than an elected MP, then why is Chastanet so desparate behind power.
He wanted to divide gros islet's boundaries but Spider denied and he now looking for soufriere to join his section. My soufriere people eat his money, take his jobs and if u into alcohol, drink his rum but dont vote them snobbish, racist ass, high class folks into office.
NO PM FOR CHASTANET

SLP is full of crap!!!!

I agree SLP is full of crap, but where would our youth be today if was not for the SLP who built enough schools both primary and secondary to accommodate all of them? We would still have the Mindoo P. park as our main sporting ground, we would never have international sporting events in St Lucia. We would still have that dirty hell hole not fit for human to work in as a prison. We would still have that dirty unsanitary place not fit for animals as our mental hospital. We would not have a new G. hospital being built. We would never have a two lane each way highway in St Lucia. The police and firemen would still be working in the old stations not fit for humans being. We would never have a modern car park. St Lucia was never cleaner in it history when SLP was in office through STEP. With all the crime St Lucia would never have a forensic lab if it was not for the SLP. etc, etc.

I say,we Lucians fed-up with some of the idiots like Kenny and PIP in the Labour Party, all the Croo---- and crimi------, drug bar---in the UWP, AND SO MORE MUST COME FORTH like the LPM so we can choose who the hell we want. We ain't aiming for no damn party no more. And that includes the likes of Peter Josie and Vaughn Lewis.Mark my word, St. Lucia will be on the way upward without those rascals and hooligans in the corridors of Government.
