Clearly Prudent has fallen in line with the thinking that the political leader of a Party is the PM-designate. That is not a good sign; it does not indicate CHANGE. What if someone else comes along who has more of what it takes to be PM than Prudent? Already, so early in the life of the LPM it is all about him. "If you make ME PM."That is very sad.

I agree. I believe Best will make a better PM than Prudent.

Lets gsive this new party a chance, they can be voted in or out if they don't measure up to the rhetoric. This country needs an injection of new ideas and a goverment that cares more about the people than their pockets. People are dying from silly illnesses there are too few specialists and too many poor people unable to get the care they need. The education systme is a joke, most students can't even string a sentence todgether, in fact many people are too interested in themselves to even listne to others so ignorance remains high here. Lets get real the country needs a real shake up.

It is to St.Lucia as the Tea Party is to the U.S.A. extreme right wing.
Prudent wanted to be St.Lucias' U.N. ambassador, which means, to replace the existing one for the job. Notice, it is always ME, ME, ME if not I'll show you; I'll start another Party, become P.M. and you'll do as I say. Some ego; where have we seen this before? Br. George went to his grave regretting not being P.M. Is there a lesson to be learned here? Time will tell.

A third party has to come really good to win over the requisite core support from the established parties. This is not the start I expected with half-baked ideas and proposals. I agree with blogger # 1Prudent should be focused less on himself and more on the change LPM will bring to the status quo. It's too early for Prudent to start talking about being PM.

Only those who were not present will dwell on Prudent asking for a chance to lead the country. This is very trivial. What's wrong with him wanting to become PM. Where are those who want to lead the country? Why don't they come out and show guts like Prudent?

Prudent has helped his cause 100%. He is a natural and has a gift and way with words. Not only has his popularity in the country risen this man knows how to captivate an audience. Any times you see St Lucians are showing interest and busy talking about someone this must be a positive sign.

FINALLY!!

"Remote Lucian-New York Party Launched"

Beam me down Scotty!!

What exactly was the turnout for the launch of this group ?

Having not heard a clear analysis of the turnout or level of entheusiasm I can only assume it was poor.

If it had been a good launch the LMP would have been shouting from the rooftops.

It was not a huge crowd by any standard. However, those who attended were not bussed in from other parts of the country to make up the numbers for sure. The 150 to 200 max crowd remained steady for the most of the two-hour period between the quarter to six start and the 8:15 PM finish.

There were many competing events for people to attend. LPM wanted to launch from the home of its leader it would seem. That was comforting to the leadership. The location may have robbed the LPM of a more diverse crowed with greater participation of people from many other parts of the country.

Yet, there are reports that people have been asking about their first campaign meeting. There have even been questions raised about the formation of an SLP-LPM coalition to ensure that St. Lucians see the end of their UWP tormentors.

St. Lucians have accepted so much mediocrity that it still seems strange that the two opposition parties should be considering that any cabinet member might at this stage be electable.

It is unfortunate that Mr. Prudent asked the crowd at Gros Islet to make him their representative and also their PM. One would have thought that this PM thing should have been brought out and left for a time when many more people would have joined his new party. Yet, the reality is that at present there may not be any contenders within the LPM today to challenge him on this matter.

The LPM party had a good turn out. Hats out to them for putting together a good presentation.

It started a bit slow. But as the night went on from my vantage view the crowd grew to about 500-600 max. I saw a lot of middle class people from cap estate and the surrounding areas etc. I think from what I am hearing on the ground, there could be an agreement between SLP and LPM to fight the election.

Anonymous said...

At no point was there any total exceeding 150 ppl at that event!!! Whoever said there were 500 to 600 ppl probably never attended the event or did attend but threw water on the farine ppl he met there.

Unfortunately this is not too good for the LPM if they were figuring to be a force in the next elections.

The fact that already you have those calling for a SLP and LPM coolition is proof that this is already a NDM /D'Auvergne construct aimed at making just enough noise so that the SLP can take the leader of the LPM seriously. Just as D'Auvergne did with the UWP.

There could well have been over three hundred, the police are better judges of this. Someone made a very significant point about the crowd. Those who came wanted to be there. Dem LPM fellas did not bring in anybody in buses to swell the numbers.

The entire programme was well put together with no breaks. The soca section fell flat. Some people even left during that show.

'Politicians playing the mas' was a smash.

The speeches were ok except the one that Mr. Franklyn gave. That one was quite long and was a bit boring even though he said some important things.

What I liked most was the statement that if St. Lucians keep on doing the same things over and over and expect a different result from what we have now, then they are mad people.

LPM has raised the bar already. There was absolutely no personal attacks only matters dealing with policy. One of the speakers asked St. Lucians to share and discuss the issues that are on the party's website lpmnow.org.

LPM is clearly about issues from what they put out there on Sunday. That is a very great difference.

Those persons who wish to chat and ask questions of the LPM can use the discussion page on lpmnow.org. It appears that www.luciantalk.com is under repairs.

It would be a blow if the LPM joined the SLP, mémé bête mémé poil.

Boy, I tell you if someone has somehow sniffed that Ausbert D'Auvergne is behind the so-called LPM, just as crooks come out with NDM, Mc. Hale Andrews, being a fairly decent fellow, when he smelt the NDM, bailed off in a great hurry, never to look back. It would be interesting to get Mc. Hales's point of view on why he baile out. Well boy, if Ausbert D'Auvergne is behind Prudent, remember PRUDENT was/is? a papa UWP, well Lucians "viex-lon en sac". We Luicans know for a fact D"Auvergne has absolutely no shame. And he will stoop to anything, for GOD knows what. By the way, have you heard the latest on his cousin languishing in the jail in the United States? And have you heard/seen the latest on D'Auvergne. Elections coming. KING and D'Auvergne plotting. Frederick, Mondesir and Bousquet ameliorating.ME BLAG. All of a sudden, St. Lucia in trouble.

Anonymous said...

PRUDENT and his members must tell the Nation whether he has any links with Ausbert D'Auvergne. Knowing what we know of D'Auvergne in St. Lucia, we Luciand want to know. Over to you, Prudent.Just be prudent.

Anonymous said...

Expediency will be Mr. Prudent's downfall. If ever he does that, he will put a big hole in his credibility. LPM is finished if he does. But I do not think that there is any link with Dove. Mr. Prudent must dispel any doubts about this even if that is just one of the usual nasty rumours we hear at election time.

People, LPM and SLP are two separate parties. However, if together they hold the majority of the seats on election night, a coalition can be expected.

St. Lucians do not have to fear coalitions. It is so common in Europe and now it has come home in the West Indies to TnT.

But if SLP gives up on Kenny as leader, it will win hands down. It is goodbye to LPM.

Ms Compton should make up her mind very fast to dump those people in the UWP. I can not understand why a smart person like her can have King as her leader. Something is not right here.

BTW what is Prudent's claim to fame? What mark has he made in St. Lucia? What is it about him that says he can lead me or my country.

I'm sick and tired of all these fellas forming parties because og grudges. Prudent must tell us why he left the UWP and LPM must tell us what change they will bring and HOW. That is all I want to know for the moment.

Anonymous said...

why dem SLP hacks hogging the blog like that. You all have your own blog, use it and leave this one for malaway. Stupes

Anonymous said...

What is the current PM's claim to fame again? He served Compton well.

Did you take time out to listen to what has been going on? Perhaps for the first time ever, a party has outlined in sophisticated detail is vision and programme without the need to distract with belly dancing and dancehall so-called music.

You have dismissed all of that as rubbish too?

Anonymous said...

Politics is a funny thing. LPM and SLP are perhaps in agreement on one thing and one thing alone. St. Lucia deserves a better bunch of people to lead it. They may be forced before or after the election to join forces in some type of coalition to get St. Lucia more decent government. Too much nonsense is going on. A minister not leaving a discussion when a matter closing affecting his personal welfare like tax concessions is being discussed. Another minister when discussing this idea to give another minister those tax concessions cannot remember correctly whether he was there or not. Yeah right!

LPM will have none of this, I am sure. Our best brains are overseas and the idiots here believe that we should accept their rubbish and continue keep our best brains offshore.

No sophistictation and NO detail.

I agree King has no claim to fame.

So tell me what is Prudent's claim to fame, apart from being a former disgruntled flambeau?

The previous Labour administration made alot of mistakes, particular when it came to financial mismanagement (not impropriety) and they paid the price in December 2006. However I have never ever seen such rogue men in one government like we have in st.lucia. From day 1 they choose Taiwan over China solely due to their suspected $1 million pay day. Then we find out one was an ex convict, then drug dealer, then tax evader, then increase in violent crimes, then wasted purchases such as Daher building and then concessions to an already wealthy businessman to the tone of millions, to loans with IMF, claiming it is cheap mauney however fully aware we would have to implement VAT...OH MY GOODNESS wow...i'm lost for words!

Enough these bias radio personalities. Flambeau has all of them on lock; juk bois, rick wayne, andre paul, timothy poleon, dave samuels. Its just ridiculous. We need more objective journalism here.

Anonymous said...

Man that is one thing for sure. The so-called journalists in St. Lucia hardly show any appearance of an independent backbone. They are not educated enough to handle any political issue beyond the personal level. Yet people swear by the likes of jukbois. Man if you have to rely on jukbois to come to form an opinion, you are just a hair's breadth away from being an idiot. The man is so full of hot air!

Poor St. Lucia. With our kind of journalists, our situation is very likely to get worse than better if we the people follow those misguided dumb-bells and numbskulls.

Say what ever you'll want. A lot of Saint Lucians like Prudent and his style. The man knows how to connect with people and this is most important.
