CSA, GNT Fail To Meet

The CSA called the strike action. Government unless in a weakened position does not have to call the next meeting.

Just call a limited state of emergency and set those who want to work on the job. Simple.

Any further contact should make it very clear that there will no changes to government's offer.

Legally, those who did not work are not entitled to any pay. Let the CSA pay the salaries of the striking workers.

Amen, above - that is why Unions collects dues; for times like these.

The CSA now has to pay the striking workers from the dues collected all those decades.

Way to go, government. Do not give in to the nonsensical demands of this Union!!

Or, pay give them what they are demanding, thereby inviting the IMF here. Undoubtedly the IMF will cut the Civil Service by half, sending those. Which is better, half a loaf or none at all.

Meanwhile, Kenny has to stop all those useless employment.

The ball is now in the CSA's court. I like the stand that the government is taking. They will not be bullied or held hostage by the CSA. Way to go.

That up to now the government has not fallen or collapsed is testimony to the bloated state of the civil service.

What this strike is definitely pointing out is this: where the excess capacity, where the overburdened public purse is really hemorrhaging, and where a colossal burdensome waste of this nation's scarce resources has laid hidden for such an unbelievably long time.

It is time to save on scarce resources. Cut out the waste of past administrations.

SLP grasp this opportunity with both hands to put this country on track to growth and efficiency.

The CSA is being childish now. Come on! The strike just shows that the civil service is too big. Of course those who are not showing up to work are in the departments that are the most inefficient. They (most of them) do a terrible job, yet they want more money. Personally I haven't missed them. It's just a shame that they still get paid while they are on strike. I understand why that is permissible though. Get off the high horse and let good sense prevail!!

I forgot there was a strike on.

This whole "no work no pay" stuff will come back and bite you'll (working in the private sector) in the backside when your employers latch onto the same chorus.

You'll are unionized just like us and one day, you'll will go on strike for something you believe you justly need. The employer, looking back at this situation, and say to you "no work no pay". I hope you do not ask GOVERNMENT to come to your rescue.

AMEN

If you take strike action as a first resort, refuse to bargain in good faith, and try to do so with impunity, there is a moral hazard.

It means that the government is opening the doors to abuse and recklessness. If you never intended to use the strike weapon as a last resort, then there was no good faith bargaining, in the first place.

If you are serious about your cause or the cause, you would be willing to make the necessary sacrifice which is the loss of pay.

We in Saint Lucia do not take things seriously enough.

We elect very stupid and ignorant people to government and to positions of power and authority.

The CSA has so far obviously trivialized the inconvenience being visited upon the population. There is a price for such blatant irresponsible callousness and carelessness.

If we as a country gain any lessons and any maturity from all this foolishness, it will a real blessing in disguise.

The grown little boys and girls in positions calling themselves leaders will have learned just a little bit about what it really means to take responsible charge of our own destiny and run our own affairs like a truly independent nation.

That comment up there is really a very truthful and hard-hitting comment.

SLP is so craven. Imaging paying people to strike. No where is in this harsh economic climate is financially responsible leadership paying people to inconvenience others and have the inconvenienced pay for being inconvenienced.

The strikers are being given full-blown latitude to call a strike any time they wish without suffering any losses. What a can of worms we are opening!

Oh my God! One just has to shake one's head in wonder at this spineless SLP leadership.

John Compton did not pay teachers for the last teachers strike. The traitorous union leadership behaviour was rewarded with a secure a comfortable job in tourism.

Surely, the money to pay the CSA strikers is not coming from the pockets of these craven so-called leaders.

all unionmembers should demand from the union to open their books.....

When only a few people in the society have any tolerance for anything that comes from a teaching source like a book, the probability of getting wise people to surface to the top in key leadership positions is both low and well-nigh impossible.

When it is considered that you can learn in just about TWO HOURS from the biography of someone, what it took him or her a lifetime to learn, we can plainly see why the current level idiocy pervades all corners of our society.

Saint Lucia is idiot country!

Meanwhile, it appears that the government may be trying to divest its interests in the derelict Daher building. Smart move. Good luck to the winning bidder, though. Ha! Critical times ahead, people. Stay informed.

From the Saint Lucian dictionary. (Copyright: 2008, 2011, 2012)

Money laundering (noun):

1. The buying of derelict and overpriced properties from party supporters who in turn, turn over part of the proceeds as campaign finance to the seller.

2. The practice of buying things of high value with the proceeds from the sale of narcotic drugs.

It's weird that this "dictionary" only refers to the buying/purchasing of such properties and not the sale thereof.

Anonymous said...

I take it that the first dictionary definition does cover "the sale thereof", because the definition does include the word "seller".

The publishing house should also include synonyms too. For example, under the first definition should be placed the word synonym, and next to that, "corruption". LOL!

Anonymous said...

I tend to choose my words carefully. A fleeting mention of the seller (as a passive object, not an active subject) does not suffice the "sale thereof".

Anonymous said...

What is wrong with these two dictionary compilers? Is somebody winding up someone here?

If I were in that writer's shoes, I would not rush to choose those words so carefully. Proceeds to my mind seems to suggest that the necessary legal documents in a property sale transaction have been transferred in some exchange of value for value in the realization of those proceeds.

Logically, if someone has bought something, then someone else must have sold that something. No?

Anonymous said...

This could easily be dismissed as an exercise in futility - since that dictionary is non-existent - but the exchange is instructive. I suppose making the seller the fully aware, active subject in the definitions given may indicate implications for said seller.

Demacque go and have a bath and a good scrub down, and come back.

u are nothing but a dame fabulious "fake"

OK. I get it. The most-often exchange that takes place in Saint Lucia does not involve much more than cash in exchange for food and clothing, or for rent and rarely for government paper. Family land remains largely unsold.

Mainly the wealthy under 50s as a significant demographic have been buying land and services as the non-politicians in our society. Drug trades demand no paperwork. Who can blame people for being so unsophisticated regarding the realties of legal markets?

Clearly the blogger above may be on an Adderall-induced tangent (how you like that innuendo and subterfuge?). It's as if you were asked your name, but instead lost focus and proceeded to give details of the street on which you live. What the what?!

Life ...
"Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no discipline to impose. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, and evil, can become a source of beauty, joy and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for the person who has the vision to recognize it as such."

This must be an April Fool's joke. To me what the blogger said is linked to something that was said much earlier.

Is KENNY ANTHONY the worst part of deceased JOHN COMPTON?

I hasten to add it appears that he is a hybrid of the worst of George Odlum and John Compton.

What a failure. Kenny Anthony is bringing down the entire country with him.

Vindictive bastard!

Blogger No. 1 seems to be advocating rulership in St. Lucia similar to that of the current state of affairs in SYRIA?

No way Hosea! That can NEVER happen in this Country of ours; where some FREEDOM reigns supreme.

Try your luck Blogger No. 1 with your henchmen Politicians and you will learn a very hard lesson you will never forget.

MASSA DAY DONE!

Kenny's time is coming, let him fool himself into believing that he's untouchable just because he has surrounded himself with the most elite.he should realize that all the leader s with his ideology are either in hiding disgraced,or dead. His plan is to live outside of st lucia and watch us suffer but god has a plan for him.

Whatever happened to KENNY ANTHONY's promise of ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS that he [Kenny] would pump in the St. Lucian economy; a promise he made with great confidence during the 2010 general elections?

Now he is hell-bent on circumventing the people of this country by putting the CCJ called the Caribbean Court of Justice through an agreement only by politicians in the House of Assembly rather than through a Referendum. The people of this country MUST VOTE to decide on this CCJ more aptly to be named, in my view as the CORRUPT CARIBBEAN JUSTICE.

And where will we as a people land, with the CORRUPT CARIBBEAN JUSTICE [CCJ] as it relates to the current Legal Suit against the people of St. Lucia who knew nothing of the SALE OF OUR SEABED FOR OIL EXPLORATION to one Jack Grenberg; who is now suing the people of St. Lucia via its Government [the Labour Party Government] for FIVE HUNDRED MILLION [UNITED STATES ] DOLLARS.

Mr. Grenberg was granted a licence to explore St. Lucia's seabed; signed by KENNY ANTHONY the Prime Minister of St. Lucia when the appropriate Law requires that the GOVERNOR GENERAL is the person named in the Law to approve such licences.

The talk is that no one in Kenny's Cabinet was aware of this licence to Grenberg.

The Country must demand that the KENNY ANTHONY RESIGN. This is the only way forward for our country.

FIVE HUNDRED MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS IS a disaster unleashed on us as a people; and we must pull together and demand that KENNY RESIGN.

WE must all stand behind the Civil Service Association in its strike.

Where is this country getting FIVE HUNDRED MILLION [US] DOLLARS TO PAY GRENBERG.

The Country will sink down the deep hole of DESPAIR. We are all following this matter; very, very closely.

What is the direct connection between Grenberg and the CSA?

What? They knew about the frigging deal but they are only now talking?
