I am a a labourite but Kenny and PIP have lost their minds. Show are you going to explain to people who are struggling that a 11 million dollar bridge is justified. My party have lost its ways!!!

15% of 8.7 million = 1.305, Total = 10.005 million and not 11.1. So what kind of voodoo math is this?

In the first place, why is the Government charging VAT on construction work?
Can they charge Tax on money they borrowed for construction?
Something smells.

When you hear Phillip Pierre speak about "full transparency". Look out!

The bull-shitter that Pierre is; this is just a smoke screen; because he knows; what he knows.

Interesting; with such Government "TRANSPARENCY" we observe that the contract; has been awarded to a COLOMBIAN COMPANY. Interesting days ahead. Early elections will be called. Colombian company eh? Phillip Pierre? You will soon get what you searching for. Tanto Tanto!.

Could it be that the VAT is placed on the materials to build the bridge? If the project is done right there should be a "bill of materials", every nail and drop of sand must be accounted for. No more overruns.

Blogger at November 2, 2013 at 6:22 PM, do you understand what a joint venture is? It was approved by WB who is putting up the money. Did you see this in the article,"Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd, of which Gajadhar is the CEO, is the lead partner in the bridge construction. "

The writer of this article has OVER INFLATED the tax calculated on the 8.7m.

Was VAT already implemented when the bonne terre bridge contract was awarded?

What I'm worried about is dealing with Colombians. The moment they begin to do business with St.Lucia government, look out.
You're just not sophisticated enough for these people who have given a lot of big countries, including the US, all kinds of headaches.
I will not say any more, but use your damn common sense next time.

You borrow money and you charge VAT Tax on the total?

Go! Mr. Monrose. Your position has been very well earned.

The fact is someone whether WB or otherwise; is laying a "BIG FAT TRAP"for someone to be caught inside; with their pants down.

Under cover agents? Um. Columbia and large Government Projects?

Very, very interesting. Big Money and TEMPTATION? Yeh right.

There will be a big exposure just before the elections,

In the past, Canada has always been generous in their aid program via CIDA. I think the World Bank should be the last resort to approach for a low budget loan of this kind.
It is also my opinion that $8 to $11 million E.C. is peanuts to ask the Canadian Government in a loan package, along with their technical support to facilitate the construction of what I consider to be a very small project.
Tell me if I'm right; the estimate is roughly about $6.million Canadian. This is a ridiculously low amount to ask the Federal Government to LEND us for this little job.

It boggles my mind why we should go out of our way to engage of all people, A COLUMBIAN Company to do work in St. Lucia. Not the British, not the Canadians, not the Trinidadians, but to show that we are so much a part of the Latino Cabal, we come up with that lot?
Who came up with that idea? YOU ARE PLAYING WITH FIRE.

$11.1 Million to rebuilding a bridge which is less that 500 feet long. Now come on Lucians, but don't you think this is just not right? Does this bridge have special features coming with it? Then we listen to these people in Government office say its cause of VAT, yea right. The government has control over who gets charged for VAT right? Then we wonder where is the money going or why the government is begging World Bank for money or other islands. Mr. Prime Minister and your cabinet, please read this post and tell me what COW-DUNK is this. We have people suffering in the streets, children without food, books or clothes to go to school, but we spend $11.1 Million on a bridge. Our economy isn't being destroyed it is being ABUSED! Then we wonder why people who travel overseas do not want to support this rubbish our government is doing or even want to come back to their "home".
