When you elect pure academics with no blasted business sense, no knowledge of management and come with absolutely nothing more than pushing paper as a career, that is what you get. They come highly credentialed, but are just idiots habitually making decisions about which they have not one flipping clue regarding outcomes.

Kenny saw the colour as being yellow. He mistook it for butter. In reality he was looking at shit.

Ronald,

I'm reading this excellent piece of information that sounds a distinct alarm, while thinking, “will any gluttonous politician take heed? USA has made no secret that it intends to put an end to the assistance offered to St. Lucia by the Generosity of the Chavez-Maduro Government, and their goal could soon be realized.

This overthrow of the Chavez legacy by the American and British banks, could happen within weeks. The reality is, no sitting government wants to be the one to enact the difficult economic measures to compensate for a loss of aid from Venezuela, which would certainly be used as artillery by the Opposition.

An excellent article planted on the barren soil of politicians.

The colour is yellow. But it aint't butter. It is stinking shit.

Son of Man, twice this week I find myself agreeing with you.
First was your stance on the Claudius debacle,
and secondly on this one Re: Chavez/Maduro economic melt down.

You're right, " which would certainly be used as artillery by the opposition."

It will be tough on all of the Eastern Caribbean Nations.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro says the US is meddling in the country’s internal affairs, adding that it is promoting ongoing protests by siding with protesters and opposition leaders.

In a communiqué on Friday, Maduro hit out at US President Barack Obama over his call for the release of prisoners in Venezuela, saying the US’s claims on the ongoing unrest is “gross interference” in internal affairs of the South American state.

The Latin American leader also demanded that the US explain its motives in “financing and defending” members of the opposition that promote violence against the country.

Maduro has repeatedly accused Washington of trying to regain dominance over the South American country. “There is an international campaign to justify a foreign intervention in Venezuela,” he said on Wednesday.

Earlier this week, Maduro ordered the expulsion of three American consular officials. Venezuela’s president accused the diplomats of meeting with student protest leaders under the guise of offering them visas to destabilize the country.

Washington, however, denied charges against its diplomats, saying the allegations that the US is helping to organize protesters in Venezuela is “baseless and false.”

Deadly protests kicked off in Venezuela last month over mostly economic issues. According to reports, at least six people have died in the unrest. The government blamed the western-backed opposition for the deaths while the opposition blames the security forces.

From a purely economic perspective, the political directorate in Saint Lucia does not appear to grasp the implications of the compact with Venezuela. Time and time again, we see an inordinate concern with the immediate issues rather than any insights into the eventual fall out. In the business world, those in our party to the deal have not done the due diligence. That is troubling.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. That is what they say. It has never been more true for this country.

We have had Frenwell, Black Bay, Grynberg and now this. How many unending financial blunders must this one country bear now and in the future, under a completely clueless Minister of Finance?

My sister, emailed a “Pray for Venezuela” video to me last week. Most of us when we behold demonstrations/people marching in the streets, Egypt, Libya, Ukraine, and Barbados, yes there too, we enter the matrix of “something-has-to-be-wrong”. We put on the sympathetic blinders, without knowing the history, becoming Robots controlled by C.I.A's false-flagged information.

In this case I remembered the attempted overthrow of the Democratically elected President Hugo Chavez by the USA Despot George Bush in 2002, and I replied to my sister saying, if the Democratically Elected Government of Maduro is toppled, St. Lucia is in for some serious problems, and we should pray for Venezuela. My sister is a good Christian and I used to be a Catholic by the used-to-be-Columbus Square.

So many of us heard of this so-called Martyr surrendering to be arrested last week? Who is this man Leopoldo Lopez?

.

What's his name, Lopez?

Who is this man Leopoldo Lopez leading the demonstrations to topple the Government of Venezuela who turned himself in for arrest last week? He was educated from Prep School through graduate school at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. USA. He’s being marketed as a Left-leaning politician, but in reality represents the traditional political Elite class that was displaced when the Bolivarian revolution came to power.

His mother formed the Party “Primero Justicia” by syphoning Venezuelan's Oil revenues and with the help from U.S. government institutions, to so-called civil society organizations. Why am I thinking Allen Chastanet??

Anyway, when our brother Hugo Chavez came into power the USA needed a Capsule to establish control over the Largest Oil deposits in the world, and this is the real Leopoldo Lopez, an instrument of the USA, along with others like María Corina Machado, and Antonio Ledezma.

President Maduro expelled a number of USA operatives a few days ago for fomenting destabilization in his country. The Nobel Peace Laureate Obama continues to infuse destabilization into the Country of Venezuela, spending even more money than the Regime of George Bush and Dick Cheney. This is the same Leopoldo Lopez - along with the CIA - who was one of the criminals who led the Coup to overthrow the democratically elected Government of Hugo Chavez in 2002.

So why all the street demonstrations?

After the disastrous showing in the December Elections, the Opposition decided to take to the Streets – Kenny should pay close attention to what is happening in Venezuela and make the necessary preparations for a similar situation materializing when Chastanet is defeated in the next Elections.

Leopoldo Lopez has decided, “Let's forget about the vote! We can't win this way. Demonstrations in the street is our only hope.” But even this acts of desperation does not look good for the Backers of Lopez and may very well backfire, prompting observers to question Lopez's action and the connection to the U.S. Embassy which controls the Opposition in Venezuela.

Since you are so familiar with the Road to Hell.

Give us an alternative route to Cap Estate?

Truth is many of the small islands as mentioned by Sanders, cannot afford to pay full-price for petroleum products at today's market prices. Even the war in Syria is about control of petroleum in the form of a Gas Pipeline.

So what's your suggestions to Lucians who think the Gas-guzzler is a fashionable vehicle on the road to Hell and a government with bandits like the Joseph Brothers?

Here's some information I came across on an African site - excuse the grammar, but learn the facts.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT LIBYA

Did you know this about Libya?

Some other facts (that mainstream media will never disclose) about "Gaddafi
and Libya:

- Loans to Libyan citizens are given with NO interest.

- Students would get paid the average salary for the profession they are studying for.

- If you are unable to get employment the state would pay the full salary as
if you were employed until you find employment.

- When you get married the couple gets an apartment or house for free from
the Government.

- You could go to college anywhere in the world. The state pays 2,500 euros
plus accommodation and car allowance.

- The cars are sold at factory cost.

- Libya does not owe money, (not a cent) to anyone. No creditors.
Free education and health care for all citizens.

- 25% of the population with a university degree.
-Libya has the highest literacy rate of any country in North Africa (82% of the population can read and write).
- No beggers on the streets and nobody is homeless (until the recent
bombing).

- Bread costs only $0.15 per loaf.

No wonder the US and other capitalist countries do not like Libya. Gaddafi
would not consent to taking loans from IMF or World Bank at high interest
rates. In other words Libya was INDEPENDENT! That is the real reason for the
war in Libya! He may be a dictator, but that is not the US problem. Also
Gaddafi called on all Oil producing countries NOT to accept payment for oil
in USD or Euros. He recommended that oil get paid for in GOLD and that
would have bankrupted just about every Western Country as most of them do
not have gold reserves to match the rate at which they print their useless
currencies
Libya is home to the world’s largest irrigation project called The Great Man-Made River (GMR). Conceived in the 1960’s and started in 1984, it brings water from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer (NSAS) to the coastal cities.

Remember the last time someone had the "NERVE" to make a similar statement
was when Saddam Hoosein advised all Opec countries not to accept payment for
oil in US Dollars. Well, we all know what happened to him . Yes, they HUNG
HIM
Congo and Nigeria are 70 times richer in mineral resources and man power than Libya, But very sad that imperialism indirectly control Sub Shara Africa are surval in absolute poverty 80% of Nigerians lived under 2$ a day when 20% who represent imperialist interest lived like gods in the middle of a sea of suffering people.
Congo is another sad story to black race, imperial Belgium and America played biggest role in assassination of Lumuba in 60s , They turn Congo to war nation CIA sponsor Congo war that claim 8 million Cogolese
Black men blood is nothing to devil colonial power, they feed their nation with Africa people blood, without Congo minerals resources mobile phone and computers can't produce.
Time for Black men to be wiser, your fucture is depende on your resistance to imperial greedyness... WAKE UP AFRICA..

Ronald:

Sometime ago while you were lamenting the loss of revenue due to Rum Prices, I suggested a change of perception; well, there it is:

Jamaica is to decriminalise ganja by year end as the government moves to capitalise on the booming marijuana trade internationally.

Science and Technology Minister Phillip Paulwell told the Cannabis Commercial and Medicinal Research Task Force (CCMRT) that ganja will be decriminalised this year.

Speaking with The Gleaner/ Power 106 News Centre this afternoon, the minister confirmed that ganja will be decriminalised this year in keeping with parliamentary approval.

Paulwell, late last year, had come out in full support of positive developments in ganja locally and internationally.

Paulwell had said “Jamaica will not be left behind” as interest and movements in ganja law reform and research and development grows rapidly.

In a release this afternoon, member of the CCMRT, Delano Seiveright, revealed that the CCMRT was preparing to launch the Ganja Future Growers and Producers Association next month.

The new group will, among other things, be mandated to represent the interests of stakeholders, primarily traditional ganja farmers, for a specified period. It will also lobby Government to establish regulations for the cultivation, agro processing and medicinal use of the herb and its by-products.

The ganja growers group is also expected to promote control, education and taxation for the regulated industry.

S-O-M - you make some good points in this article. I have long been advocating that the caribbean nations take advantage of the fertile soil gifted to them by mother nature. For years the USA has been telling the countries what they can and can't do all the time, yet now they are now making money off the back of it. shameful hypocrisy! As a Brit I have had to learn to adjust my previous unquestioning attitude towards the USA.

At the same time I do not think it wise to fall out unnecessarily with them because the alternatives (hard left latin america) will be even worse. Those countries have no free speech, freedom of association, lots of product shortages for the essentials. The caribbean nations need to be as independent as possible without being anyone's plaything - that includes being very critical of CARICOM and their agenda.

On a separate note, I just finished reading in the UK a book 'Compton/Odlum - Cesar/Brutus' and it was most illuminating. Two giants compared to the political non-entities you have today. It was very interesting to see what Odlum and Compton said about Kenny Anthony and Astaphan back in 2003. The lessons were there for lucians to see over a decade ago. If anyone has any other books I can read about St Lucia please let me know!
