Daylight robbery in St Lucia is becoming more preoccupying every single day - I recently read a similar story about a Yacht Master who was robbed in the same manner between Castries & Marigot Bay. Could it be the same team of criminals?
Whatever, something needs to be done. One can understand complaints that visitors to the island remain in their hotel complexes, and spend their dollars in foreign owned boutiques in the grounds, but who would dare go out & about in an island where such highway robbery occurs?
I hope that money from the forthcoming budget will be diverted to better policing as I am concerned that St Lucia is becoming a lawless land which holiday makers and foreign investors will shun.
More patrol officers on the roadways. You've got to get the crime spree under control before the tourists find out it's turning into a free-for-all like Jamaica.
Oh my God! This is really scary, but at the same time, this is absolutely disgusting and stupid. Our beautiful St Lucia is on a collision course with Armageddon. These thieves just cannot even comprehend the consequences of their violent actions and it's final repercussions. Deliberate annihilation by these acts of violence will become factual for St Lucia much sooner than later. The government must put into place agreat visibility of police officers everywhere to catch these criminals and make them pay for their crime and their sins. On the other hand, everyone seems to be very afraid of the police because some of them are very corrupt and most of them are not trained properly to handle this crisis that's been staring at St Lucia for a while now. As one who loves this country as I do and have lived elsewhere for a very long time, these acts of violence are more like anachronisms in my untainted memory of a once peaceful land and great people. St Lucia, listen and listen good to my advice and suggestion. You must all storm the offices of your member of parliament and demand a solution to be addressed yesterday. Perhaps with hope, prayers and a new infusion of honesty in everyone, education and most of all LOVE, St Lucia might be able to salvage and reclaim it's true self as "Helen of the west" and paradise. Without immediate and swift intervention by the government of St Lucia and it's most precious resources " the people" then it's all over. St Lucia can kiss tourism and other investments goodbye, as well as Expats returning home to contribute to this once magnificent society. I say, take the criminals outby any legal means necessary. Good luck and God bless Very concerned Expat
What a shame ! The reputation of the Island is ruined by criminals that does not care one way or the other how they affect lives or the Island. Too much of this violence will stop tourist from coming to the Island, thus affecting the Economy.
Government must increase the budget to have more police officers and better training to keep this situation under control.
