HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ..."Free up de square"..I like that..I remember when I used to be by the square every afternoon after school, loitering. I really used to harrass people no doubt so I understand the kids "doing pappyshow" by the square. lol. Now I think its worse though, those "pappyshow" driven kids and maybe danerous. Don't have any suggestions or solutions to the square issue, just wanted to write a comment because the statement "do a whole set of pappyshow in de place" was just to funny not to comment.
When civility returns to St. Lucia the Derek Walcott square and the botanical gardens can be a welcome respite for tired shoppers and visitors to the city.
If you are going to be harrassed by vagrants and unruly school children, and assailed by the stench of urine then you have to stay away from there.
We need these open spaces in the city. Where we can relax, take a kid for a walk, smell the roses, take a photo etc.
It is hoped that the Minister, the CCC, and a possible civic group (G.A.P.A) Gardens and parks Association, perhaps. They would raise funds for upkeep, maintenance, beautification, and monitoring of activities taking place there. I'll be willing to contribute.
the square should never be closed. the excuses given are insulting. There are laws which governs the conduct of citizens and there a police officers to uphold the laws. It is not only the responsibility of the ccc. the police have a role to play. there should be officers or ccc personnel monitoring the activities in the square twenty four hours a day. Why do we continue to allow our monda to be enslaved beats me

Are you kidding, when St.Lucians learn to respect themselves and their environment maybe!
