I applaud you, sir...no one could have said it better. Hence the reason I only listened to BBC news (would never ever listen to any news from a Lucian broadcasters).
the biggest and longest human right violation is the economic embargo against the cuban people. the likes of Andre paul must emancipate themselves from the mental enslavement.We are so selective in what we call abuse. According to George galloway one man terrorist is another man freedom fighter referring to the palestanians. We like to kiss ass in these parts too much and refuse to stand up for what is right. There is something called cause and effect. The problems are caused by the unjust embargo. Lift it and if the same continues then you Andre Paulhave case. Until that is done go to hell with this propaganda. Learn to think and analyse. We swallow too much gabbage whole sale in these parts
Cuba is one of us, just like the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica and Puerto Rico, all up in the North.

The writer of this article needs to get a life! Come off it dude! Criticizing Andre Paul for news reporting??? How about a swipe at Juk Bois who news reporting is his opinion only. The man refuses to read news about anything or anybody he has a vendetta against. Can you imagine Diane Sawyer of ABC fame refusing to read any news regarding Bin Laden?? Only in St Lucia will such garbage be tolerated.

On my last visit I also noticed the anti-Cuba bias in Mr Andre's reports. They were so crude as to suggest paid political statements.
We St.Lucians, both at home and abroad, deserve better.
Are the people of Cuba given the rigt and dignity to have freedom of speech and freedom to go to the polls to elect their leaders? That is to say free to choose who they wish to run their country? As long as I am free to take someone to the Courts who violate my rights, although I know full well that this world is not perfect, then I shall have no time to defend anything like what passes for a government in cuba. So I say, "go to france".Let freedom ring!

A well thought out measured response to a situation that in its self supports what other countries do by omission, St. Lucians should protest strongly about the bias shown by HTS, it is not a journalists role to spew out propaganda but to show a balanced view in there news broadcasts, simple to do if the person is educated on events in other parts of the world. Any person of substance would not just regurgitate. Well done Anthony.
I have nothing much to say about Cuba, because i do not know much about their system. All i can say is if Cuba was so bad and we in St Lucia are so good, them we should be helping Cuba and they should not be the one helping us case close. If Castro Cuba was so bad there would not be millions of Cubans at all Castro public rallies and speeches, i do not believe all these people i see on TV listening to Castro are forced to come to these Castro rallies.
I have one thing to say about Andre Paul, i heard him personally saying on the air waves, that our flower festivals like the LA ROSE etc is BORING, and everything is the same year after year. He spoke about how foolish the tradition dress is and they should take a que from the young ladies who dress at on creole day, to make it more appealing. I was so surprised and felt so offended to hear that coming from a person i respected so much. He made me feel like i was listening to some rogue on the street. This is our premier cultural festivals we have left for us and our visitor to enjoy. Even though Andre Paul personally do not like the festivals, he should not use the media which is so powerful to degrade our culture, he should have left his opinion to himself, or to discuss in private , not on the media . How will he encourage people to participate, particularly the youth if he describe our culture as BORING on the air. I know personally how a group of people from French Guyana who raise funds to prepare themselves to come to St Lucia every year to our LA ROSE festival, that is how they enjoy and appreciate our culture.
Seems only Andre Paul says things that rub people the wrong way. Riiiiiight. And Rick Wayne and Juk Bois do no such thing, right??? You people are such hypocrites. The offensive things those men have said over the air far outweigh the one or two things Andre has said. Furthermore, saying La Rose is boring is being against our culture?? As if it isnt true! It is Boring with a capital B.
Andre Paul is just simply being honest. Some people just have no real grasp of the difference between honesty and being outright biased.
Cuba's political, social and eocnomic system isn't perfect...but then neither is that of China, the US, the UK, India, France etc. Many countries that we glibly call "democracies" are in reality not so. Cuba may not be a "democracy" and its people may not be able to openly express their views; but Cuba's system ensures that the basic needs of Cubans are met. America's claim that it is a "democracy" is a laughable. To begin with any country that perceives it has the right to impose its "democratic ideals" on another country cannot claim to be democratic. Democracies don't steak elections as the Republicans did with the aid of the Courts in installing Bush in office in 2000.
What I understand Anthony to be saying is that Pauls' constant harping on Cuba's political system can leave an ill-informed listener with the impression that Cuba is the only country with such a system. The listener should also be informed that China has a similar political system as Cuba but that China enjoys diplomatic relations with the US while Cuba does not. The listener may want to know why this is so.
Henceforth, I shall stop buying your papers and commenting on your site, as you see fit to delete my blogs, which are not imflamatory IN ANY WAY.

We all know Rick Wayne and juke Bois does the same thing, but we all know these men have lost their credibility as political hacks and most honest do not give them any credence. So because they does it, that does not give give Andre paul the automatic right to copy cat them do it. At least we should have and deserve a creditable media house in St Lucia. Juke Bois was on Helen FM and he had to leave, so we need to put back some credibility in the station. Criticizing our culture on the media by one most people respect is certainly not the way to go.

We get all that FREE of charge, which we will never get in the USA or Canada at least not in the amount Cuba is giving us. Bravo, why did you wait years to write such an effective and informative article? I agree that the article needs to be addressed to Mr. Paul; unfortunately, Mr. Paul is not the only disseminator of news in St. Lucia that should be the recipient of this letter.
