What’s the plan for Culture?

I am in TOTAL agreement with you Carlton. The CDF is always crying that they have no $$$ to carry on with artistic endeavours, when they SIT on a gold mine, that they are not even aware of.

The "Gold MIne"?? ... scheduling workshops on every artistic genre there is, is one of the ways they can amass funds. St Lucia HAS enough resources for that. If the CDF holds a comprehensive database of most of the artisans on the island, they CAN employ same to offer comprehensive workshops, and get paid from those workshops. This might be easier said than done, but with proper planning and human investment, it can be achieved.

CDF is also in dire need of a MARKETING PLAN to get their butts off the bench to form a strategic plan to make them more viable and sustainable.

It is unfortunate that they operate as they do ... it seems almost without focus. It is also unfortunate that this is how St Lucian artists, entertainers and crafts people view the CDF - as empty, and non-sustaining.

CDF should be the body PUSHING for the arts in St Lucia - but, only the strong private associations and businesses do it for themselves.

As far as I see it - CDF is sitting on gold mine, and they do not know it. CDF CAN make the Foundation sustainable, but seem to lack the "know-how" ... *sigh* - what else can I say ... this is what I see. But, I do not know.
