After reading this article, I side wholeheartedly with the writer ... CUSTOMER SERVICE in most of the establishments on the island IS DORMANT, including the tourism industry.
Very few establishments mete out due customer relations to their patrons.
Sometimes, I do complain directly to management - sometimes, they themselves do not have a CLUE about customer service - and I am accorded some form of "justice" for their employees negligence.
I wonder if the employers/owners of these establishments are members of the Chamber of Commerce. There was a period when the Chamber gave seminars on customer service to business owners, managers, supervisors - where is that service now?? Our customer relations community is in dire need customer care education.
For now, when, and if, I ever have my own business, I will see to it that my staff are properly trained in customer courtesy and care - and woe betide them if they fail.
