What do you expect when both the UWP and the SLP ... you included .. lack the vision and foresight to be proactive to take measures to make the thousands of our school-leavers employable. Now you're bleating like a flipping sheep.

You guys had the power but lacked the intelligence to prepare the people you were governing. Today, sycophantic sheep on both sides of the political divide are bleating their respective lines. SLP bad, UWP better and vice versa.

Give us a flipping break! Your failures have seen the elevation of complete idiots as MPs. Entire generations have been dumbed down to accept mediocrity and complete jackasses, including felons as worthy of leading St. Lucia. See why we are in strong competition socially and economically with Haiti in the race to the bottom?

Yet you persist week after week in writing complete crap that does not in any way improve the situation. You are the modern day version of 'Guatel', the old man who used to frequent the public library scribbling reams of meaningless doodles all day. Education was wasted on you!

Why, absolutely, anonymous above!! At one point Peter Josie was in a position to effect change? Did he do anything worthy or worthwhile. No. As you rightfully point out, his actions or inactions thereof, are the results of what we have passing on as politicians in St Lucia now-a-days.

So, to you Josie, I say, "SHUT THE HELL UP"...

I agree but would not heap all the blame upon Josie's head.

We indeed are fighting to get to the bottom ahead of Haiti but aside from John Compton who has made any difference ?

The vaunted SLP academics led by a high faluting Prooofffesssor and endless lawyers saw murders climb from under 10 to over 40 annually and we borrowed over $100 million every year and our national debt climbed to almost $1.5 billion !

At the time when the world economy and in particular the economies that supplied us with tourists were booming we could only manage a 1% growth rate under Kenny. And we think he will be any better a 2nd time around when in the past 4 years he has contributed nothing to our development not even any new ideas.

The only Ministers that Kenny had in his Cabinet who performed were Mario and Sarah so he locked one out of leadership and got rid of the other from Cabinet.

Look at our academically trained leaders and what do we have ?
Lawyers - contibute nothing to development. Each is only looking to see how much they can gouge from St. Lucians and even work with drug barons to make money.

Our academics from UWI have nothing to contribute except their trite, failed liberal socialist mindsets that they have passed on to all UWI graduates.

So do not only blame Josie he is just one of a list of failures.

Compton? You must be joking! That man was perhaps the most short-sighted of all the politicians to walk in the House. That man took the country on a phony ride to so-called independence.

When the writing on the wall was there for all to see and read in the business journals, that man buried his head in the sand. His genius did not extend beyond bananas. He did not even make the slightest attempt to readjust the economy or prepare it for the collapse. He was just too blind and very comfortable in his denial. Laurent very comfortable in Europe kept on shooting the same old sh%&$#@# about improvement for banana production.

When the end came, Compton smartly dumped the failed banana economy like a hot potato into the lap of Dr. Lewis, and at the last moment. Then he and a whole host of semi-literates the bulk of the UWP, unceremoniously dumped Dr. Lewis in favour of that same person who before stupidly sold them the hogwash that the banana industry had a future.

The drug baron and the ex-con put an end to that load of hooey and today are in control of the most corrupt morally depraved regime in the whole Caribbean.

Josie is part of the failure as part of those who have laid the foundation for a young and growing population with only the skills and education to sell drugs. The result of this abject failure is giving us the doubtful distinction of having the highest murder rate per head of population in the entire region!

Where there is no vision, the people perish. Tell this to the blind followers of both the SLP and more so the UWP.

According to the most recent poll, St. Lucia is well on track to have a rendezvous with a lot of more pain and suffering. We can praise the incompetents all we can, but this will not help us escape the disaster of re-electing them into office.

The STEP Failure

People like Josie fail because like most of the politicians today they have been brainwashed by the liberal, progressive, socialist media and academic world and do not have a clue how to run a country. Everything that Kenny or Josie or whomever know about governance has failed but they keep doubleing down on the failure.

Already Kenny is talking and promoting that he is again going to borrow $3 to $5 million annually to continue the failed STEP program which was really a slush fund to keep the boyz on the block on the SLP’s payroll. All it did was promote laziness and was part of the reason for the escalation of crime and drugs in the urban areas as the young men got up in the morning to smoke the weed and wait for their government money at the end of the week.
Easy come, easy go and that is why they progressed to more and more freeness from drugs.

The STEP programme cost $30 to $50 million and all it did was promote mendicancy and increased St. Lucia’s national debt which now stands at $1.7 billion. So the blind people of St. Lucia again are already hearing about how they will have to bear the burden of debt to keep the SLP in power.

That is the trouble with socialists they do not stop until they run out of other people's money but by then their societies are bankrupt. See the incompetent Obama and weep.

The STEP programme betrays a profound lack of understanding of development economics and global competition, and characterizes the behaviour of one who can't see the forest for the trees.

If Kenny understood basic economic development he would have been able to equate his so-called 'free education' with the plaster that Fairty (Allan Bousquet) proudly repeated in building 30 schools as a major achievement. Confusion reigneth as quantity dominated quality and means replaced ends.

Yet like Bousquet's 'holding pen' and STEP's compensation for idleness with yet another 'holding pen', they just postpone the evil day, when the output will have to find genuine and rewarding work.

Alas! Neither of them do. Therefore, as the graduates of STEP find greater certainty of income in drug trafficking, they quickly turn to this more reliable source of income. As more and more young people turn to this source of income by entering an already crowded market, they are forced to fight over market-share, the limited market, and territory. The 'competition' is displayed in the formed of 'rubouts' and gang warfare.

Kenny and STEP then are failures and huge financial failures too! The snowball effect of those failures is the increasing murder rate among the young people who were still at school when Kenny was in government. Those drug ghettos formed under Kenny's watch! The chickens are coming home to roost. He had two terms of social failure, now he and the lazy SLP leadership are hellbent on giving us a third helping of the same failed policies?

You can be assured that he not only will refuse to change but he cannot change.

Another example.

On a number of occasions Kenny talked about "prime pumping" the St. Lucian economy. The idea was that the ripple effect of spending huge sums of money ( in the hundreds of millions) would result in increased economic activity as the dollars were spent over and over again by the consumer. This is called the multiplier effect and was one of the calling cards of the failed Kenny Anthony Administration.

The Obama Administration tried the same. They spent $1 trillion, told Americans that it would mean that unemployment would not go aabove 8% but it flew up to almost 10% and has hovered around 9.5% ever since.

To cut a long story short. In an economy like ours where there are so many leakages any dollar spent has 80 cents going straight out the port into chinese goods and nowadays the coffers of Digicel or Lime.

In other words when Kenny borrowed $100 million to $250 million every year it was gobbled up by external businesses and did not really stay in St. Lucia.
So every year he just came back and borrowed more and more.

What is the SLP's new answer for development in St. Lucia.
Just more borrowed money , more boyz on the block waiting for handouts inbetween the drug dealing and more money into the hands of the party financiers who get all the contracts pay for the election rum and chicken.

This is what we call development in St. Lucia.

There are people right here who have no education, never went to school ant therefore cannot get a job outside of the banana industry or subsistence farming. What do we do with these people? Do we employ them via STEP or LADDERS? Should we not be catering for all manners of mankind? In Trinidad they have CEPEP which is plagued with problems but the new government in all wisdon have decided not to disband it because of the social problems that may arise out of such an action. Here in this country we deride tha STEP people.

No, Peter Josie, go back with that. Where were you to write your articles when you saw that the ship of the bananas was sinking? Why did you not resign as a Director on the SLBGA Board or whatever name it was called and point the Public to what was going wrong? Why did you not call for a Commission of Inquiry and you would have had the best opportunity to testify and provide the Commission with all what you saw, heard and witnessed?
You bloody hypocrites. Were you there when it began to rumble? What did you do? Continued to collect your Director's fees at all cost? UUMH! Is this sour grapes or real love for country. Hypocrite! It is reckless, worthless politicians like you, who jump from pillar to post, that has St. Lucia upside down. To hell with you Peter Josie. I am not impressed with your trash .

The funny thing about te politics in St. Lucia is that, Stephenson King finds more favour with the majority of the people than Kenny Anthony? Yes indeed. That is the case. Kenny Anthony, lacks credibility, no one trust him, going back to his personal deceptive life. Stephenson King is known for allowing people to control him, because he does not know the forest from the trees. Me Roro.

Socialist 3rd world governance is filled with feel good policies which are really about buying off the people but contributing nothing to development.

When the SLP came to Parliament every year to present budgets they never explained how the money had been used the previous years.

Notice that the finance watchdog of Parliament never meets. Want to know why ?
Bdecause the Leader of the Opposition is the Chairman and the one think he does not want is any watchdog to look over his past expenditures while in government or the expenditures he might make in the future.

if they did they would find that he wasted hundreds of millions annually with sheer ineptitude and incompetence.

Remember how the SLP were to help the malaway. Well at the end of their two terms the malaway's quality of life was as bad then as it was 9 yeras previously.

I see there is a conspiracy to make Dr. Anthony look bad to cover up the mess this present UWP government has taken us in St Lucia. Dr Anthony is not prefect as every government all over the world. The fact is he was voted out of office because of his mistakes. Now we voted another government for the BETTER, they were not supposed to repeat the mistakes of Dr. Anthony, we were expecting them to surpass Dr. Anthony in terms of developing the country, St Lucia was supposed to be better off with them in office than when Dr. anthony was in office. They promised us all that and more. We believed and trusted them.

Now they are in office almost to the end of their term, they are not competent enough to deliver anything, all they do is to come up with excuses like the recession, Tomas, etc. Their agents are busy writing on this board about Dr. Anthony faults. The one thing they tend to mention most is about the handling of the country finances. Let look at the facts of the matter. Dr. Anthony made some mistakes, BUT we can go around St Lucia with a blind man and a blind woman and they would point out MANY BIG PROJECTS all over the country undertaken by Dr. Anthony with our finances.

They tend to turn a blind eye on the present government who have borrowed just as much or even more money than Dr. Anthony. If normal people go around St Lucia, all they would see is a few substandard asphalt/ concrete courts and a few foot paths built by the Taiwanese. What has the so called government done with all the money they have borrowed. That is what we call mismanagement. That is why they are so busy trying to make people remember Dr. Anthony mistakes, so that they could be voted back in office, That will not work, Dr. Anthony will be voted back into office as soon as they call election.

Anonymous said...

Yes. Indeed. But the same shit is about to be repeated not once, or twice as happened before, but for a third time. Tell Dr. Anthony spare us his sixth-form knowledge of 'prime pumping' and the operations of the multiplier. His egregious financial blunders all confirm that his one course in economics, 'Introduction to Economics' does not make him an economics. His spending disasters prove that he would not even last if he were to put up a tray to sell by the market. This man has absolutely no financial or money sense at all! The swindlers huffed $45 million ... $45 million-wee and he enn even know how it happened. Yet, he makes himself minister of finance. Lucians get serious for once!

Anonymous said...

You can blow your compressor till you drop dead, the people of St Lucia love Dr. Anthony, they will return him in officer as soon as election is called because with all his wastage. No media will fool them this time. St Lucia was much better when he was in office than the incompetence we now have in office. That is the fact of the matter.

Anonymous said...

Some people tend to keep mentioning $45 million dollars, we have been hearing that being repeated for over a decade now. Do you really believe that this still has an impact on the electorate, in-terms of not not for Dr. Anthony? The one tract people who would have never vote SLP in the first place, will not vote for Dr. Anthony. If we want to question, we must questioned where has all the millions UWP have borrowed so far has gone to, because there is nothing of substance happening in St Lucia. Look now they are about to borrow nearly 1/2 a BILLION DOLLARS to build an airport terminal.

At Least Dr Anthony studied introduction to economics, but what did King study?

Anonymous said...

OK. It is alright for a poor country to have a minister of finance who know very little about economic management of a billion dollar economy?

Anonymous said...

I agree he bearly has a high school education, not fit to lead a boy scout troop. St Lucia is now the laughing stock on the Caribbean. King is so childish he went up to Obama with a piece of paper for an autograph.

Anonymous said...

The difference is that King might go to Obama with a piece of paper to sign but Kenny will go and lecture Obama about developmental economics and how to "prime pump" an economy!

The blind leading the blind into "de river" !
