Oh,that is so reflective of the total personality of it parliamentary representative. It stinks! It is rotten to the core! What goes around comes around.

Disgusting nastiness!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me want to puke!!!!!!!

That minister is as loathsome as the nastiness he has created. Castries is a drug enclave and a ghetto. When you get scum-sucking pigs voting scumbags and maggots like themselves into office you get disgusting scum, sleaze and slime balls.

Politicking? Really? Its ashame the level of nastiness reflected by our people to continue throwing garbage in a bin which is full but you guys or guy politicing. The minister have to teach manners and cleanliness? Thats a reflection of our culture in general. We are drowing in a false sense of well being when all is not well at all. Come on now. Are you telling me that all the persons throwing garbage adding to this pile never thought that it is only making the situation worst?

When you are pig you treat everywhere like a pigsty. No? When do expect to change the pigs from Castries into human beings when they elected another pig to lead them?

The picture tells the story. The truth is, the system of garbage collection needs tweaking. The city agency is establishing parks and recreation areas without ensuring timely and consistent garbage collection around the city. The fact that individuals continue to pile garbage in the designated areas indicates an adherence to cleanliness and order, however the system is failing them.

we all saw the devastation caused by hurricane tomas; due to indiscriminately throwing rubbish here, there and every where. one would have thought after devastation of this hurricane, st lucians would have be careful in disposing and throwing rubbish, especially empty bottles of sorts and sizes. alas, this is not the case!!

castries is a nasty, dirty, smelly, filthy city. rodents, stray dogs, faeces, pee is the norm.

Nice, we wait on the government for everything...even to clean up the mess we make. why can't we realize that "We" not the government is responsible for the filthiness of our city? We the citizenry have to shape up and learn to dispose of our garbage properly. The government is not responsible for the littering of our streets, we are!

On second thought, is this picture that tells a thousand stories, really of St.Lucia? There seem to be an inordinate number of hot beverage containers such as coffee cups from starbucks in the garbage. The passersby seem to be clad for a winters day and the lamp-post also seem out-of-place. Enlighten us Mr. Voice Editor! Is this an attempt to sanitize the actual St. Lucian experience? If it is , therefore, my comments of order and cleanliness is wrong, and sadly, the other bloggers' comments are right!

Why the hell do citizens pay taxes and fees etc, etc. Do citizens ever CONTROL garbage collection frequency, or the size of containers, of the number of motorized or other units to collect and dump the garbage.

What the heck! Incompetents and jackasses are in control, that why the sidewalks look and stinks like the minister's face.

(1) This is NOT Castries!!

(2) The picture however, does reflect ST LUCIA's culture of not cleaning up after ourselves.

(3) The politicians (regardless of colour) are NOT to be blamed. Only ourselves for being desensitised about garbage.

(4) It is HIGH TIME St Lucians be made aware of how nasty we are about garbage, and the problems it can cause.

(5) Some of the bloggers comments here wreak of the stench of ignorance and "not me" attitude.

(6) We are in it - it is for US to fix it! Keep your garbage in your handbags, your pockets, your vehicles. Take it home with you to discard at home!!

How many times, I have handed people back their own garbage (including children) which they have indiscriminately strewn on the very ground they walk on. They accept it with embarrassment!!

Why on earth would anyone wear a winter coat and gloves in tropical St.Lucia?

The absence of Heineken and Piton bottles in this picture makes is questionable.

Since when do we drink so much coffee on the go?

Added to the two comments above, we have no street lights as pictured in this article.

do we have Starbucks in St Lucia. Anyone?

Not only we do not have Starbucks in St Lucia, WE DO NOT HAVE THE FOLLOWING COFFEE SHOPS IN ST LUCIA:

1. Stage Coach Coffee
2. Coffee Planet
3. Two Cups
4. Seven Brothers
5. Coffee Beans

The empty cups of all the above named shops are in this bin/mess. Like a blogger said, NOT one piton or beer bottle. And, on another point, since when our empty plastic cups become so fancy?

In the US you get all and hundreds, if not thousands, more of the coffee shops I saw pictures of in this bin/mess.

Yes, Castries is dirty and smelly, but this mess is certainly not from Castries. This mess is piled in one place, in Castries it would have been all over town!!

Which political party would benefit the most by portraying Castries as a dirty, smelly, filthy city?

Obviously, the party with the most members living abroad. Just an observation.

Which lying party would utter a tissue of lies to the people telling them that the streets of Castries are paved in gold, and the PM of St. Lucia has been made head of the OECS because the other leaders think that he is the most worthy and smartest person to lead this political group of nations?

All the liars that make up the UWP of course!

There we go again...the blame game....When will we take responsibility for our actions? Our children, taxi drivers, mini bus drivers, ourselves-we are the ones littering and expect others to clean up after us.
This is a shame and if we don't clean up our act we will find that governments will come and go and we will be left wallowing in filth.
We need to change our attitudes and think of our health and leaving a clean country for those that will come after us.
