true cause in 1997 they recorded 199... votes in total so by now the pop. should have grown to 250...
thats just my idea.
Are St. Lucians abroad coming in to vote this time? If not, they may have to choose between Haiti and Guyana for retirement.

Lucians can really talk bilge. No wonder their wonderboys are people like King. Deh en know the @#&%$( from their elbows. All of dem getting minister salary and doh know a fart.
Every one ought to come out and vote those good for nothing miss leaders. We have lots of people who follow uwp and it's not that they have done well but am beginging to wonder just like some women, in that the more their men abuse them is the more they complain and still love them, Hope this is not the case for my fellow St Lucians but they will get up and realized their childrens future and stop following party but to do what is right and just for their country.
The St. Lucia Labour Party made a huge political mistake when they let Kenny run again as political leader and kept Mario out of the leadership position.
They lost their soul when the leadership of that party attacked Sarah Flood Beaubrun and alienated with her the very value system we needed to keep St. Lucia on the right path. Had you both Sarah and Mario running you would have won in a landslide. Actually in alienating Sarah you lost the best hope for St. Lucia to get out of the present mess. Courageous, principled and a worker.
Imagine you have allowed yourselves 5 more years in the wilderness because the like of Skeete,claudius, Leo Clarke, Walcott, the crazy lawyer from Cap, etc wanted to keep their links with Kenny and the chance to make a monee.
Kenny has brought you to your knees.
The only hope the SLP have is that they lose 9 -8 and not 10-7 or 12-5.
Set your sights on 2016.

Can someone please tell me how the hell we can account for 151,734 registered voters out of a population of 170,000?
No one under 18 is on that list; plus many, many people just don't participate in the political process. So again, where did such a high number of registered voters come form?
In my opinion, the population would have to be somewhere around 250,000 to register such a high number of voters.

You made some very telling observations in proffering a reason for a potential loss for the SLP in the upcoming polls. Kenny's hangers-on, and the old guard of the party significantly underestimated the manner in which the populace repudiated the leadership and abhorred the attitude of "Bring-It-On"-Menissa, "Take-Me-To-Court"-Kenny, and the arrogance and hubris of others in the SLP government and party of the in the last elections.
A very serious miscalculation on Kenny's part was to give the impression to the significant number of unaligned voters in St. Lucia that he should be party leader in direct contravention of the party constitution, thus giving rise to Mario's hurried exit from the party and the country's political scene.
However, I am not sure that the manner in which Sara Flood was entirely the fault of the party or Kenny for that matter. Sara should have known that if she had an issue with the party's stance on abortion she should hve discussed it in confidence with the party and it's leadership and all concerned should find a tactful, way to amicably resolve the issue without such acrimony. Perhaps the party shouls have left this hot-button issue alone or Sara should have abstained from voting on the legislation (with party approval).
On the question of leadership Kenny took too long to call the last elections which allowed the UWP sufficient time to regroup and he also goaded the UWP saying how he would give them time because he wanted to be fair to them or something to this effect.
I too have serious reservations about an SLP victory and I feel very queasy about a UWP victory but a week in politics is a long time.
In the end the country will get the government it deserves.
PS. Putting Lorne on the SLP ticket was a very bad move on the part of the SLP they would have stood out as the party with the moral authority to run the affairs of the country but that claim is nullified by that desperate move. Good luck St. Lucia.
The issue about Sarah Flood and the abortion law that she opposed.
LuciaBoy at least put forth a sensible answer insted of the hackisn on so many St. Lucia blogs but let us get the facts on the abortion issue.
A) Kenny and Petrus Compton tried to hide the passing of the law. Persons found after looking through the poorly structured 1,000 page law legislation that the SLP was effectively going to allow abortion. There was no attempt or intention to dialogue with the people of St. Lucia and for such a fundamental issue there is even the point that a vote by the electorate was necessary. Either as a major issue in a general election or referendum.
Sarah tried to get the public discussion through dialogue with her colleagues but Kenny and Petrus shut it down in an arrogant and high handed manner and went ahead without St. Lucians involved.
It then became so dictatorial that Cabinet (surprisingly including Mario) refused to bring up the issue for discussion to allow sarah flood Beaubrun say anything. It was made plain to her "Shut up, we are going to pass this monstrosity anyway , we do not care a damn what you have to say".
I think even part of the ruse was done while she was away on maternity leave.
Remember this was the same Kenny and Phillip Pierre who prior to that had surreptiously and behind the back of Sarah and other Cabinet members put through the multi million dollar Rochamel and Grynsberg deals. That in itself is part of the issue noboby has discussed.
So Kenny and the SLP are paying for alienating one of the most trusted persons on the political scene and someone who at this point could have given them the edge to take on the yellow machine.
