St. Lucians are intelligent people and we do think critically. Our problem, in my opinion is that we do not have respect for other people's opinions. We are stuck along party lines. If we support different parties then it doesn't matter that I may have a valid point,the other person will not acknowledge that simply becasue we support different political parties. It starts with respect and we have a long way to get there.

1. Look at the number of comments in response to this article. Now look elsewhere on the Voice website. Take a look at what people are commenting on and check out the comments.

2. An inability to appreciate and 'respect' the opinions of others in the context of our modern world is not very intelligent.

3. A more mature political culture has to be cultivated. In the mean time politicians are playing to our ignorane.
