The writer of this article has said it right. St. Lucians, especially gros-islet people are not for sale. Talk is rife that Spider had dollars on the ground dishing out before the elections. Hundred dollar bills going out in t-shirts. There was food and drinks stocked up for celebration. Well we see what it brought, the electorate was not impressed with chicken and rum.
Sir, the comments by the OAS Election Observer team could have applied to any election in Saint Lucia over the past 20 years, at least. You had to have been around in 1997 to see the level of spending by both parties with funding from both Mainland China and Taiwan. And 2006 was no different. It's sad that this is the nature of Caribbean politics these days but I don't see it ever changing
