You complain about the vendors jacking up prices on necklaces but I here no word on the price of a piton at the posh hotels... Lets see, the most expensive of the hotels in the north sell a piton for up to 12 dollars, now the standard price to a rum shop is 3 dollars... so they mark it up four times.. The tourists don't mind and I here nothing from you about this... the vendors mark a necklace up from 5 dollars to twenty and you shout ... eh eh.. is there not a tinge of racism in this... what is good for the white hotel owners is good for the local..

Like many other St. Lucians I am of the opinion that the the island Tourist Industry is "superficial". We continue to put the "cart before the horse" and in the near future we will pay dearly fot that mistake. Not just that but we are spending money like it's growing on trees with little or no returns. The Management has made several mistakes and is hopping on another catastrophe.
Begining today, the Tourism's Call Center has been moved to St. Lucia. That is all calls made to the "800" telephone number from all over the world to the Tourist Industry will be answered in St. Lucia...are we ready for that! We are taking our prime representatives away from the major customer service end and handing it to inexperienced St. Lucians.
Innovative...but in the end we will pay the price!
