It is with pleasure I read and welcome the call to all politicians and other responsible people in society to wake up.
We need more action to address the declining situation, substandard education, low productivity, a great divide between the rich and poor, abuse of power by politicians, employers and those in positions.
For too long many have sat and just hope, it is right that the chamber's president should stand up above the crowd and request the government and opposition to be visionary Leaders, transparent in their actions and innovative in they policies they advocate in addressing the problems of the country before it is to late.

What a breath of fresh air from Mr. Hinkson. Why don't Political leaders and people get it? We are busy at each others throats. We must stop blaming the youth for our failures. We find ourselves in this situation because we failed in our responsibilities. Every single one of us must reflect and decide where we want to take this country

WERE YOU THERE? WHERE WERE YOU BEFORE? THE HORSE HAS ALREADY BOLTED FROM THE STABLE. IT IS NOW IMPACTING ON YOUR DOORSTEPS. MUCH, MUCH, TOO LATE. YOU WERE EXACTLY PART OF THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Not impressed. You were a large part of the problem. Kept your snout shut, when exigencies demanded persons like you in key positions, take a stand. Too late shall be the cry Queek Quak. Now? Why now. Clean the management mess, Mr. Government Minister from WASCO. It STINKS!

In the St. Lucia Cabinet of Ministers that passes for Government and the current St. Lucia Civil Service, the standard operating practise is, " The Blind Is Leading The Blind-folded". Therefore, they are all falling in the ditch.

If you take a pig, put lipstick on its snout, and call it Lucille, it is still a pig. Queek Quak.

Mr Hinkson I applaud you for such an inspiring speech. You have addressed all the ills plagueing our society today, from the root causes to the effects. Government as we all know MUST set the platform for economic growth and development in any country. President Barack Obama in his State of the Union address made a clarion call for countries to begin tapping into the imagination and creativity of their people!!!. I agree with Mr hinkson 100% that AT THIS NEXT BUDGET ENSURE THAT A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF FUNDING IS ALLOCATED TO EDUCATION!!!!. This is the only way we will be able to compete internationally.Education is our opportunity for advancement into a world class economy!!!.

Anonymous #4 is definitely caught sleeping, not only sleeping, but out of step and outdated in his/her thinking. Not to mention lack of expression - exactly what the current Chamber President is lamenting about.

What more can I add to the comments, but to sanction all the comments made.

I strongly agree that St Lucia's education standard needs to be raised to a much, much, much higher level. Our lack of educational standard rears its ugly head just about everywhere I go, what I read [painfully], and vocal interactions with service providers across a wide board in St Lucia.

A lot of St Lucians now show a lack of national pride, speak badly, and have little social skills.

NOW is the time to stop casting political stones, and buck up - it not too late, as some of the "nay sayers" suggest.

strong words that would fall on deaf ears.

The, get is chamber president is late on the ball...where has he been all along...

It's only because there feeling the pinch in the pocket book...that there raising the profile now....

He should be pressing King and company to get it right, get it done, or leave...but then its to late...election is soon..and the economy is in reverse.

He should be refuting Allan's stats, that are false and equal to voodoo economics...there's no growth in the economy and the tourist product.

Where is it reflected in the economy? Only in AllANS' FEEBLE MIND, and the untrained PM.

Marchand is the safest place. I agree with you. They are just too late with the platitudes. Where were they years ago when this mess was building into its crescendo? Now its affecting their pocket-books, heaps of bad debt mounting at their bank, so they want to speak now. Hold your tongue, it is too late. You must always put the people first, before you put party first or your bank first. If the people are taken cared of, all other things will fall in place. You all continue to learn the hardest way.

Indeed, now that their pockets and their bank accounts are being affected, they are all up in arms.

Why didn't the chamber's president, before, cried out about the corruption in the UWP government? Why didn't he cried out about having a convicted criminal as a government minister, a drug baron, someone who sold his patient's medical records for money...why didn't he cried out for accountability when a million dollars each were given to UWP ministers? Why? Why? Why? Why didn't you, Chambers president? You and your likes were in a unique position to effect change. Did you do anything, then?

Now that you pockets are being affected, you're crying out wolves. Well sir, the train has left the station, ain't no stopping it - not even you!!

The problem is that some of them are on the same train as the thugs and did not realize that. There were so many social issues which these guys could have spoken about and they did not. And even now, they are not speaking with specifics. They are still being vague.

The roosters have come home to roost. And guess what? They have to eat the roosters like everybody else. They thought they were insulated.

The first step to resolving the social issues is to ask all these guys to stop wearing ties and return to shirt jacks and shirt jack suits or congress. This would save the country huge amounts in foreign exchange.

Remove the shame and the mess of the TWO top management officers at WASCO. This must be done. Long, long overdue. Ask the WASCO workers. These two idiots at the helm at WASCO are a dying breed and an outright shame. They themselves know that. Who's handling the FINANCES, the worst of the two. Clean them out and fast.
