Put simply, KING IS A BIG JOKE!!! It is obvious that the UWP does not know what to do about crime. St. Lucians especially UWP supporters are echoing one phrase--Nothing can be done about crime. FOOLISH, I say. To those pessimist, I ask will you go to a doctor with an simple ailment and expect to hear I don't know what to do about your sickness? Well, St. Lucians we have expert in the areas of crime and other related issues who are trained to do their job well but are they considered by this government? NO! Rick Wayne the UWP major advisor puts his twist on it as a crime expert and blames it all on the community--Lord this is where we have come--PATHETIC!

We have crime experts right here in St. Lucia and they are simply ignored by this government. Think for yourselves St. Lucians, can the uwp stand as a party of competent leaders? Take a page from Bush reign--he surrounded himself with the best minds because he accepted and understood his weaknesses. The UWP needs to take a page from that strategy.

I remember that sometime last year Russel and Tim had a program with a crime expert who is also a psychologist, I think her name was Dr. Julietta Raymond. Why can't this government use the expertise of this person. I did my research and found out that she recently moved to St. Lucia. The Minister for National Security, Minister for Social Transformation and others should seek the expertise of Dr. Raymond and other experts NOW!

To address many of these issues, the LPM maintains that an integrated approach with short- and medium- to long-term plans on three tracks is critical for success: prevention, prosecution, and protection.

Prime Minister King and his government should stop hoodwinking and deceiving the people with empty Six-point presentations and meaningless calls for joint parliamentary sessions and instead use the country’s financial resources to create jobs and improve the quality of life and living conditions of the unemployed youth of this country in a way that would give them hope and optimism for the future.

You go!!! LPM....show them how it should be done...

PM's six point plan:

- talk
- do nothing after
- wait for a killing to happen
- talk again
- do nothing again
- wait for a killing to happen again

How can Stephenson King speaks about crime stopping when there are LIVING, BREATHING, IN THE FLESH criminalS in his cabinet?

You could start, Mr Prime Minister, by showing the public, you are taking out those "animal" toxins from your cabinet. How about that for a start? Your so called six point plan is a mar-jee and nothing short of being useless - just talk. Did I hear election is around the corner? Sans honte!!

Prime Minister King; take note.

The above bloggers are an indictment of your government as being complicit in this whole crime business. TAKE HEED.

Anonymous said...

Yeah right!! King, after every killing you come oh TV or radio to bleat.

No one takes you seriously, infact, you are some useless excuse for being Prime Minister. Your own ministers do not have any respect for you, how on earth you expect the public to have respect and confidence in you and or what you say?

When you start bleating, is your bleating being implemented and followed by actions?

When you assumed office some 4+ years ago, where were you 6 point non-sense plan? From the onset you should have exhibited leadership traits.

I am sorry for you (pathetic) and for St Lucia in general.

King, do the right thing (for once), call elections - NOW!

The Prime Minister have to stop reading from these prepared speeches. Let him say something from his heart for once. Moreover, he ought to know by now that more police hardware and more police officers will not solve the crime situation on the island. He spoke about criminal elements creeping into the minds of the youth... well what do we expect when our so called leaders bash and malign each other simply to get into power. Our youth actually learned what they now do from those who wield power in society....anyone who displeases us, get them out of the way. I daresay, society created the monsters and now they are reaping the harvests of their creation. How so You might say; but they have not killed anyone! Is it better to malign a man and threaten his very existence than to shoot him in cold blood? I daresay we are surrounded by liars, thieves and murderers wearing neckties and stiffly laundered shirts and trousers. How much better are they than the young men who shoot each other like dogs on the streets? No matter how many young men are killed by Police or each other more will rise to continue where their peers left off. Our justice system is based on revenge, lies and corruption. Our political system reeks of more corruption. Our leader himself is being lead and has no wisdom to lead. He lacks leadership qualities, he has no gumption and he surely does not speak for himself neither does he represent the nation. Everything he says on TV or radio broadcasts smells of what "the party" wants him to say. So all the flowery speeches is nothing more than a big bucket of hogwash! Lots of beautiful words with no substance and they surely do not bring any measure of hope to us Saint Lucians.

It was Martin Luther King Jr. who said, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

In this time of controversy and great discomfort,Prime Minister Stephenson King has shown this nation that he does not have the balls, the sinew or the brawn to face this challenge called crime. It does not take a brain scientist to observe that those written speeches that he reads from are simply "mere talk." If this is his strategy to pacify the nation, then he has lost points there. Nobody believes his load of crap anymore. More hardware and more police? Someone once said that Saint Lucia was a Police State and I am beginning to understand why. This government is too fixated on arming police rather than protecting the people. Is the Prime Minister even listening to the people? he does not even know why the crime situation has escalated...has he even tried to find out the reasons? How could you find a remedy for a malady that you have not yet even diagnosed? His six point strategy will only aggravate the situation. Does he think that alienating the people and making his Police Force stronger will solve the crime situation here. What he is doing is simply detrimental to the people. Maybe his gray matter has gone all wrinkly now and he can no longer think straight. PM King is now trying to use Reagan tactics on us. As for getting help from Israel, why should he seek assistance from a nation that continuously oppresses another? What Intelligence is he talking about? There are cops on the Force well qualified and capable to do intelligence work, but they are stationed in the wrong departments. These guys get crucified with the idiots among them who cannot tell a bee from a bull's foot. Besides, the best type of intelligence plan is for the cops to start building community relationships. If their hostility towards the people persists, if they continue to be as a law unto themselves or they continue to act as if they are above the law, Intelligence from Timbuktu won't help them deal with this crime situation. We do not want Police acting as if they are at the OK Corral and shooting down suspects in the streets or at their homes and justify their actions by saying they found guns. No matter how scared people are of criminals they will eventually be more afraid of Police and that will only create more animosity between the lawmen and the citizenry. Haven't they noticed that as yet? A law abiding nation ought not to exclude law enforcement. Tell King to get a life and get the hell out if he cannot lead this country. We are tired of his idiocy! More Police hardware? Give me a break.

Agents of Change, the time for action is now!
1. Saint Lucians want a government that will cut the deficit, streamline current expenditure, and cut wasteful compulsive spending.
2. Saint Lucians need a government that will adjust to the same budget realities that families face on a daily basis -- a government that is result oriented, is business savvy, efficient and productive that would befit a country realistically facing the extremely competitive globalized twenty-first century economy.
3. Saint Lucians need a government that will provide personal safety and security, and implement effective and meaningful solutions to address escalating crime, and uphold the rule of law.
4. Saint Lucians want a government that will invest in the future in such areas as: innovation; science and technology; skills training; and research and development, while implementing national and rational infrastructural development initiatives for sustainable Jobs and economic growth.
5. Saint Lucians want a government that will promote and implement a living wage; universal healthcare, accelerated human resource development and growth focus tertiary education.

6. Saint Lucians want a government that will safeguard our patrimony and restore balance to the environment by promoting among other things the 3Rs (Re-use, Reduce and Recycle).
7. Saint Lucians need a government that will promote agricultural diversity, and broader economic diversity, putting Saint Lucian families first.

It is hypocritical for the Prime Minister to lay out a Six-point solution for addressing crime in St. Lucia and make calls for joint parliamentary sessions, on one hand, while on the other, he goes about using the country’s finances recklessly buying buildings and paying for luxurious office space for the Foreign Ministry that has little or nothing to do with the unemployed youth of this country.

But Saint Lucians have heard of such grandiose plans before with hardly any results. The seven thousand (7000) jobs promised in the 2006 election campaign have evaporated; the several tunnels of the five quadrant economic oxymoron are still a dream of the 2007 budget; and we are still waiting for the seven (7) new hotels of the 2008 Budget. In addition, the talking on crime has failed miserably and if anything, the situation has gotten worse despite the Prime Minister’s several utterances on the matter from May 30, 2010 until now.

I think I was one of the few people who hoped that PM King would have been a sucessful and competent Primeminister. Well I am very disappointed at rank failure. I have made all the excuses I could for him and now I have given up. Sadly I must admit Kenny Anthony who I don't like would do a better job.
On the issue of crime he has let down the nation. Can you imagine a PM saying 'No one is safe in St. Lucia'. That statement is tantamount to him saying he can't protect the people of St. Lucia.
The PM should have had the courage to sack Guy Mayers, he is the most incompetent Minister in St. Lucias history.
How can the PM expect to curb crime when there is a convicted criminal in his cabinet, namely Rufus Bousquet aka Bruce Tucker. How can crime be curbed when a Minister in his cabinet has known links with the criminals in our society. (Fredricks)
I am really sad but I have to say Its time for you to go PM.

Six point plan too little too late, plus there is no substance in the plan pure rhetoric.

I love to see the above Labour Hacks crying for their supper.

Blah blah blah blah Stephenson whoy!!! you have said the same thing time and time again; over and over. This rhetoric is beginning to sound like a broken record. Pm hear me well TRUE LEADERS INSPIRE CONFIDENCE, TRUE LEADERS ARE HONEST; TRUS LEADERS HAVE INTEGRITY. You do not do and have none of the above qualities. We see you as the weakest link in the chain with your cabinet ministers doing as they please and you do nothing about it. The criminals reached the door of your constituency office and you are yet to address that. Sunday gone was "red Sunday" in Saint Lucia and in your hurried address to the nation, you conviently choose not to address that. Why? PM you got a goldern opportunity actually GIVEN to you to become PM of Saint Lucia and what do you do? You messed up and continue to mess up BIG TIME!!!!. You know what? It has been said that its always better when there are no opportunities and you are prepared, than for opportunities to come knocking and you are not prepared. You PM were caught with your pants down UNPREPARED for the challenge of leading Saint Lucia. I sincerely hope that the electorate relieves you of that burden and send you back to ordinaty citizenship. You are absolutely NO INSPIRATION to us the youth of this nation.

You forgot Aallan Chastanet. The high courts labeled him a LIAR - and a liar is a CHEAT. A liar and a cheat are capable of doing any unlawful act - as evidenced by his useless and reckless traveling at the expense of our scarce resources (tax payers' money).

Jobs again. Why do people think homicide is linked to unemployment.

All of these gang fellers do not want to work. They are just not interested. Look a 16 year old kill a 18 year old. Where is the job in that.

The woman in Dennery kill her boyfriend. Where is the job in that. That employment thing and the murder rate is such a stupid and silly position to bring forward.

What do you mean by more visibility? Police Patrols all over the island would be a good idea, also up north; don't only send the police to town. What do you mean by increased technical and general surveillance? Can the friendly visitors abuse this technology, and how could you possibly stop them?

The crime situationis easy to solve is the PM would consider the fact that charity begins at home.

First take look around him and look within and ask the question, what has happened, what has transpired and why is this continuing.

The answer is not the NYPD, OR THE ISREAL.

Cabinet and the leadership of this country has set the agenda and the people are simply following.

1. If you can sell queens chain
2. Tuxado villas
3. Car mart
4. Caricom Airways
5. xcape at the 40 star
6. x-con in foreign affairs

There is to much to mention.
