Obviously, the murder rate is the worst of all these stats, mostly because it profoundly demonstrates the complete lack of human worth displayed by the murderers: both NO belief in their own self worth as well as their victims. This lack of self value might in fact be the most important issue St Lucia and the entire world need to rethink and IMMEDIATELY change; otherwise, in one way or another ALL human life is doomed on this planet.
If this government want to stop bs-ing us about crime, it would by now have invited the DEA of the US to help it and help them with their enforcement with information on the local merchants of death involved with the transshipment of narcotics.
This will not happen because the local drug baron has some key people in his pockets while idiots we have for young people kill each other and eye-witnesses to their crimes.
The notion that the issue of crime is being hyped by the Minister and Police Dept is simply ludicrous. Any intelligent person cannot deny or refute the stats/reports that indicate that crime is problematic in St.Lucia. It is imperative that Guy Mayers and others(law enforcement personnel) understand that there are intelligent persons in St.Lucia who will not let this issue rest in the manner desired by those guys. We have heard over and over again that crime should not be politicized but Guy Mayers has simply contradicted his government main dictates (i.e. politicizing crime)in his address of the crime rates.
I think it is about time St Lucia’s Home Secretary be removed and be replaced with someone who will take a tought line on crime and the causes of it. The secretary of state is responsible for maintaining law and order and to date not much is being done under his leadership to curtail the crimewave that is hiting the country. This man is living in cloud cuckoo land. He is all words and no action. He is simply too soft for this high profile position.
St Lucia needs a home secretary who will be truly responsible for its internal affairs. One who is robust, incorruptible and vigorous. The only person that springs to mind at this moment is Richard Frederick, The MP for Central Castries. I don’t know Richard personally but from what I have read and heard about him, he seems to fit this criteria. I listened to one of his programmes one time and was fairly impressed with him. He was articulate and sharp. He answered the legal questions accordingly. He did not beat around the bush nor did he lead anyone up the garden path.
A beefy figure he is pugnacious and can strike fear into the hearts of the criminals. His voice is punctuated with a sandpapery grittiness which is sufficient to discourage criminal overtures. Richard has carried himself well. He is passionate about St Lucia, and wants to serve his country in every capacity. He has a face that is alive with enthusiasm. What more can one ask?
We need to get a grip of the crime situation. St Lucia simply cannot afford to allow criminals to dictate proceedings. We need to take our streets back from the crimelords who rule with impunity. These thugs have no regard for law and order and will go to any lengths to settle scores and unveil mayhem into our already fragile communities. In this war on crime we need to win hearts and minds. Everyone must play their part if we are to take back our communities from the inescapable claws of these ruthless scumbags. Mr. King Give Richard The Job. Malcolm…
Finally, some of the more decent Police Officers are placed where they ought to have been. Pancras Albert, Errol Alexander,Moses Charles, Frances Henry, Commissioner Vernon Francois. St. Lucia has not seen a Police High Command, made up of some of the more decent Police Officers in a long, long time.
If they keep their minds in gear, and not forget the pitfalls, of their predecessors, not allowing politicians of whatever stripe to use them, and trash them like garbage,St. Lucia WILL see a difference.
I felt proud as a St. Lucian when I heard Commissioner Vernon Francois, say, if any Politician came to him with any promotion list, it would find itself in the garbage. Just make sure Commissioner you speak within proper context, and cover yourself all the way. BRAVO. Well done so far. Congratulations to your High Command and the rank and file behind you. Make sure you are taking care of the guys and gals. They deserve your full support and your team deserves theirs.

What war on crime?...There are high level criminals in the UWP government. So, what war on crime are they speaking of!! Pray tell...
Flush the criminals first from your administration and the police force and then lets start making strives.
