..."No one has been arrested in connection with this incident."...AND, NO ONE WILL BE ARRESTED.

Isn't it the norm in St Lucia, killers at large, killing at wills, and the police doing practically nothing to abait the crime spree in this God's forsaken place?

Last week I called on the prime minister to make Richard Frederick the home secretary. I have not lived in St Lucia for sometime now. I came up with this suggestion
after speaking to many Lucians who know the man. I met him once and was impressed with burly figure and posture. His hand shake was firm and uninhibited and after exchanging a few pleasantries I went away feeling mesmerised and confident that St Lucia may have found the consumate politician.

Like I said I do not know Richard Frederick and I am going by what I have heard and read about him. He is clever and articulate. No one that I know has had a bad word to say about him. He has that combative spirit that is one of the prerequisites for entering into politics in St Lucia. There is no pretence about him. He reminds me of the late George Odlum with his ‘never give up attitude.’

I have been reliably informed that he goes out of his way to assist his impoverish constituents, doling out free legal advice, giving scholarships to needy students and putting projects in place to deter the youths from a life of crime. St Lucia needs someone who is tought on crime and the causes of it. Someone who will not mince his words when addressing the current situation in letting the crimelords who rule with impunity know that they will be put out of circulation. A home secretary who will maintain the balance and able to strike fear into the hearts of the criminals who plunder and destroy our communities.

Richard is a lawyer by profession and as is the norm in countries like Britain, this portfolio requires someone with legal knowledge. He is incisive and robust and can send these troublemakers packing.Hopefully with the right people around him he can ooze fear into the pore of every scumbag who dare to hold our lovely country to ransom. This is just my humble observation and may be wrong and would appreciate being put right if I am.Tell me more. What do you think folks?

Do not speak of what you know nothing of. Richard is part and parcel of the ills that goes on in St Lucia day in day out.

He is alligning himself with all sort of questionable characters. Some, even when arrested are alluding to the fact that, "their boss will set them free" and this is the man you want to be guardian of law and order her. I suggest if you had lived in St Lucia for a while, you would not have recommended Richard Frederick to be Home Affairs Minister.

Richard Frederick and his gangs are liabilities to civil society.

Anonymous: I listened to Richard on radio this morning after I was told he would be on air - He was addressing the thorny issue of Claudius Francis's security concerns. He was vigorous in his condemnation of the wrongdoing that is rearing its ugly head in St lucia.

He was robust and left no stones unturned and spoke passionately about what is happening in the country. Hanging around with questionable characters does not make you guilty of any crimes.Richard is a lawyer and as a defense barrister is entitled to talk to defendants who may be charged with crimes and require representation in court. There is nothing wrong with that.

You are making broad assertions without providing much, if anything, by the way of proof. When you say that he isn't fit to become home secretary: Perhaps he is, but you give precious little evidence to support your reason for saying so. Facts is the lifeblood of evidence.

If anything you have utterly failed to offer any sort of practical alternative. Who else should be given the task to take our streets back from the crimelords in this country? I still think Richard Frederick is credible and should be given the opportunity. He can do it ---
