I totally agree with you when you state that "the Star" is spinning things to promote the UWP.I have been a victim of the star refusing to post any of my comments which highlights the shortcomings of the uwp. They chose to pen selected pieces of Jeanine's letter to make it look like she is not worthy to be part of the UWP(they got that right because is is way better than that).

Robby got the approval of the Market Place Restaurant from the Prime Minister; the PM gave Robby his blessings for the place, alas, the PM instructions and directives were ignored and disobeyed by the Minister for Physical Development, Housing, Urban Renewal. Instead, the Market Place Restaurant was given to the Minister' friend and buddy.

Up to now, the Minister has not been reprimanded for dis-obeying a directives from the Prime Minister.

Out of all the politicians currently in power, she was the one who strove to be transparent in her dealings... and helped us keep our consciences intact when it came to what governance should ideally be about (accountability - no matter the cost and patriotism - country before self). However, we can understand the necessity of having the government machinery work for us and I understand it's the pressure she was up against which forced her to resign. I honestly think she had quite a lot of endurance to have lasted for so long! In another time, surrounded by a different calibre of politicians, she would have bloomed. It's such a pity that we as St. Lucians CANNOT boast of having the type of politicians that we can be proud of. I don't know when the time will come; I'm hoping it does soon. Best of luck Jeannine... Approximately 22.5% of the potential voters will vote for a broomstick if nominated as a candidate by the UWP. An additional 22.5% of the voters will vote for a mop if put up by the SLP. So 45% of the potential voters will vote for their “tribe” and not on issues or the good of St. Lucia.

Another 35% simply do not bother to vote.

Therefore we have 80% of the total potential voters who contribute NOTHING to the electoral process and democracy because they do not think about their actions in either voting or not voting.

Of the remaining 20% , I am of the view that no more than 1% -5% vote on the basis of any thoughtful analysis of philosophy, issues or policies. The rest vote on how they “feel” or which party or candidate they get “excited” about. All emotions.

Aside from the point of the quality of candidates that go up for Elections we therefore have a situation where anything from 95 -99% of voters effectively contribute nothing to the process of democracy except to walk to a polling booth and put a “ti croix” in a box.

My bible says that if you cannot be good in small thing, then you are not good for big things either. Politicians love power... isn't that the reason most would lie, slander and victimize to win elections. They mentally abuse tax payers and none are held accountable for their actions. Jeanine just brought the ugly truth to light. YES we all know that both parties are guilty of these facts...SLP in particular is notorious. DO NOT BE SO QUICK TO FORGET THE HARDSHIP LUCIANS ENDURED DURING THEIR LAST REIGN.

That does not seem to be forthcoming from lackeys and people like Kenny who feel a sense of entitlement to be top dog -- even dog in the manger. Sure there is talent and depth in the SLP besides Kenny.

Then there are those who can only exist in a two-party environment. If you criticize the SLP or Kenny you are automatically UWP, or you endorse the criminality of the UWP. To those people oblivious to the realities of the day, there is the LPM.

It is more legitimate than ONE, and NDM put together. It has more depth and breadth in terms of native talent than the SLP.

LPM I know, is made up of people with both DOMESTIC, CARIBBEAN and INTERNATIONAL WORKING EXPERIENCE. In my view, pushing paper like Kenny did at the CARICOM SECRETARIAT does not cut it.

LPM has people with BUSINESS, PRIVATE SECTOR, TEACHING, and consulting experience in many fields that can be used in many of our ministries. For example, business consulting, organization streamlining, Internet marketing, public policy, energy economics, education, and gender issues, just to name a few.

LPM has a programme of action to be implemented to hit the ground running! SLP has outlines.

The LPM must learn their way around and learn the functions of government. that will take some time, because there is nobody in the LPM who has any experience in the working of government.
