It is morally unacceptable that the government of Saint Lucia is unable to propose a housing and development plan for the victims of Hurricane Tomas in Fond St. Jacques.
The LPM, thereby propose the following;
1. A mix residential development with shopping and amenities on lands in the vicinity of Etangs. 2. A housing project on lands adjacent to the entrance of the Sulphur Springs. 3. Remodel the housing and infrastructural plan for the cressland project. 4. A mix development (housing, commercial, services), as part of the extension of new development adjoining the Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School (SCSS). 5. Micro financing for home owners to accommodate renovation and remodeling. 6. Redesign and build drains, bridges, and roadways. 7. Dredge the Soufriere River from Fond St. Jacques to the Soufriere Bay.
Meanwhile, the Government of Saint Lucia continue to ignore local realities such as, safe running water, electricity, roads, functioning hospitals, safety, reliable security and matters of crime in the interest of party politics.
If tourism is the universal remedy for the Island, the social and infrastructural development of Soufriere is imperative. Therefore these are basic requirements that Soufriere needs now.
