Wish the finance ministry would do likewise. Then we would have more faith in the statistics coming from it.

I feel offended because thereare so many st lucians that are hurting whether through sickness, can't find no jobs and therefore have no money, can't make ends meet whilst some are having a good time and the newspapers, journalist, media etc are not trying to putout information on sound events that affect the lives of people and are pretending that everything is ok.
we have and ill perform goverment who cares for the select few whilst the masses go out hungry.
Please take the time and write about the plight that the people in and what can the leaders do to bring relief to people

St. Lucians have very faithful representation in government. Both the leaders and the followers are lost sheep, without a sense of direction. The miscreants among those sent to parliament are having a field day. More power to the ignorant!

Well blogger could be true that we do have lots of ignorant people, but whose to blame for all these years when our people should have been more knowlegeable especially as an election approaches.
I do believe that our news media, Television, newspapers, column writers, etc all have contributed to this ignorance.
Maybe they need to take a page from cnn or othernews media.

Some simple question to be answered are these. Who controls the media? In whose interest are the media houses working?

We have allowed backward people called politicians with the media houses to create a culture of beggars who can only care about basic needs.

All the shills and the country-bookie politicians have to do is to pretend that they have the interest of the beggars at heart during the election campaign. Then give those beggars a little rum and some chicken legs.

Their basic needs are taken care of for a few short hours. Then they go ahead and vote to keep themselves as beggars for the next five years.

If their party fails to win, they are still beggars, but this time they can actually starve. That is why we have a hogs to the political trough politics. It does not matter who gets elected anymore.

Elections in St. Lucia only decides which set of beggars gets political crumbs from the winning party.

It has nothing to do with making ALL the people have a higher standard of living irrespective of party affiliation.

Why doesn't the news media and newspaper have aweek on each of these politian who are in office and bring about information about these politian from the last five years and their accomplishment as well as broken promises to see whether they are qualified.
If these were being done they would have think twice and our people maybe woul have made, at least the majority would make a wise decision

Since the time of slavery, St. Lucians have always looked for other people to take care of them.

We have people making more children than they can actually support, because children are regarded as insurance policies. The more children you have the more money you can expect to get from them.

Compton gave us paper independence and we got grant support and a 'guaranteed' market for our bananas. With that gone, St. Lucians are looking for PMs who can beg the best. As soon as UWP got into power, the beggars switched foreign ties to those they thought would give them more aid.

St. Lucians have no sense of independence.

Why does it takes such a long time to get goods delivered at port castries? SLAPA is a very in efficient organisation. Just look at the area, formerly used as the weight bridge and see the how SLASPA has turned this place as a gabage area. They continue to store old vehicles on the port.

Take a page from CNN? Blogger # 4 wrote. Don't you know that the US voters are as equally brainwashed, ignorant and confused as St Lucians?
Don't you (whoever) realize that politians in the US, St Lucia, and in most countries DO NOT RULE THEIR OWN COUNTRIES. Whether you like to hear it or not, the real rulers world wide are big banks and big corporations!
These enormous power forces are always scouting the globe looking for certain power-hungry personality types in every country. They find them and financially (and otherwise) support these puppet politicians, e.g., Amin, Hitler, Saddam Hussien, etc. That's our politics, that's our world.
Until a different and higher character of individual becomes interested in politics we will all have to suffer under the governments we ignorantly elect.
Open your eyes and minds, become informed, and try to make better choices. Then, maybe in time we will attract a better caliber of leadership.

Now that is being dialog through its a matter of the air waves if westay quiet on issues then these corrupt people will get bye.
we can sit idly bye and let fair helen degrade by these politians those of us who are knowledgeable about these should seek to educate though the masses wouldn't but at least we will get by with some to open their eyes. especially this election coming up.

When you tell our ignorant and semi-literate St. Lucians something they do not know, they call you arrogant. When you those who have a degree in something other than what you are talking about or they do not know about, the tell you 'straight from the textbook' theory.

A country always gets the government that it deserves: crooks, liars, shills, ex-cons, jailbirds, drug barons, semi-literate, dummies, and ne'er-do-wells.

I am sure that some politician will have to skip town or go to jail this time. No commission of inquiry this time. A forensic accounting audit and criminal charges! We will see whether making money is the only measure of success.
