Some of our would-be politicians and those who aspire to higher office display a singular type of ignorance of the norms and conventions of the Westminster System of government.
It is either this, or a willful disdain for the orderly process of constitutional government, and a desire to flout all norms of common decency, and persist instead with the usual rogue party political behaviour, in pursuit of pure narrow personal objectives.
Common decency should have dictated the recognition that, not being in power means that political aspirants and their scumbag followers would have seen it fit not to appear at an opening ceremony in the 'uniform' of the opposing party.
By any decent standard of behaviour, that would unequivocally be regarded as provocative. Only nasty politicians engage in such dastardly behaviour. It raises the ire of those of party in power. Such confrontations are entirely unnecessary and unbecoming of current and would-be leaders of this country.
Those who engage in such behaviours of the cad are placing this country on a dangerous road, in pursuit of their political ambitions and yardfowlism.
But it all boils down to the sense of desperation facing some, who are in almost in the identical position of those seeking political jobs in STEP. They are unemployed. Perhaps, they may be even completely unemployable, save those political jobs.
That sense of desperation, underscored by the lack of anyone up to now agreeing to give up a safe UWP seat to accommodate essentially a carpetbagger, means that desperate people will do desperate things. To them, the end justifies the means.
Some of our politicians are not only divisive, but are overwhelmingly polarizing.
Are we about to return to the John Compton era of staging riots, as in the Valley, to gain political office?

Most of what you stated can easily be validated by the release of the tape.
Don't you find it strange that the SLP and sympathizers like you find so much fault with Chastenet's actions and yet a tape which can support your claim is in posession of the SLP GOVERNMENT and despite calls from the public for its release to the media that has not been done.
Everyone knows that if the tape showed what the SLP claimed it would have been released to the media houses the same day the incident took place.

When the narcissistic Kenny became Leader of the Opposition he refused to go to the members lounge in Parliament, just because he was not PM. He refused to go to the dozens of functions every year he was invited to as LOO. What arrogance both by nuturing and nature.
So it is no surprise that they refused to invite Chastanet to the bridge opening to further their pilitical agenda. Phillip Pierre can never get anything right.
Their lack of decorum and appreciation for rules is what makes their management so disastereous and dangerous. A crass people who break all the rules bring us to a primitive and criminal state as a nation. That is why St Lucia is so backward because politicians like the Dalsons and Anthonys act without any respect for human or natural laws. This is then spread out to the rest of society as others follow suit.
It is this kind of perspective we lack when talking about nation building. As an underdeveloped liberal thinking people we think it is just about money. Look at Trinidad. All their money and they are still a primitive society because they have no respect for laws.
St Lucia puts accused rapists in key positions. They appoint incompetents like Rambally who shoukd be running a rum shop in Bexon. They sign international agreements for millions of dollars without consent of the right authorities. They do no follow up to audit expenditures.
This type of governance shows we have the trappings of civilization but in reality we operate on base wants with no descipline. I.e. we are primitive.
We have also an upper class and middle class that is no different. Their personal behaviour leaves a lot to be desired and they could care less about St Lucia.

If the country is to go forward, then some large infrastructrial projects that might take longer than 5 years to complete are likely.
Therefore, the party that starts a large project mightn't be the one to cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.
And if that arrangement cannot be accepted by both parties, then nothing, on a large scale, will get done.
One party not wanting the other party to get the credit is childish.
