Crime and corruption in the Government, the police force, no law or order. Filth and garbage everywhere.
Corruption,garbage, crime.

No thanks.

Where is PIP's leadership in all of this?

Still on the bridge fighting with Allen Chastanet.

Don't forget PIP has a serious problem with people of colour.

I think sir Arthur made a mistake.....our problem is not lack of education but lack of implementation........it's simple ....gun criminals, rapist ect should be put away for 10 years minimum....legal weed can fix the economy....ect...but no...we rather follow the useless. Examples of yester year....whatever...I give up on stlucia for now...

Legalize ganja and build enough rehabs for servicing 30 percent of the youth. NYC where are you on this?

Social behaviour is not only the reason for all the crime. Its a matter of dollars and cents all revolving around drugs.
That is 99% of the problem. Talk and write all we want unless the matter is dealt with St.Lucia will continue to go down the drain. Easy to say but some of us dont even want to talk about that issue.

How indeed? I reminded of an expose a few years ago on the boys training centre. The result of that expose was the government then trying to find out how the writer of that expose came by the information and all the correctional officers being sent back to the Bordelais Correctional Facility. Soon after that a 12 year old boy was burnt to death at that same Boys Training Centre. Nobody was found culpable in the death of this child. Today, there is much corruption and mal-treatment and abuse of the wards there as there was at the time of that Expose. I am saying this to point out that the politicians in our midst followed by their cohorts are as much to blame as the ignorant philistines of society who condone such occurrences and attitudes among us. We live in a small country where those who are supposed to be in authority are so caught up in their power struggle that nothing else matters. Where the little man on the streets is crucified while the those with "money and clout" are excused for their criminal acts. As for exposing corruption in high places, we can just forget it because whoever dares to tread that path, is marked for death. So how indeed can things change for the better when our youth are continuously exposed to these horrific acts of criminality perpetrated by our so called figures of authority? There is a code of silence among the police, there is another code of silence among the politicians and all are wrapped up in corruption. It is a dog eat dog situation and now, there is a code of silence among the citizens of this country...they no longer express an caring attitude for the common good of this nation lest they be targeted for speaking out. As for the Police Chief, he lacks imagination, he lacks wisdom and he lacks the know how to stem the tide of crime. Does he really think that extra-judicial killings will solve the problems? Fear creates hatred and hatred creates atrocity. We are on a downward spiral in this country and nobody is safe, and now we all have to live by the code of "self-preservation." Sadly, those who purport to lead are propelled by power and materialistic greed and that is what our youth see and invariably learn. So now we have become like a bucket of crabs, each trying to claw his/her way out of a situation that has very little hope of being rectified. And did we say we live in a "Christian" society? Surely religion has us so spellbound that we cannot even see the destruction it too has created among us. How many religious leaders are speaking up on behalf of those young men who are held on remand in prison for offences that can be dealt with expeditiously? Yet we expect them to come out happy and would hope that they have learned some lesson form their ordeals? Why should they? When their more criminal counterparts walk the streets each day free men committing atrocities against others with impunity just because they can pay for their freedom? Hatred does surely abound among us as a people and it is very easy to learn and practice for the so called religious ones among us do not speak out against these injustices. So many issues, so little paper to express my opinion. So how indeed?
