If LIAT never had a captive clientele because of its monopoly status as single provider of scheduled air travel for and between the small islands, they not being nodes, it would have long ago been wrapped up, placed in moth balls with a requiem.
But there a few shareholders if any, who understand the economics and the operations of airline travel, who are the representatives of the individual investors (stakeholders), the people who vote the shareholder governments into power. The situation is likely to get much worse before it gets better.
The Saint Lucian government should insist on getting any money owed to it converted into equity before further funding this losing proposition that is this regional air carrier.
