Shame! Shame! Shame!

There is egg on the face of Kenny Anthony! Why don't he resign. In any civilize country around the world that would do the honourable thing and resign.

Shame ! Shame ! Shame!

There is egg on the face of Kenny Anthony. Why don't he resign. Most leaders in civilize nations would do the honourable thing and resign.

Here you asking people to resign for wasting the countries money and you are no different. God put a hand to help St Lucia.

They all must go!

I quite agree with you that Dr. Anthony should not be seeking to run this country again, for though the Doc may not have done anything illegal with the Rochamel Affair, any Leader in any part of the democratic world, would never be allowed to run their country again, after wasting or losing so much of its revenue. Just watch how for the slightest mistake made by someone, it becomes impossible for that person to be elected President of the USA We have to stop this love of party, and say no to people like these.

The SLP will lose the next election if Kenny is their leader.

Zeigy said...

As much as I want to agree with you guys, let me ask you this...who will take up the mantle of leadership should Kenny Anthony go? Who is prepared to lead the UWP?

There will be significant analysis of the Inquiry in comming days. I would first like to congratulate Micah on at least going some way towards telling the truth unlike the dishonest presentation of the content of the report as made by HTS the other night. This was the same HTS that hid the tape of Kenny asking criminals for a "break" during Christmas until after he lost the 2006 Elections. This tape was one of the indications of the SLP's inability to deal with the issue of law and order in St. Lucia but was kept away from the people by a media house to score political points for themselves.

The Commission's report was a damning tale of incompetence and waste during the Kenny Anthony Administration along with proof of 12 years of lying to mislead the taxpayers of St. Lucia as to the use of their hard earned money.

Thank you Micah even if i do have reservations in the fact that it took so long for this deception to be uncovered.

Anonymous said...

These are my exact thoughts. After reading the HTS report I was of the impression that the HTS had given Kenny a green light of approval. I really don't understand why Cami Joseph and HTS set out to mislead the country. I was so shocked when I learnt of how cluless Kenny was as PM. The way I use to regard him can never be the same again.

I am disgusted by the whole thing. St Lucia is in deep sh.t.

Zeigy said...

That's true. Kenny did try to pretend like nothing had gone wrong with Rochamel. That's dishonesty at the very least.

Anonymous said...

Kenny has used this kind of ruse before.
In one instance he dared a Parliamentarian to examine the report of the contents of a previous Parliamentarian sitting which he(Kenny) intimated would show haw right he was on the Rochamel issue.
The fact is that examination of Hansard (the records of Parliament) showed that Kenny was "talking crap" and he was hiding more than he revealed in the convoluting but high sounding nonsense mutter in Parliament.
It is the same case here.
This Inquiry shows an incompetent wasteful reckless Government and we must thank Micah George for begining the process of truthful reporting.

There is nothing new here. We've known all along that the SLP Government threw away US$14.6 million and put the burden on the tax payer to repay the loan. Still Kenny received his gratuity and encouraged civil servants to strike against the UWP Government. SHAME! What did kenny say when he was asked to account? He said he would do it all over again. Remember? He said "take me to court" remember? and then we had his idiot lawyer Astaphan talking nonsense about jobs being created. With so many lawyers in Kenny's Cabinet why didn't they ensure they received shares for the taxpayers money. But there is another question that the Commission has not answered. How did this company Frenwell get involved in this transaction? Who is the lawyer at McNamara that benefitted from the whole deal? These guys are still around preying on the Government. They take no risks at all. There must be a way for king to prosecute some of these thieves.

Anonymous said...

What a let down. I am so ashmaed of the party, I am lost for words.

Anonymous said...

Wow!!! We should leave Queen bee and his knaves in power for ever.
Such stuff like Rochamel is unpardonable especially when the country never benefited from it.
Our country is doing great and Kenny wants to disrupt things.
I am so happy about all those articles Micah two years before the next general election.
Keep writing, you are doing a wonderful job.
Only in St. Lucia!

King is the luckiest son of a b... alive. Every time it seem as if he is about to go down, something brings him right back up. Boy I don't understand that at all.

I am very impressed with Micah George’s willingness at this junction to “put his ___ on the line” to report truthfully about this sorry episode.

As Micah noted: “ millions o dollars were lost in a transaction undertaken by former Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony ….”

Mr. George was very explicit.

He did not say that tens of millions of dollars were lost by the “Cabinet of Ministers” or the Kenny Anthony Administration. He said “by former Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony.”

He hit the nail on the head.

By all accounts beyond what is reported in the Commission and what is known by some St. Lucians, Dr. Anthony took the decision BY HIMSELF and with advise from individuals possibly not in Cabinet and possibly made up of SOME members of Cabinet to sign agreements that lost this country tens of millions of dollars. Did George Odlum, Sarah Flood, Lansiquot (Anse La Raye), Jon Odlum, Velon John , Cas Elias or Cecil Lay have any idea at the time that Dr. Anthony and Phillip Pierre had signed “put options” and/or guarantees that cost St. Lucia 10s of millions of dollars ?
I can guarantee you not !

After the fact and in the face of his gross incompetence he then went to Parliament in December 2002 and to his Cabinet to ask for permission to pay off this debt that he (Dr. Anthony) incurred with his reckless management style.

Most journalists in St. Lucia either report on purely political lines or report depending on which party is in power or appears to be returning to power.

Micah has simply analytically begun the process of examining this travesty based on FACT.

The report does not exonerate this UWP Government for some of the actions it has taken over the past three years but to complain about expenditures by Allan Chastanet of $2,0000,000 when Kenny mismanaged and wasted at least $500,000,000 in 9 years - is a joke.

I would rather support and vote for Prime Minister King wasting $1,000,000/ month than Kenny and his "Rodney Bay Mafia" borrowing and wasting $100,000,000 annually

And you're telling me that Lucians weren't aware of what they were doing when they voted the SLP out?

I thing Lucians are the smartest people in the Caribbean because the put all those politicians' dirty laundry out to dry. They don't settle for less anymore and the rest of the caribbean should follow suit.

We pay those politicians so why not demand acountability for every penny spent? It's our money you know.

Anonymous said...

This is a very intelligent account. To all those who claim that the St Lucian people voted against progress, and have for months lambasted them for their decision, here is the proof.

I admit that this UWP government is lacking in every way. But who is to blame? Is it the people of St Lucia. Not a all. They did the right thing when they voted the SLP out of office. The UWP let them down.

We know now that St Lucians are among the most intelligent people in the world. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If Kenny knew what was contained in the report, I bet you he would never ask for its release.

What a turn of event.

Anonymous said...

This should be seen not as a UWP or SLP thing. This is about accountability, honesty and transparancey from those elected by the people to serve them. What Kenny did was bad enough although you might say it was done in good faith. What was bad about about it is Kenny and the other lawyers in his cabinet didn't have a clue what they were doing; what was worse is when kenny was aksed to account he basically told the people to "go jump in a lake". We must remember the UWP did little to force the Rochamel issue. lat week The Star carried a lengthy speech given by Vaughn Lewis castigating Kenny. But look where Lewis is now! It took poor Martinus Francois to press the people's case ALONE in the courts. He was ridiculed by Astaphan, Kenny, Petrus Compton, and Co.

This gives the UWP some breathing space, it does not say things are hunky dory with them. King must put a stop to the waste and tighten up on the behaviour of his Ministers. He should call off the appeal of the Cottle decision and use that money to rebuild St. Judes Hospital. And he should dump Nicholas Frederick who is giving his cabinet bad advice.

I dare remind those with mal-intentions especially politicians that St.Lucy is associated with light and whatever they do will eventually be seen.
My advice, leave your wrong intentions at the door because there are always two eyes (St.Lucy's) watching at all times.

Good job, Mr. Micah George! A public better informed will make better decisions on election day.

Anonymous said...

Like I've said before, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" Kenny is a hypocrite and his supporters are blinded by his fake sincerity.

I wonder if he ever lost any sleep over the number of innocent people whose lives were suddenly turned inside out because of his retarded decisions.

Now, I understand why Hyatt did not purchased the hotel after it went into receivership. They wanted nothing more to do with these shady characters and decided to cut their loses and leave the island for good.

Lucians you must understand, that as long as Kenny and Tony are allowed to rule, there will be no economic progress for SLU. There will be more shady deals and more of your hard earned money down the drains.

All of you who are quick to match, do you plan on matching in protest to that one too?

Rochamel has been exhausted in the media; remember there was a court case; with the same result as the COI!!!
St. Lucians are well aware of what went wrong in Rochamel!!!
I also do Agree St. Lucians are not as stupid as we are thinking.
Rochamel cost tax payers A LOT of money but the embarrassing situation that now passes as government today; no plans; degrading public health systems; everyday corruption; dearth of policies;wastage of public funds (yes Daher building, Boxing in Paradise etc. etc.) all of this will cause us to go back to Kenny Anthony.
According to Rick Wayne, Kenny Anthony might very well be the one to save us from that MESS we are in!!!
Nowhere in the world would this government be allowed to continue on this current path.
Bathe them and dress them in suits and examine their brains people!!!
I am sure Kenny won't repeat Rochamel. As a matter of fact, Probably we need to ask King to give Le Paradis a guarantee....thereby creating jobs for our people and removing this eye sore on the Castries VF highway.
So all you flambeaus stop jumping on ALL blogs trying to convince people how impartial you all are and asking people to forget politics and leave King in there.....P..L...E...A...S...E
I am Apolitical too but I read the report; the same report that exonerated Kenny Anthony.

Abusing the taxpayers' dime is a no no.

All those problems were there before, they are just coming to light only now, SLP didn't do enough otherwise those problems would have been gone.

Anonymous said...

Kenny has yet to apologize to St Lucians for his Rochamel faux-pas. He still does not admit he made a mistake. This means he WILL DO IT AGAIN. He has no legitimacy to castigate King on IMF when he is responsible for saddling the people with more that $40 million of debt from one transaction only.

======================

Yep, but St. Lucia is not civilized.

Anonymous said...

Timothy, how do you measure civil? Is America civilized with all they've done and are still doing? So don't you dare dis my country.

Zeigy said...

America built the American Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq partly on slave labour. Very civil indeed!

Anyway, not to draw away from the issue here. Americans did the pragmatic thing to get the embassy constructed. Other countries don't always know what's best for us, even though they try to pretend that they do. Instead of us just following what other countries do, we need to look at our individual situation and find creative ways to tackle the problems.

Eg. I think our police force would be more effective if it took more of a community based approach to tackling crime, officers should setup representatives in each community who gets to know the residence so if there are any criminal elements he knows exactly how to deal with the situation having possessed intrinsic knowledge about his community. That's how business works in St. Lucia it's not who you know but who knows you that gets you to be able to work with the people. The police force would get more public cooperation that way.

Yeah, don't try to change the subject here. Keep your eyes on the topic of gross incompetence.

I'm very surprised at all these comments. Did we read the same article? Governments guarantee loans all the time, and in instances to promote public-private partnerships and spur investment they will also guarantee the loans of private projects. The Anthony Government guaranteed a loan to a private tourism development, austensibly I suppose to support the construction of the largest hotel built in Saint Lucia for many years. That was a policy decision to which we can all argue. To suggest that Anthony did anything wrong or that the money was "lost" is quiestionable because the hotel was built and is operational. What should be questioned was why the country did not receive equity as per the agreement, if that is in fact the case. That to me is a lot more interesting a detail to be clarified. Might I also suggest that this is not the first time government made such moves to support tourism large investments and it should not be the last. Instead of blasting Rochamel, we have a serious need to "bail out" if you like the Le Paradis project. Leaving Le Paradis incomplete is an economic waste and an environmental disaster. Finishing Le Paradis should in fact be seen as a national imperative at this juncture given the large positive spin-offs it can have, particularly to the eastern districts of Dennery, Praslin and Micoud. So, move on from Rochamel and provide a step-up to Le Paradis Mr. Government. I think the party hacks who seemingly couldn't wait for something to take as salvo against Kenny Anthony are simply playing politics. We have a country on the brink of disaster and we're cuddling up to mindless political games. so again, SAVE Le Paradis, whether it takes a loan guarantee or not.

Zeigy said...

Hotels on all the beaches is an ecological disaster. We are selling all our land. Helen of the West is becoming Whore of the West.

The foreign investors were brought here to bring in the income we desperately need. Our people are only getting the low paying jobs in the hotel industry. What do they do with their hard earned cash? They spend it on cars that lose half their value in three short years, not a cent is spent on even a novel for reading or a newspaper, far less a higher education so that their children could compete for the higher end jobs.

I love it when our politicians take us for fools. You try to do an honest job in government and you will be castigated for it. But give people the nonsense that gets them nowhere and they follow you.

Educate us before we destroy ourselves.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone read the Ramsahole Report that outlined what Kenny gave away to the Rochamel people in the concessions ? I almost got sick.

Even if the hotel had prospered the developers would have been living like kings and queens on St. Lucia.
St. Lucian aside from the main rochamel funds also lost millions in concession agreements that got us nowhere.

That is what you call management from the "best and the brightest" ?

Anonymous said...

Well said ixi lixi.....alas.....an understanding ....educated.....unbalanced opinion.

I have maintained that St. Lucians by and large are unsophisticated and very illiterate!!!!

They read and don't understand.....

They are also blindly political and nowadays it is worse as the flambeaus sensing the decreasing popularity are bouncing onto all blogs painting the SLP and Kenny as un-votable!!!!!!

I am sure they may not even remember even Sir John said Kenny Anthony did nothing wrong; nothing any other prime minister wouldn't have done given similar circumstances.
The only thing is the possible oversight of not securing shares in the entity!!!

Oh boy ....but read Lucian Talk....the Star website.....etc. and you will find them....saying 'Kenny should resign' etc. etc.

People guess who should resign right now and would have a greater and immediate impact on the development of this country?

Read the report objectively people and stop the ignorance....educated people are reading this all over.

Anonymous said...

That someone could read the damning Ramsahole Report and conclude that Dr. Anthony has been exonerated shows how abysmally this party hackism, sheer ignorance and self serving greed is so ingrained in our society.

Based on the responce to this report where gross negligance and incompetence coupled with a complete lack of transparancy and accountability by a Political Leader is willingly overlooked I can only conclude that there has to be a significant tsunami in coming elections to clense the stables of all the filth.

Money lost is money lost and you don't have to have a degree to know that, do you?

Anonymous said...

Anybody who cannot admit that Kenny made a MASSIVE mistake on Rochamel has a very serious problem. How many hotel have been built in St. Lucia and in the rest of the Caribbean without Government guarantees? Such guarantees are not bad things. However if you're going to guarantee seomthing you must make sure you can recover all or at least part of what you guaranteed. The point here is that after giving the guarantee, Kenny and Co did not lift a finger to protect their investment. They did not ensure the overruns were limited. They did not put a representative on the site. They did not call for regular financial audits. THEY DID NOTHING. Let's face it: they were negligent in the extreme. Shouln't we be concerned that some foreign investors have walked away with OUR money?
